I really don't want to have to write this review....especially since My first experience here was exceptional. Now, I would advise anyone reading my review to NOT GO TO JIMMIE EAST FOR YOUR PIERCING. Disclaimer: THIS IS MY FIRST AND ONLY PIERCING EXPERIENCE OTHER THAN EARS. I HAVEN'T GONE ANYWHERE ELSE. The first time I came it was outstanding. I had gone to Piercing Pagoda initially (my bad), and I left my saline at the Kiosk, so I went to the closest shop to buy more, which is how I ended up at East Coast instead. I just asked to buy saline but Jimmie realized my nose stud was not in properly. He threw me in a chair, called over a lady named Kim and was like "Yeah we need to get that out and get you a better stud." He repierced me with a flatback stud and got me all good again. I was SOOOO thankful! Now the second time I came, I asked the blonde girl for a jewelry change, plus I couldn't get the stud out by myself. I wanted a nose ring. I bought one with rhinestones off Shein. He told me the ring was a piece of sh!t but that's fair it was. So he got some of his other jewelry from the back, he put it in but it didn't fit (he said "wrong gauge"). NOW THIS IS WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW. He comes back with the ring THAT YOU SEE IN MY NOSE. He just snaps it in, and the first thing I noticed is that the ring is very girthy, and I didn't even want a ring that thick and he didn't show me prior to insertion, but whatever. He proceeds to tell me it was one you can just snap in and out so it should be more adjustable. He also said it was a ring Kim made (what I gathered is she used to do business there now she's doing solo ventures), but she is/was not working there that day. But he said it was one of her designs, and it was similar to the design I brought in and it was already in my nose so cool. Finally, I came back in the other day (4/2/25) to show him the state of my nose ring. When I told him, he immediately was defensive and told me he didn't put that POS in my nose and wouldn't even own up to it. He says he doesn't even have that kind of setup, blah blah so I asked him to show me and he said he was fresh out surgery, walking with a walker, etc. and was UNABLE. It made for a very distressing and unprofessional experience. He never even asked to look at the jewelry or assess it, he immediately got defensive. He came up with excuses like "Maybe someone else did it, maybe Kim did it," but obviously I know who pierced me. I stepped out to call my boyfriend crying because he has been the one taking me to get my jewelry done. I was trying to explain what was happening to him when I see Jimmie get up and start approaching me outside the shop. He's all like "Okay I'll show you the setup" no you should have done it when you were supposed to. He tried to lure me back in the shop but I ended up walking away and leaving. Now I'm in the process of finding a new piercer. I've been thinking of the highly rated Cowpok, or I like the ratings of Arboreal Ink and Lucky DeVille Tattoo. TLDR: The 5 star Google reviews are fake, he has you leave a review before leaving the shop and before paying after the appointment/walk-in, was pierced with low quality jewelry, the shop is empty with nothing going on in it, and he is crazy inappropriate with initial interactions. Got two piercings. First thing he said to me when I walked in there was "we don't bite, we lick" so I mean that's cool. Jim was tattooing someone, and stopped to pierce me. Which if he was busy I wouldn't have minded coming back. That was the first red flag. Got two belly button piercings, top and bottom. He tried to talk me into dangly jewelry to be pierced with. I insisted no. Which thankfully I have the knowledge I do on piercings and body modifications to know you're not supposed to be pierced with any fancy jewelry. That was the second red flag. When doing the two piercings, I chose the color. Thought it was maybe iodized metal. He pierces me, and puts the bars in. While tightening the balls, the balls broke, about 3 times. He made a comment about them being plastic balls and "how he'll never use them again" that was the third red flag. At this point, I thought screw it. I'm here let's get this done, I know who can look at it and help me out after. I go to pay. He says "we're trying to get to 5,000 Google reviews, if you could please leave a review" immediately after I hand him my card. I say okay, not really intending on leaving a review, but when I didn't review as quickly as he had asked, he asked me again, so I posted a 5 star Google review. Then he processed payment. While processing payment he looked at me and said "are you leaving a tip?" On the spot I said sure, 20. That was the fourth red flag. When going over aftercare, he told me to use "table salt" on my belly button piercing. (I have quite a few body modifications, I certainly did not use table salt) Jim said it would heal "in two weeks" with that method. A simple google search shows a belly button piercing won't be fully healed for 9 months to a year. That was the fifth red flag. 48 hours later, I woke up covered in a mysterious green and yellow liquid, seeping from my belly button. It was infected. I took a closer look at it, noticed I was pierced with a bar that didn't give my navel any room to breathe during healing. I began to take it out. In order to get it out, I had to actually break the balls that he used to put it on. I can promise you, the reviews on Google are all fake. To make you feel like YOU wanted to leave a review on Google for him, he enters you in a raffle for a free tattoo or piercing. I can assure you, the reviews on yelp are real, the ones on Google, are not. The people here telling about their awful experience, are real. I got lucky and I wasn't harassed the same way some people on here have been, but given my experience I don't doubt it did happen. read more

