Summer solstice gathering. Field of organic produce

Great produce from Sunday Farm Stand. By donation and plentiful , so I was able to get all that I needed for my family! Beautiful herb garden and monarch restoration plot.

This is truly a phenomenal and well organized community farm! It's huge! During certain times you can walk through the garden and pick your own vegetables, bring your family and help out with the garden or do a walk through. We had to come back because my 4-year old wanted to come back to work in the Children's Garden. Have you ever harvested your own veggies, cut your own herbs? The volunteers are all very dedicated in helping you and your kids learn. If you don't have a garden at home it's the perfect place to spend an hour or so with your kids to learn some gardening skills. If your kids are adamant that they already know how, it's a great for teaching them about all the various plants and herbs. Or, that their expert knowledge in harvesting is needed to help out at the community farm. All the plants are well marked. All the produce is sold for a donation to keep the farm running. Do take time to take a tour so you can truly take in the beauty of their community spirit.

Admission is free of cost too, with staff available inside the entrance to answer any questions guests may have. I visited this past Saturday and was captivated by the beauty of this place. And it's actually much larger than it seems from the outside. I enjoyed trekking the winding dirt trails and flagstone pathways, wooden foot bridges crossing over the creek, strolling through a forest of trees, exploring a diverse collection of beautiful plants and flowers including mackenzie's willow, bearberry, western azalea, and star lily, so many rare and endangered species, everything clearly labeled. My fave was humboldt's lily with its vibrant orange hue and intricate features that mesmerized me as I made my way through this enchanting maze. During my self-guided tour, I was enamored by this garden's storybook setting and charmed by the occasional bee and butterfly I encountered along the way. There's a visitor center and plant sale on site too. And I saw groups having picnics and gatherings in more secluded areas of the park. Needless to say, this place has a lot to offer and appreciate.

We have even seen people take pictures here on their wedding day and ourselves taken family photos here. They have so many different types of plants here, it's cool to explore and be one with nature. The reason I come to this one more often is because it's closer to me in the East Bay. They don't have a lot of organic produce and the prices for all the produce is a bit high for what it is. There's a lot of different pastry booths and there's a Semi Freddy's Cafe close by. The Frog Hollow farm has great fruit and pretty good simple pastries. They also offer their fruit preserves on a discount that is much cheaper than in stores or online. Their apricot preserves is one of their best ones and has the least amount of sugar. I come here quite often to get lunch on the weekends. There's also a really nice rotisserie chicken truck that makes amazing rotisserie chicken for about $17 and they also have rotisserie duck and rotisserie pork. They have a lot of roasted vegetables that can come with their rotisserie meat but unfortunately, all their potatoes and vegetables are covered with animal grease so it is not for people watching their cholesterol. It's easy to pick up a whole rotisserie chicken for a lovely Sunday meal and have leftovers for work for a few days. It's better than any rotisserie chicken from the supermarket but will cost about twice as much. However, you get to see them roast your chicken so you know it's very fresh and the skin is crisp.
