The basis is that the cast creates their own private "Garden of Eden" in hopes of making a world perfect for themselves. But the shadowy villians, who are more comical than creepy, plan on ruining this place of perfection. I loved this show because it was just so off. I'm used to ball gowns and suits, proper poise and manners. Instead, with this show, you get full out profanity, corests, revealing legs, and a great time. The cast was amazing, and very personable. The actualy seating is wonderful. Comfy couches and beds, pillows draped on the floor. It's an extremely intimate setting. And if you're lucky enough (like I was) you'll be included in the finale audience participation and drafted into the Swan's Army. Seriously, check it out while you can. You'll be disappointed if you miss this one!

The building's architecture is a fantastic jungle gym for the dancers, and yet watching the piece, it doesn't seem disjointed. There is a sense of magic and mystery in how all of the elements fit together. There are memorable images throughout. Sometimes we just see a portion of the body, other times the entire company is in our field of vision. Either way it isn't important to see the whole dance at once; rather the various elements add up to their own logic and it all hangs together.

She's a local choreographer (with dance gang) who appears at various local venues in SF. The performance was called "At Play" - sounds conventional but it was anything but. The audience moved around to different areas within the theater to view pieces of the performance. We stood outside in an alley to watch a dance segment taking place on the fire escapes, along with street people, neighbors, and a trio of musicians. It was not all gimmick or hook though - the movement of dancers being propelled within door frames, outside windows and down staircases was compelling and energizing. High quality live music really added to the show. Imaginative and full of fun, I'll be watching her website to see what's up next. Even if you're not a huge dance fan, Lizz Roman's work is accessible and highly entertaining.

They are really -- I don't know -- I want to say "scatological" because their humor is SCATTERED all over the fucking place and leads you from one laughing moment to the next w/out you realizing the moments were connected... But, that would be the wrong contextual use of the word "scatological," wouldn't it? I could still use it considering that Libby and Dickson did a scene where they were on the crapper together... so it works. These guys are funny. And, Libby (in the time since I saw him last) has grown a hell of a 'stache - which - in of it's self is worth the price of admission just to view.

Robert Moses' Kin exhibits Alvin Ailey/Judith Jamison ritual-like choreography, but uses a full repertoire of neoclassical and modern elements. More than other modern dance performances I've see, Kin can be ironic, use metaphor, or even be a little playful at any given time. The new piece, "slowly watching memory" was a delight, but the last piece "Speaking ill of the dead" leaves a lasting impression.

What I really like about it is the extreme energy I receive from them in the small space also beside their strong and unique choreograph. This was my first time watching a performance in the theater. The theater is not as big as theaters…read moresuch as the Orpheum or the Golden Gate Theatre. We went to see, "Into the Woods" and we sat in row BB. It was the second row from the stage. Seats were standard. We liked that we could see the performances face up close. Since we were in the first level, we only noticed one women's bathroom and one men's bathroom. We also saw one water fountain, and we brought a reusable water bottle. However, the taste of the water was very bad. We could not drink it. We hope that the water taste improves the next time we return.
