This was our favorite meal of our trip to Nice!…read more Warning: Reservations are hard to come by we dropped by and only reservations available were for 9pm two nights later. We took it. The place is super relaxed. 5 maybe 6 tables which made the difficulty of reservations more understandable. Prix fix menu - 4 appetizers to choose from, 4 entrees and 4 desserts. We were there with somewhat of a limited diet, but the options were awesome. We got a cauliflower appetizer and an artichoke one. Both were excellent. We all had the cod for dinner also delicious - served in a bath of traditional fish soup and with potatoes. The dessert was also excellent - we got the goat cheese in olive oil and garlic, the cream cheese with blueberry compote, lemon cheesecake and cinnamon "tiramisu". Every bite was full of flavor and such cool takes on the food. Now the intangibles - we arrived for our 9pm reservation, restaurant closes at 9:30 and we probably didn't walk out until 11:15 and there was still another table of 8 people dining. The host/waiter, Sebastian, was awesome. So friendly and we at no point felt rushed. In fact the opposite. When our daughter was slow in finishing her meal he joked with her instead of hurrying us along. Once we finished our main dish, he casually brought us our dessert and because we didn't order his favorite (we didn't know) he brought us out an extra to enjoy. We felt a little bad so somewhat accelerated the dessert phase so we could square up and leave. Instead he was unhurried, he casually cleared our table and chatted with us for a bit. It took us another 15 minutes before we finally said could we get the bill. He brought it to us another 5-7 minutes later. We had a great experience and one of our best meals in France, if not the best.

Overall, I'd say the food is a 3.5/5 but the value is 5/5. I'd recommended Chez Palmyre if you want a real Nice experience, especially on a budget. Be sure to make a reservation well in advance.

Great meal in France!…read more This was a fantastic first dinner in Nice right off the main drag. We had reservation for 7pm and arrived a few minutes early. We waited a few minutes while they prepped our table and we were seated promptly. The vibe was cool, very French cafe feeling on the streets. The waiters were kind and attentive was you settled in. They patiently answered all our menu questions. We ordered the fois gras (because when in France), the duck and the octopus. All the food was excellent, the fois gras was perfect (although probably wouldn't order it again for ethical reasons). The octopus was absolutely perfect, very very easy to screw up, but they nailed it; every bit melting in our mouths. The duck breast was perfect, juicy and cooked to perfect. All the dishes were served with plenty of accompaniment. Great meal for a great French experience. Would highly recommend.

It happened to be happy hour so I was able to take advantage of some great drink deals. For my dinner, I ordered the duck with vegetables, potatoes, and added a side of ratatouille. It was all very good and the portions were large for the price. The orange sauce was unique and it seemed to have orange peels in it as well. While this might be more of a touristy spot with this location, it was a true French menu, which was my goal. The food and service were very good and I'll come back.

What a fantastic meal! Their menu is written on a chalkboard and while it is not a large menu, everything we had was delicious. We had the pate, zucchini flowers with cod fish, and soft boiled egg with asparagus. The bread was great too. This restaurant is quite small but has a cozy ambiance and amazing food.

It seems like they only take bookings via phone so you can ask your hotel to help! Anyway, we swung by for lunch and they told us they were fully booked. We asked if we could sit outdoors (it was set up but it had rained in the morning) and they said sure! Food wise, we shared an app, 2 mains and a dessert. The appetizers was Courgette flowers (Zucchini Blossoms) with ricotta cheese inside; there was this acidic mouse in the middle - a very refreshing and delightful dish! I don't see courgette much in the US so I'm glad I tried it. For the mains, we had the local trout and the braised pork cheeks with polenta. The trout was fresh, and paired nicely with a variety of different veggies. The stew was very warm and hearty and also not too salty. For dessert, we tried the tiramisu which was tasty but nothing to write home about. The waitress that served us was very friendly as well! Overall, a fantastic experience. Highly recommend trying it on your trip to Nice :)

Think upscale Santa Monica at half the price and no tax or tip. I had veal tartare and my S.O. Had scallops. Appetizers were steamed asparagus and barbajuans (think blette beignets, sort of) Side of pommes frittes. All well done and served unpretentiously. Clientele seemed to be mostly tourists, as most conversations we overheard were not in French (nor English). Good ambience, friendly and helpful staff, not too noisy, and easy to access on foot from central Nice.

They speak any language u want and helped me with my French!! The Fritter entree was local and a house specialty and did not disappoint. Little fried pastry with a smooth subtle local vegetable mixture inside. I had the plat du jour which was a fabulously prepared lamb with local vegetables. It was outstanding. I had to have a side of the proper French frites... it was all I could do to not finish them. Finally I had the white and dark chocolate mousse I'd been eyeing since I sat down... I rarely finish a desert... but this one I did. And the house wines by the glass or pichet were also lovely. Not open everyday but u can book ahead on their website. Magnifique!!
