It's not easy writing this review, and if any of you are out there right now looking for a funeral…read morehome on yelp I'm sorry for your loss. You are going through a hard time right now and I hope your doing okay. I don't know how else to really get into this review without telling it like a story. I had left a job and was driving up to Wisconsin to visit my parents in the few weeks I had between when I left the old job and started the new. When I reached my parents house my father, aunt, and uncle were waiting outside. A little unusual, but I didn't think much of it. After a few minutes of shooting the shit my dad dropped it on me that my mother had passed away just a few hours prior to my arrival. When he was pressed to name a funeral home he gave Schneider's as the place to take her body. They had previously done the viewing for a cousin who had passed prior. Dad remembered them having done well for his family so that's where we went. I went with my father meeting the funeral director and he was amazing to us. He went through everything in a compassionate yet professional and businesslike way. He laid out what the funeral homes services would cost and went over what we wanted for the viewing and so forth and was great in working with the church in the area to set up a mass for the funeral (Catholic Family). He was great as we picked out the images and text for the cards being presented at the viewing. I cannot say enough about how wonderful my mother looked at the viewing. I remember my childhood going to several funerals of relatives and remember them looking like the wax museum versions of themselves. That was not the case for my mom. She looked as though she could wake up at any moment. I don't know if that makes the grieving process any easier or if it makes it harder, but I know I appreciated it. One last thing I want to mention about Schneider's and I want to preface the telling of this is that I want what I'm about to say to reflect positively on them and I in no way hold them responsible. At some point between when my mom passed and she arrived at the funeral home she had a ring that had been in my family for 100+ years go missing. The fact of the matter is that Mr. Schneider was arguably more upset than we were. It was almost as if it was his families heirloom was gone. I cannot commend him enough for the compassion regarding this he showed my family.

"Rash" Nelson. The home was originally located at the east end of the Court Street Bridge. After John's death, "Rash" continued the business by buying Kimball Funeral Home at 158 South Jackson. In 1930, John H. Nelson started working with his father and the name was changed to Nelson-Kimball Funeral Home. He eventually became sole owner of the business in 1942. In 1960 Neal Schneider went into partnership with Nelson. After Nelson's death two years later, Neal Schneider and his wife, Dee, took over the business. In 1972 the name of the business changed to Schneider Funeral Home, and in 1974 a new funeral home was built on East Racine Street. Neal Schneider received his Funeral Director's license in 1956 and worked for Overton Funeral Home for four years before becoming Nelson's partner. Currently, Neal and Dee Schneider's son, William and grandson Neal J Schneider are the owners of the funeral home. Although the environment and the people change, Schneider's concept of funeral service has continued on. "It's helping people during a very critical, very difficult period of time," said Schneider. "its service to people that's always been the same. We know that it's a very hard time for people when there's a death, and we try to help them."

The fit and installation by Loren is easily 5 out of 5 stars for rating. Loren replaced all components other than the opener with all new parts. I was in Arkansas between flights at the time and called Country Door (who installed my garage doors and openers in 2011). Nick told me he would take care of getting the door closed with a service person OR he would do it himself. I sent my daughter off AND jumped on my flight. (This near the end of what I assume are normal working hours for an installer.) I confirmed the door was closed when I hit the ground in Texas. :) Patrick was here today. He repaired the cables and did a maintenance check on both doors. He was an excellent communicator and shared the costs BEFORE he did the work. He also explained how I could lower the door if necessary and what to expect when my springs eventually fail. He also gave me a few easy maintenance tips. If I could give a six star rating I would . Excellent communication, reliable service and confidence in the work, and the original install (with NO maintenance by me) lasted 11 years...... I cannot speak highly enough about the team at Country Door Systems and their products. Thank you so much to them.

Unfortunately, they missed some mold, and I had to call them back to cut out more drywall. This was a big disappointment. I don't understand how it was missed. The missed mold was right up to the edge of the drywall, meaning the drywall they cut out would also have mold right up to the edge, and they are supposed to remove one foot past where the mold ends. I found it when I was putting insulation back in, and I could have easily missed it myself which could have led to the mold continuing to grow and having another big problem later.  Also, I was given a work authorization to sign, but with no written breakdown of what the work would actually entail: which parts of the house, the process to remove the mold, etc. I had to request this. All other mold mitigation companies I contacted gave me a quote with a very detailed written breakdown of the work to be performed. If you go with them, make sure you ask for the details of the work to be performed in writing and don't settle for just a verbal explanation of what they will do.

Then showed up 10 days later to grab their equipment and left. Charged my insurance company over $6,000 and once they got their money, I never heard from them again. For 3 months I left numerous voicemails which were never returned. I was initially told that they would be in touch with some proposals to replace the drywall, flooring, paint, etc. but never heard a single thing. So I was just left to scramble on my own and I am still attempting to find someone to finish putting my basement all back together and it has literally been over 4 months now. Live and learn I guess. I would have been better off renting a commercial shop vac and dehumidifiers and done it all myself and saved myself from being dropped by my insurance company. So very disappointing.
