This is a great place to shop particularly if you are renovating and older home and need trim or…read moresiding from that time period. They are friendly but may seem rude, to the point. What do you need? They are a primary source for many builders. They do free delivery of lumber orders to the local projects. I don't remember the threshold but it wasn't high. Pricing is competitive for most items, sometimes cheaper than the big box stores, particularly when you have to drive 15-18 miles, try to find someone to help and find they may not have what you need. Give them a chance, smile and tell them you need help. I know they'll help and give you a fare price.

I have shopped at this location 7 times since moving to Niceville almost ten years ago. My first…read morefour times I was met with an incredibly rude and damn near aggressive cashier. He would laugh at any time I should show any hint of ignorance about lumber or fasteners or whatever else I'm not an expert in. As a customer, I had thought I'd be greeted with help rather than sarcasm and disdain. Then, I had two more experiences that were much better, in that the newer cashier was simply silent. Had nothing to add, nothing to offer and I thought, "this, at least, is an improvement over the last guy". No insults, no being talked down to, and I was pleased and thought maybe this isn't such a bad store after all. My FINAL experience... I'm the only one in the store (customers/employees) wearing a mask. I'm fine with that, I don't think anyone should have to wear a mask if they don't want to... but I WANT TO! And I don't want to be given an attitude from the cashier (who was kind and pleasant to all the other customers) for ANY reason. But this guy was openly hostile from the moment and I said, "good morning" and he mumbled back "mumble mumble F****** S*** mumble mumble." He was openly sneering at me, yet took the time to cordially answer another customer's question in the middle of our interaction (a question that she was actually asking a completely different employee). The management here is apparently willing to put their worst employees at the front and I'd rather drive out to Fort Walton and not be treated like straight up garbage. Having said that, the gentlemen in the back area where I collected my purchase were a mixed bag. One of the them helped me load my truck and was VERY careful to not do any damage inside the vehicle. I thought he was great. The other one, not so much. See the cashier... he had told me to wait at dock 2. But when I approached dock 2 and asked if the ONLY PERSON there could help, he laughed while turning away from me; and while walking away - pointed behind himself at a forklift nearly 30 yards away and said, "maybe that guy will help you." Maybe that guy will help me? F*** this place, I'm never coming back.

That Guy I want to be that guy…read more that knows how to fix a transmission or put a cabin together, with only an axe. However, I am that guy who wanders hardware stores picking up Swiss Army knives and dreaming of conquering nature by whittling a thousand sticks, or of constructing furniture using only an awl and a spokeshave not having a clue what they are or do. I am that guy who hunts for the perfect tool box for his Swiss Army Knife and Screwdriver, who dreams of working in the garage on a project so diabolically engineered that it only requires a Swiss Army knife and a screwdriver to take it apart. If society ever breaks down I hope I will know how to create a preppers kingdom defended by boobytraps. In any hardware store I can be seen searching for boobytrap kits traps that can be easily assembled with a spokeshave and an awl. They have a wide range of hardware necessities and plants too. It's conveniently located too, next to Publix. It's great!

My responsibility? Ace sold it, they should honor it. Really lousy service. I'll not go back and spend money with Ace. I'm giving a star, but none is earned.
