I had a very unpleasant experience here. I came to pay my respects but was appalled by the behavior of the staff here. To explain, they have a very strict no alcohol policy- neither indoors or anywhere on the property. Unfortunately for them there is also a liquor store right next door. Last night as we were all gathered in mourning yes, some people were drinking. They were drinking at the very corner of the parking lot. Some people standing on the public sidewalk and some at the very corner of the lot. Everyone was well behaved and it was a calm and peaceful vibe. The behavior that I witnessed from the staff was really something, though. The manager, Ken, came out and started yelling and screaming at the group. He threatened to close down the service if they had to be warned again. His assistant Alexis was even worse. She was so awful. She had the worst attitude and monitored the parking lot like she was the police. She cockily strutted around the entire night and even made a comment to "not run over the drunks"! She had very sarcastic facial expressions and demeanor. She seemed to be getting pleasure out of it. As soon as someone would step a SINGLE FOOT on the property she would scold them. Very, very unprofessional. Yes. I get it. The guests were in the wrong. It clearly stated no alcohol and the family holding the service was informed and signed an acknowledgment of this fact. But it really just seemed petty. No one was causing any harm. They were at the very edge of the parking lot, most standing on the public sidewalk. To be monitored like criminals during a time of grieving was just wrong. read more

I am so very pleased with my interaction with both Alexis and Ken. Alexis was so pleasant, understanding and very comforting during the process of my mother's passing. From the pick-up at hospital, paperwork to the day of cremation, she was very professional and amazing. The day of the cremation they were very transparent and caring about what I was about to see once I went through the door to see my mommy for the last time. They made me feel comfortable and gave me time with to say my final goodbyes one more time before her cremation. I love how they took the time to brush mommy's hair and put it neatly back into a ponytail since that's how I had it for her when she passed away. I was called the next day to pick up mommy's ashes. Words can't begin to express how patient and understanding Ken was as he handed me mommy's ashes over to me. He even placed her in the back seat of my car and put the seat belt over her to ensure she would arrive home safely. The level of professionalism and empathy from both Alexis and Ken was outstanding! It's a shame that those running this establishment don't realize that horrible moments families are going through. Normally when I've lost a loved one I have thanked the funeral home and the employees for their time and help during these terrible moments. Losing a loved one is already painful and when you seek a funeral home to assist you think of love, compassion, empathy. However, at Florida Funeral Home the owner and staff here have 0 of those characteristics. The assistant Alexis is beyond RUDE and CONDESCENDING! She speaks to people like their trash. My family and I came together from different states and countries to pay our respects to our loved one. As we wait outside of the funeral home staff to open the doors we see Alexis walking from the office with a NASTY ATTITUDE and tell my family to give her the food and things that needed to be set up in the kitchen area. We advised that we wanted to go in and clean the area before we brought the food in. Alexis didn't like that one bit and began telling us in again a very RUDE manner that everything was cleaned and ready. She then turns to the door where Ken the owner of the funeral was, he asks is everything ok and Alexis replied very RUDELY nothing is ok with this family. Ken comes outside and introduces himself to the family and advised of the Do's and Don'ts prior to letting the family in the funeral home. Ken spoke in a very degrading manner to all of the adults present. Moreover, once in the kitchen area we noticed that the countertops were NOT cleaned like Alexis RUDELY advised. We found the bottle of Lysol Cleaning Spray on the counter and some Ajax. At that time we began to clean the countertops ourselves. Ken comes in from the back door and tells us in a very RUDE/SARCASTIC manner that we NEED to ask someone for help BEFORE opening his kitchen cabinets. Ken then goes and brings in an older gentleman and tells us whatever you need ask him and DON'T touch my cabinets anymore. Ken advised that the viewing was going to take place from 5pm to 9pm and that EVERYONE/EVERYTHING had to be back to the original ways on or before 9pm. We proceed with the viewing/service. We began cleaning up the kitchen area when all of a sudden we see Alexis come in and take out the trash bag from the bin to put a new trash bag in. She then proceeds to stand in the doorway as we are trying to take out the food and stuff we brought. Apparently in her eyes we were NOT moving fast enough for her and she then says in a sarcastic manner, "Uggh they're moving slow and taking their f*****g time" (please keep in mind that it was about 8:15 pm when we started cleaning up the kitchen area to be out by 9pm) It was then when I lost it. I said WTF is wrong with her since the moment we arrived she's been nothing but RUDE/CONDESCENDING to us what's her problem it's no where near 9pm and she's already huffing and puffing. Alexis then says, "Ma'am if you don't have nothing to say don't say anything" to which I responded that's exactly what YOU should do prior to speaking to people. You have a NASTY ATTITUDE and your BODY LANGUAGE says ALOT about you! If you can't work with people then you're in the WRONG business Alexis customer service is NOT one of your best qualities. I will NEVER set foot in this funeral home and suggest you don't choose Florida Funeral Home to say your last goodbye to your loved one. read more