The owner Jimmy and his accomplice (the piecer) are highly unprofessional and lacked basic etiquette when it comes to being an owner of a shop and being a tattooer in general. My sister came to visit at the last minute and we wanted a traveling sister tattoo. We text and were responded to quickly. All of our many questions were answered and when we went in to the shop it was very clean. Jimmy wiped up a design we had in mind and was able to take care of all three of us. He makes you feel comfortable and we had a great visit. Staff was also friendly and I would recommend giving East Coast Ink a try if you are looking for a tattoo. They also offer piecing. I rarely leave reviews, but this is one of the worst experiences I've had getting tattooed. And I've been to many tattoo artists. Jimmie East was highly unprofessional, both during and after my tattoo session this week. He made several inappropriate comments. He offered me alcohol and cannabis multiple times, even after each refusal. His only apology was "I'm sorry if I offended you." I was uncomfortable to say the least, and when I told him so, he said I had offended him. Before leaving I saw my PayPal payment was pending, and left him my email so if there was a problem he could contact me. I said I could resend it no problem. Then he sends me an email threatening to call the police and to have them get a warrant. For a pending payment. I brought my cousin with me and it was the day of a Bills game. we told him we had plans to go and we didn't have forever to wait around. Oh, Jimmy. I don't even know where to start. First off, he's very well known in the tattoo community...as a fraud. He's not allowed at tattoo conventions and he steals others' artwork (this came directly out of four artists' mouths). He messed up my septum piercing (it was literally crooked, kind of like the way he is), so I had to get it repierced by a professional. Stupid me should have put two and two together about how he gives his customers "money off" to write him a nice review. Here's where the real reviews are. He charged me $250 for this tattoo that I almost had to get lasered off--that's how dark and hideous it was. My real and normal tattoo artist was able to put a lot of white and lighter colors to fix the awful shading and POS tattoo Jimmie created. He is one shady dude. He also makes inappropriate comments. I wish I could give this disgusting establishment 0 stars. How they are still in business is completely beyond me. Jimmie pierced me and was a rude, sexist piece of shit from the minute we walked in. We are in the middle of a pandemic and not a single mask was in sight on him or his rat-looking friend. On top of that, he was chewing tobacco while piercing me and coughing into the air. I want to throw up just thinking about that piece of shit. They also were sweeping and painting which is completely unsanitary for a tattoo shop. I went in for a belly button piercing and after being "welcomed" in the rudest way possible, Jimmie proceeded to boast about how he's the "best piercer in the area" more times than I can count. He also aggressively told me multiple times that he is "the only piercer that knows how to do belly button piercings properly" This man desperately needs to see a therapist. I received the most botched belly button piercing that hurt like a BITCH (which I now know is not right because I've since gotten a proper one). This wasn't even the worst of it. Only after Jimmie put the hole in my body and stuck the piercing in, he tells me that he actually didn't have the correct size jewelry for me, so he put one in that was way too big and it's just going to hurt and cause a ton of issues while healing, until we can change it out. And I was supposed to buy the new correctly sized jewelry myself! He fucked up my piercing, only told me after the damage was already done, then told me I just had to figure it out myself. When i proceeded to ask questions about how to get myself the correct jewelry (because he's supposed to be the professional, not me), he interrupted me, cut me off, and responded so, so rudely, not even answering my questions. I had to take the piercing out immediately after getting home because literally after 2 hours it was already rejecting out of my skin. I got it redone at Lucky DeVille for a discount and the contrast between the two establishments is like night and day. I entered his shop in hopes that he could replace my snake eyes piercing (it's pierced, i just needed the jewelry to be replaced for me). He was just so mean and yelling at me. Told me cash only with the worst attitude ever. I was so scared and nervous I was actually shaking. I then asked him another question about another piercing I have, I wanted to know what size gauge it was, again, yelling and being soooooo rude. When I got to East Coast Ink and saw the sign "TATTOO'S" displayed instead of the actual name of the shop, that should've been my first red flag. Apparently this wasn't enough to deter me, and neither was the fact that the owner was smoking a joint out of a 1940s cigarette holder when I pulled up. I was accompanied by my sister to get a tongue piercing, and through pure stubborness stayed at the shop to go through with the piercing because I didn't feel like going anywhere else (my mistake). Jimmie managed to "hint" that I was getting the piercing for sexual purposes for my girlfriend (who was my sister, and I repeated this each time he asked) at least 5 times throughout the entire experience, and when I finally told him that wasn't the case he asked what my reasoning