We had Deja as our server and she was so pleasant and fun. She did an amazing job. We enjoyed some cold drinks and I had the wings and fries. The wings were crispy and the sauce was just right. Please fly surprised by this hole in the wall spot in Dayton. Fries are the highlight for sure. Stopped here before a basketball game for a quick bite. Plenty of tables available and a few people at the bar. Event space upstairs. Very dive bar feel, almost like you'd expect your feet to stick tk the floor but everything relatively clean. Bathrooms could use some updating but they were mostly clean as well. Got the pretzel bites and they were okay, not amazing. I really want to like this place. I am gong to put it on our list of places to check out this summer. I went today for a work lunch. The good: Atmosphere, it has a cool vibe, restaurant and bar, but not overly loud. Service/staff, awesome. We had a reservation for an upstairs room. When we arrived, they we're going to seat us downstairs, but the manager was great about moving our party upstairs. Even though it was extra work for our server, she did an amazing job and we didn't feel forgotten. The fries, seriously some of the best fries I've ever eaten. They reminded me of the twisty fried potato on a stick from the fair. The onion straws, not overly battered or greasy. The okay: The fresh brewed tea, a little under brewed but not bad. The house made chips, tasty. But slightly over cooked for my preference. The not so good: I ordered the dragon fire chicken, it had great potential, but I was disappointed. The dragon fire sauce tasted just like Buffalo sauce, nothing special. The chicken breast was over cooked and dry. The rice was under cooked. Everything but the rice was edible, but not great. I'd give it another try though because it does have the potential to be good. My co-worker ordered the salmon, which she wanted medium to medium-well, it came out well done and dry. They were very gracious about it, and she ordered a Reuben instead, which she loved. Pretty much everyone else ordered various quesadillas. Their plates were all empty, so I think they whites them. They have a full bar, lots of local beers on tap and friendly bartenders. For food, they have some great choices. The "famous" chili is delicious and I especially enjoy the pulled pork sandwich. Our server was super friendly and personable 10/10 experience. We ordered the giant soft pretzel and while she was expensive ~$14, she was extremely tasty. The giant pretzel is actually giant, it comes with three sauces and you definitely need more than two people to eat it all. Here on a Friday because we were across the street at the Dragons game but it's April and cold. Ordered a couple beers and couple apps. Miller Lite beer tasted like the lines were skunked. Ordered pretzel sticks (at the bartenders recommendation over the giant pretzel) and the tortillas and queso. Unfortunately, both came with queso and the establishment was out of queso at 8pm on a Friday. So, changed the order to just the pretzel sticks with beer cheese (not normal but was what they offered in lieu). When the app came out, they brought our pretzel sticks and a free order of house made chips to make up for the issues. Unfortunately, the cook does not have access to salt so we asked for table salt for both the pretzels and chips. I would not recommend this place. Service was good and I think the bartender was honest in her recommendations but the overall experience, quality and lack of advertised food gives them 2 stars. read more

Our group reserved the upstairs area of Brixx for a team dinner and Bucks watch party. I can't speak to the downstairs experience, but the upstairs is pretty run down with paint peeling off the walls. And there are two tiny TVs. It was easier to watch on my phone than to try to see what was going on on the tiny screens. We expressed some concerns about there being enough room for four teams of 12 boys each and their families. We were told they had 200 people in the space recently, which surprised me because the area isn't very large. The staff didn't seem prepared for such a large group, which is odd because they knew we were coming. Ordering and service were a big, discombobulated mess. There were three in our group. We ordered a barbecue chicken quesadilla (my son really liked this and ate the leftovers the following day), a burger (an average burger, but the server never returned with the mustard and hot sauce requested for it), and a BLT (boring and I can make a better one at home). The best part of the restaurant is the view (you can watch the Dayton Dragons play from the upstairs windows), and the fries, which are tasty with a weird curvy shape. I've never had fries quite like them and they're pretty good. Also be aware of limited parking, especially during a Dragons game. A few in our group went back to their hotels and skipped dinner because they couldn't find parking. read more

Came to Brixx for a drink and absolutely loved it. The inside was your classic dive bar, and they have a great outdoor patio. We ordered gin gimlets and they were delicious, and we enjoyed them with a view of the ballpark across the street. We both agreed that the burger beat the Rueben, even though the Reuben was delish! The sweet potato fries were a bit under done, and that's the only thing that wasn't great. I'd recommend Brixx for chow, it's worthy 3 of us ate lunch here today. I had the meandering orange salad. A nice mix of greens, onions, cucumber, and dry chow main noodles. My wife and I went here to eat before a Dragons game. My wife has Celiac's disease and cannot under any circumstances consume gluten. We noticed there were items on the menu that were labeled " gluten free" but were not. An example is one of their salads with FRIED CHICKEN STRIPS in it. We asked the waitress if the chicken was gluten free. She was seriously undereducated in what gluten actually was, and had to go ask someone. It turned out that they were not. I explained to her that this could be a life or death situation for their customers and they needed to update their menu. No restaurant can legally claim a gluten free menu if they are not in fact gluten free. This is an FDA violation. Furthermore, this establishment should be required to educate its employees about not only their own menu, but food allergies as well. We will not be eating here again. read more