Me and my siblings chose this place because of the price, and if I could wind back time I would. Alexis is the worst person I have ever had to deal with in my life. As a nurse, I deal with people in pain and grieving on a daily basis, and never in my 7 years have I spoken to any of my patients the way Alexis has spoken to me and my family. She has lied to us, called us names, threaten to call the police and sue us, and more things that I do not have the energy to type out. Do yourself a favor and go anywhere else, for the sake of your loved one and yourself. They have also taken a whole month to give us the ashes. read more

All staff handled us with RESPECT and CARE. It was the hardest time of our life dealing with the loss of our loved one, but from the beginning of the first phone call to coming in to receive guidance and advice and make arrangements including the end process I would never consider using any other funeral home. Be aware it doesn't look "fancy" inside. But I rather great customer service, respect, and professionalism than fancy any day. Their price was not overpriced. It was very reasonable and affordable especially compared to any other place in DADE or BROWARD county. I love the staff and the service. Makes me wonder what other mistakes have been made and are being made! The so called manager has not called me back in a year! I attended my sister-in law's funeral this Saturday, what can I say. It was so hard but the funeral service could have been better. They are limited in the parking spaces and there was a young lady with a red manure blouse who treated the family and guest like it was just another day in the factory. It was terrible, I was so sad to see how a young women who works in the field of funerals could be so heartless and insensitive toward the families of a passed loved one. I came from NY for my aunt's viewing. The viewing was to start at 4pm. We pulled into the parking lot at 407p and we see them taking the coffin across the parking lot to the viewing room (thank goodness my cousin did not see) then when we try to walk into the doors they are locked. This lady told us that they are not ready and someone is coming out to talk to us. When we were finally spoke to we asked why wasn't everything prepared and her response was "has you arrived by 345p all would have been ready but since you came after 4p nothing was done. WHAT?!?!?!? What kind of excuse is that. Also we were promised a slide show of her pictures. Me and my cousins were up all night putting together pictures of her and when we get here we are told there is no slide show at all. This place is horrible if it was up to me I give it no stars but in order to post a review I have to give a star. If you want someone to be rude to you and refuse to speak with you after losing your loved one's personal property this is the place to go! I live in another state and this funeral home was contacted with by the funeral home in my state to pick up my brother for cremation and ship him home to us along with his personal property. We luckily received his ashes (I now wonder if it is really him) but when our funeral home asked were his property was they said it had been destroyed. I called to speak with them and was told by the receptionist that I needed to speak to the funeral home in my state. She refused to let me speak with anyone there even after I asked to speak to the person in charge. They told the funeral home here his property was not in a separate bag. I confirmed with the Medical Examiner's office that this was a lie. His property was signed for by an employee of this funeral home on an itemized sheet. I have never dealt with a funeral home that has no regard for the deceased or their grieving family before. If you care about your loved one don't deal with this funeral home. read more
