First time here. Special is steak or Orange Roughy. Went steak tonight. Wife got half slab ribs. (Huge portion for 1/2 slab!). Side salad was very good. They give you more than just a plate of lettuce. Steak was cooked correctly and very good. Ribs were very tender and came right off the bone. I will be back for the orange Roughy next time! What a nice place to eat. I was visiting from northern Wyoming and when they made me feel special. The food was great and the staff was wonderful. Great NY steak and ribs. Salad was very fresh and dressings were very good. Rolls and the sweet cinnamon butter was nice touch. Dessert selection presentation nice. We got ours 'to go'. Coconut cake was awesome! Enjoyed the atmosphere and architectural features of building. There is a lot of history with that building and it has been preserved. Enjoyed learning the history of the building during our visit. Our waitress was fantastic! We will be back! Anxious to try their weekend breakfast. Almost forgot one important item! Built in the 1800's, at one time it was a hotel and restaurant. You walk in the door and are met by a stairway up or a door into the dining room. One inside, it's probably not changed much in the last 100 years, well except for the jagermeister machine on the bar.... The fried mushrooms are hand breaded and a great way to start a meal. The club sandwich was served with a heaping stack of seasoned fries and the grilled chicken breast sandwich was way bigger than the bun. The service was friendly, if a little slow. Rumor has it, this place is haunted. Overall a good place out in the country! read more

Can't review on food. Thirty minutes after being seated, went to Bar for our drinks. Advised Hostess twice that no one had checked our table. After one hour and no one coming to table we left. Did notice while walking out several that had come in after us were almost finished with their food. If you don't mind waiting till hell freezes over, it might be a good place to eat. I just took my family out to eat here and the food was excellent. My oldest daughter and I had the New York strip and it was awesome. My wife had the rib eye and that was great as well. The garlic mashed potatoes were very good. My youngest daughter had the fried shrimp and it was exceptional. I would highly recommend trying this restaurant is worth the visit. read more

The only reason I am giving this a two instead of a one is because the waitress was great. We went to a birthday party for a friend and everyone was there at 5:00. They had had reservations for a party of 40 for over a month. I knew we would be there forever when there was only one waitress for what turned out to be 33 people. We had made reservations because of the large group. It was as if there were no reservations at all. We did not even get our drinks for an hour, then by the time all of the orders were taken, it was 6:45. An hour and forty- five minutes before orders were even taken!!!! Then, finally, she brought out the kids' orders first, and although the orders were very generous portions, all of the hamburgers were burnt. We had waited forever so we were not going to send them back; we just cut off the crispy outside of the meat. Everyone got their orders; people that asked for no tomatoes still got tomatoes, a tropical salad was minus the coconut, but overall the food was decent. There was no coffee, however, because the waitress said the coffee maker had been broken for a few days. What?????Anyway, everyone finally finished and was ready to go. It took over twenty minutes to get our checks, and then another ten to get our credit cards returned to us. Bottom line- this was a terrible restaurant experience. We will not be back. read more

Date night at the Florentine with my spouse. 3rd visit in 2 weeks. Prime rib cooked just the way I like it. Loaded spuds are great. The margaritas are excellent! Service is outstanding from hostess, bartender to server. Our server tonight was Amber, very friendly and attentive. Florentine is a great hometown Gem. Worth the drive for those not G'town locals!! We went here for the first time tonight. We loved the ambience of the place. You could feel the history of the building. We were seated by a lovely woman and next to the cozy fireplace. Once seated we were immediately greeted by our server and several other staff members. Since we had not been there before we asked for recommendations which we were given. We ordered the combo appetizer and it was hot and plenty to share. The salads were crisp and not out of a bag. The homemade house dressing was perfectly blended of Parmesan and pepper. I ordered the French Onion soup, since it is a favorite of mine, and mouth was surprised by the wonderful herb and spices used as well as fresh croutons. My husband ordered the Prime Rib medium and it was cooked perfectly and was moist and tender. I recommend the horseradish with it. I had the full order of baby back ribs and wow was my only word for when they came out. I did not expect the huge plate of ribs especially since other restaurants do not give you a full rack. I had the Merlot house wine and it was a perfect combination with my meal. I highly recommend this restaurant. It is perfectly priced to feel like you are in a 5 star restaurant . In fact this hidden Gem in Germantown is definitely one of the best restaurants on the Dayton area. read more

The last time 18 months ago i had a bad meal. This time it was worst , burn't deep fried mushrooms, Cold slaw was spoiled, Zazzam ham sandwich was mushy . The waitress new something was bad , just kept saying sorry. We did complain about the cold slaw , we just want the bill for we could leave. Never again. read more

First time visit and had heard mixed reviews but decided to take a chance. Took a while before anyone came to see us and she asked if we'd like drinks. Yes and gave our order plus an appetizer. Brought bread and water about 5 minutes later, no drinks. Appetizer came...still no drinks. Sadly, the bacon wrapped shrimp were so overcooked, the shrimp were almost crunchy. Came to get our dinner order, still no drinks. Gave her our dinner order. We saw the bartender make one of the drinks but not the other. In the meantime, she's talking with folks at the bar, getting them drinks....no problem. Then our salads came...supposed to be without onion and tomatoes. Both had onion and tomatoes. We told the waitress to cancel the drink order, even though we could see one of them sitting there and it had been for a good 5 minutes. Finally steaks and Au'gratin potatoes came out. Both steaks order medium. My wife's was medium well, my filet was about as well done and crispy as you could get. The potatoes were dry and the cheese firm like it had been out of the oven for quite some time. Bill came to $80 with tip and wasn't worth even half that amount. I've heard you can get a good meal there, but evidently it's a 50-50 proposition. read more