was. "To look cool!" I said happily, only for Jimmie to laugh and say "Ok, fucking freak." Despite this, I STILL DECIDED to get the piercing, which Jimmie unsurprisingly absolutely messed up. Prior to paying, Jimmie said the piercing was on sale after I seemed a bit apprehensive given everything wrong about the shop. But I took it and when I smelled it I realized it was alcohol and strong alcohol which myself and my boyfriend didn't drink because it was very weird. Before he started he told my boyfriend not to move or he will charge him more. He was only breathing and the guy kept getting mad. He was also drinking right before he started the tattoo. He got an arm done and said," This is too small I can't do it. It's gonna look like shit in 5 years." My boyfriend said he didn't care at that point because he already started. The owner of this shop is a racist bully. And maybe at one point he may have done work worthy of his prices, but that's not what we received. My husband and I went in with concept designs, his attempt to create anything worth what we were charged was extremely poor. He insulted one of my other tattoos (highly unprofessional) he offered alcohol and drugs multiple times despite our declining it. He was extremely rude and just a bully. The way he spoke to customers let alone the other artist that was there was despicable. He absolutely tries to buy good reviews with offers like coupons and "pay for 4 tattoos get the 5th free". I will need to have my tattoo redone because it looks bad. And I'm still not sure how his "$150/hr" cost us $500, because he spent less than an hour on mine and the artist that did my husband's tattoo doesn't have a ton of experience (she was up front about that) so her fee should have been less. I do not have the words to fully express my disgust for this place. I went in with my mother so she could get her nose pierced. Right off the bat, I knew something was off about this place. While it was very clean and orderly and seemed like a nice physical establishment, the owner (Jim) is an absolutely sexist, disgusting, rude piece of garbage. My mother has been married for over 30 years but she doesn't wear her ring because she has bad arthritis. He's immediately asking her if she's married and questioning the lack of her wedding ring because, and I quote, she's "hot" and is his "type". I'm very glad I did not let my mother go alone because I would not want her alone in this place. I would not want any woman alone in this place with him. He is egotistical and claims he is number one rated in Western New York - that's a lie. He is telling her to wash her piercing with table salt; you might as well just rub a french fry on your nose for same effect. I have multiple facial piercings myself, and he specifically told my mom not to listen to how I took care of my piercings because I did not go to him and his way is "the only way and the best way". I wish I was making this up, but these are exact quotes. As far as I'm aware, nose piercings should only be done with a stud and not with a hoop, as hoops have a better likelihood of interrupting the healing process. I'm not a piercer so I could be wrong on that, but that's what I've been told by other piercers. He claims that no one has ever gotten a keloid scar from him, as if that actually has anything to do with it; some people are genetically predisposed to keloid scarring, it doesn't necessarily have anything to do with his "expertise". He blames every person who's ever gotten an infection on them, saying that one girl got a nipple piercing infected and he blamed it on the fact that she either "slept in a dirty sheet" or that "somebody came on her nipple" in order for it to be infected. Not to mention, we were there for a half hour and 20 minutes of it was him running his mouth about how good he is. He even had the audacity to question my mother's quality of tattoos. Women beware, if you truly must go to this man, do not go alone and certainly don't go for any piercings below the neck. You will notice that the only bad reviews are on Yelp; that's because business owners can't request ratings to be removed like you can on Google. Got a septum piercing done and the piercer was very shaky, didn't check the height of the septum or mark anything and pierced the hard cartilage of my nose. He then told me he "put the piercing high so I could flip it up", I believe he only noticed after that he put it up too high and tried to cover his mistake. Even if it was on purpose, it was extremely unprofessional to not check the placement with me beforehand. A complete waste of $70. The tattoo artist Jimmie was also there and making racist comments/jokes about the Vietnamese restaurant nearby, saying "it was clean and there isnt any cat in their food", and just being extremely rude about it in general. They also told me the septum piercing would be fully healed in 2 weeks and to clean it using a saline solution of table salt and tap water. I didn't follow those instructions and used regular saline solution, i think its pretty obvious that tap water could introduce bacteria and other contaminants to a fresh piercing and it's very surprising to me that any "professional" piercer would advise aftercare like that. Went in to get my teenager's ear pierced and Jim yelled at us for wearing masks. He said he wouldn't service my daughter because I was wearing a mask. What??? COVID is still alive and well and there is no way I would believe ole' Jimbo has been vaccinated. This man clearly has a problem. We chose this place due to the 5 star rating on Google. What a joke. I felt like something was wrong as soon as we walked in. I had no idea the shop had such a bad rating on Yelp.Thank God we dodged a bullet.
