My wife and I had to change our longtime family dentist, due to insurance coverage. So we looked for something closer to our home and found this location. Checked the reviews and it appeared to be ok. After just one visit, I immediately started looking for another dentist. No issues with the staff. Everyone we talked to prior to our appointment and on the day of, was very friendly. The issue we had was with our dentist. She was so unprofessional from the way that she spoke to us, to the way that she was dressed. She did both of our examinations in what I can only describe as a party dress. Maybe she was going somewhere immediately after, but not what I would expect. But even more concerning is her examinations. She told me that she was going to clean my teeth but would only do half of it, and that I needed to schedule a second appointment within a week to do a "deep clean". I am 45 and have NEVER had a cavity. So I was shocked that my teeth would be that bad. She said the same thing to my wife and also told my wife that she had 6 cavities!!! We left feeling confused and unsure about this dentist. The next day my wife called to see if we can get a copy of our records and the X-rays. They NEVER followed up with us. We waited on this review until we could verify and get a second opinion. Our insurance would not cover another check up until 6 months later, so we finally got confirmation from our new dentist...which we loved!! No cavities for either of us, and a normal cleaning. I would just say that I love going to the dentist now! At first, I was really afraid of going in but as an adult, I really have to handle these dental issues I have as early as possible. On my first visit, they are very welcoming. Her assistant, Irene, helped me relieved my nervousness as she prepared me for my dental x-rays. I got my first crown from them, and got three of my tooth extracted. My wisdom tooth was so big (like around 1 inch) and its a real challenge to take it out, but I am amazed with Dr. Florabel's work as she extracted it precisely and safely. I broke a piece of my tooth Cause I thought biting down on a piece of candy was a good idea. Looking at you Lifesaver. I know bad habit to have, but this is the first time I had ever had a problem with that habit.(Guess I'm not as young as I used to be.) Went here a couple years ago, I had an early morning appointment and the entire staff + Dr. Florabel was late. I literally watched her entire team open the office lol. Not something a patient should see. Dr. Florabel seemed knowledgeable. Her staff are very welcoming and nice. However, you don't go to any doctors office to see pretty staff members. You go there for your health to be evaluated and taken care of. I only went in for a routine cleaning, got a routine cleaning, but was charged 170$. I had already confirmed the copay would be $20 over the phone, and confirmed that they took my insurance. My insurance website at the time, cigna, also listed them as taking cigna. They even had a big ol cigna sticker in the front window office. Re confirmed with receptionist before doing paperwork. At the end of my cleaning they said heres the bill, $170, i argued that this wasn't right, and Dr. Florabel stepped in almost immediately and said "your insurance probably won't pay it". I was young back then so I paid anyways. Never coming back here again. Unprofessional and they seem to be using an all female staff as a way to get people in. read more

When I moved to San Diego, I needed to find a dental clinic to do my regular checkups and cleaning so my housemate recommended Dr. Oliver's clinic. I was very satisfied with my visit and will rely on their clinic for future dental visits. The staff is absolutely the best with the friendly, welcoming service, I felt right at home with them. By far, the best quality dentist I ever had. She is sweet, kind, and love her staff and patients. I came in during COVID-19 season due to having impacted wisdom tooth that was partially erupted. I was in a lot of pain and Doctor didn't mind, she helped me even though many other doctors wouldnt service right now. Went in to get my tooth repaired and they said that I needed a crown done because my tooth could not be repaired. Spent 500 dollars on the procedure +the insurance money they collected and 3 months down the line the crown falls out.. I go in for them to fix it and they give me a temporary fix that only lasted 1 hour . Had to wait 2 weeks for another tooth and so here I am toothless. After they fixed it the 3rd time, 1 month later the new crown replacement falls off again!... never coming back!! read more