The food quality has declined drastically in the past 10 years. My Ruebin was a sauerkraut sandwich..the corned beef was fatty and speckled throughout the kraut. We came here based on the recommendation of friends before a Dragons game. We came early expecting a crowd. The line was to the door but amazingly we got seated upstairs right away. There are pros and cons to being upstairs. The pro is that we had an awesome view. The con is that there is absolutely no shade on the windows so we had to wear sunglasses and my back was burning up! Our server (I tried to remember his name, Sammy? Young, nice kid) was fast and even with a heavy crowd kept on top of drinks. Speaking of drinks, the beer only comes in small plastic cups or bottles, so don't think you're going to get a tall anything. I get it, they don't want people getting tables then walking to the game. The food was really good. We started with Mac and cheese bites served with marinara sauce. They were just ok, flavor seem bland to me but they all got eaten. Classic sports bar feel with some typical menu options. A group of us came here for a bite to eat before a Dayton Dragons game. Originally, we were hoping for another seating location in the upstairs... but we were put into a corner in the back. It ended up being fine, but it wasn't what we had originally asked for. (Maybe that's for the best, as I see from other reviews that the upstairs is kinda dirty/grungy... but I didn't see it, so who knows.) The wait staff did a good job of handling the numerous patrons coming into our space and the various orders (keeping everything separate), though the items coming from the kitchen got slower and slooooooooower. A number of folks were almost late to the game (and the stadium is right across the block) because it took much longer to get their food. The menu is fine... all bar-ish food. Bigger portions, but nothing that was particularly appetizing or prepared really well. I tried the Mac & Cheese Bites and they kinda crumbled apart once you cut into them (which you had to do because they were huge). The marinara just tasted like it came out of a can. TL;DR It was fine, but I've been to much more innovative sports bar/pub-type locations elsewhere. Proximity to Fifth Third Field is the real winner here. Would I be back though? Doubtful. read more

I think they might still be operating as if they're the only place to hang out near the Dayton Dragons' Fifth-Third Stadium, but (thankfully) that's now far from the case!! We went for dinner during a game night on a Saturday, probably around 7:30-8pm or so, and there were a TON of people "working" (aka sitting around, hanging out, having waaaaaaaay more fun than we were....) outside where we decided to sit, but only our waitress seemed to be getting anything done. The others were even heckling her as she TRIED to get the job done!! She did the best she could, luckily there were only a couple of tables occupied besides ours... Our drinks and food came out pretty quickly, but WHEN will I learn my lesson NOT to try to order anything "healthy" or not quite "standard" on the reasonably straight forward menu. I ordered a "make your own" burger, and had the misfortune of choosing the veggie burger, which arrived SLATHERED with "Swiss?" cheese, perhaps to hide the fact that it was both burnt to a crisp and dried out to the point of crumbling to pieces. I didn't want to bother the poor, hardworking waitress, but the "burger" was truly a sorry mess. The Mr. was happy enough with his "premium" chicken tenders and fries, which did look fine, but my overlooked/overdone meal, along with the general "hey, you're interrupting out party" feel we got out there on the patio couldn't bring me to rate them more than two stars. Without our hardworking waitress (wish I remembered her name) the rating would have been lower. Brixx used to be THE place to go before, during, and after Dragons games downtown here in Dayton. I wish I could give this place a negative rating. We tried to get service right after the Dragons game tonight. The restaurant was empty. My family sat for over 30 minutes without service, my husband went to the bar to ask for service and we were asked to wait, then we waited another 10 minutes and still no service...so we left with not even an opportunity for a drink order. Do not allow this restaurant to complain about not having business when they will not wait on customers!! I am appalled and my family will never be back!! read more

Deep fried turkey and stuffing waffles smothered in gravy... need I say more? This was one of the most memorable dishes I'd ever eaten in my short glutinous life. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. It was an honor Brixx, it was an honor. Brixx is your typical sports bar, lots of sports memorabilia on the walls and plenty of TVs. The beer is cold and the food is hot. I like the fact that Brixx is right across the street from where the Dayton Dragons play. We had a big problem with being ignored by every employee except for the server who mistakenly brought an order to our table because someone put the wrong number in. Our group came in this week for a dinner meeting and could not be more pleased with our experience. The food was all great and promptly delivered. We wanted to give a special shout-out to our server, Liberty. She was extremely kind and helpful during our long visit. A group of friends and I met at Brixx on a Friday night at about 7pm... We figured there would be a wait and we would have a few drinks first, then dinner. There were maybe two tables filled and three or so people at the bar. This place was EMPTY. There was not a Dragons game this night, but being a Friday and having no one there was concerning. We were seated immediately. Drinks were good.. your standard bar, with quite a few different beers on tap. The menu is practically all fried foods on the first page, burgers, sandwiches, etc. I wanted to play it safe so I ordered the buffalo chicken quesadilla. They forgot the main ingredient- the buffalo sauce. I got some on the side for dipping, and all was well. It wasn't a bad experience.. I just won't be running back any time soon. read more