If you have insurance, run away. Like some other reviewers said, they were excited to find a dentist that had great/raving reviews. Woo! I graduated this year and found a great job in San Diego, so I haven't had the time to fly back and see my family dentist in northern California. I thought I might as well find a dentist down here as: 1. I hadn't had my teeth cleaned in over a year, 2. I'm living here permanently so why not? I yelped some dentists with good reviews nearby, called them up to see if they accepted my insurance, and then scheduled an appointment. When I got there, I got a great impression of the place. Very cozy, the front desk was very kind and helpful. I got taken to the back, sat down, and they started the x-rays. That took a while, but eventually I was ready to get my teeth cleaned. I met Dr. Oliver and she seemed very sweet and very kind -- reminded me a lot of my mom! So far so good, right? But then the first red flag appeared. She noted that I hadn't had my wisdom teeth removed yet. My dentist up north (Nancy) has known me and cleaned my teeth for 20+ years. She has seen me through all my different stages; prehistoric rat teeth, braces, etc. She's noted that my wisdom teeth do not seem to be growing and that I DO NOT NEED THEM REMOVED. Dr. Oliver stated that I should get them removed ASAP and that she would be more than happy to recommend me to someone. That wigged me out a bit, but hey... things can happen in a year and maybe my wisdom teeth were finally coming in. I asked her, "What's wrong with them? Are they growing in side ways?" She said YES. Her response kind of threw me for a loop and seemed kinda weird, but I brushed it off. Whatever. I'm here to get my teeth cleaned. Dr. Oliver then noted that I had two SMALL cavities (this is important!). I kind of assumed that was the case because I hadn't had my teeth cleaned in over a year and... well, I'm not the best when it comes to flossing... She cleaned it pretty quick and I thought that that was that. She was a little rough, but no big deal. We finished and then I was ready to go. After the teeth cleaning I noticed that my gums were still a little sore. I know that if you haven't had your teeth cleaned in a while, it can be sore for a few days so I didn't think much of it. What I was most concerned, however, was looking into the wisdom teeth removal. The only way dentists can tell if you require your wisdom teeth to be removed is via a panoramic x-ray -- where the x-ray goes around your entire head. The x-ray they had given me was a bitewing x-ray. When I asked to see the x-rays so I could see my wisdom teeth and understand the situation, they told me that the x-rays did NOT tell or reveal what was wrong with my wisdom teeth. Sooo why did she say I needed to get it removed ASAP? How did she know?????? That was a sign that she was shady as hell and I should probably not return, but I thought I'd just give her the benefit of the doubt. She seemed to clean my teeth just fine so whatever, right?! BIG MISTAKE. I went in for my cavity filling last week and thought that this would be it, I'd just see them in 6 months and say nothing about my wisdom teeth blahblahblah. I've had cavity fillings before and they've never been anything too crazy. I sit back, they fill it in, I'm done. This was not the case. What raised another red flag for me was when Dr. Oliver started injecting my gums to numb them. Nancy always used the gel and it always got the job done without being over the top or too painful. I assume Dr. Oliver numbed it because she is NOT gentle whatsoever and this gave her wiggle room to be as rough as she wanted, but then she started drilling my teeth, filling it in, and then using one of those UV light to harden the filling... I've never had ANY of this before, so this was super confusing and weird to me. After the filling hardened, she had to shave my tooth down. This all seemed incredibly strange and suspicious to me as just 2 weeks ago, Dr. Oliver had told me that I had TWO SMALL CAVITIES, so why was she going HAM for two SUPPOSEDLY tiny things!? Well, it all made sense when when we finished and I went to the front desk. They dropped the following bomb on me: apparently my insurance did not cover the types of fillings they did for my two teeth and I would have to pay $100+ out of pocket to cover the rest. WTF!? At no point did anyone notify me of this. They just dropped it on me and expected me to pay right then and there! Dr. Oliver used the most expensive (and excessive) method she could to MAX out my insurance and then make me pay more. BIG WTF!!! NOT ok! Suddenly her wanting me to remove my wisdom teeth made A LOT more sense. I am never coming back here as, along with all of that, my gums STILL ACHE. She did not clean my teeth thoroughly after all. I'd rather spend $400 to fly home to Nancy who I KNOW will treat and clean my teeth right. Nice people at this office, but they only care about $$$. Avoid. read more

I know too many dentists who try to upsell you on what you need, insists on doing procedures that may not need to be done and basically takes a couple paychecks from you. Dr. Oliver Badillo and her staff are all very sweet and honest. They work to help you, not drain you of your monies. They are super prompt and are always on top of things- especially when it comes to insurance. I was told by another dental office I needed to get my root canal redone- Dr. Oliver Badillo took a look and told me I didn't have to. Awesome right? And her wonderful staff helped me calculate costs along my insurance allowance/maximum so that I wouldn't have to pay anything extreme out of pocket.
