This was my first experience at preparing funeral services for a loved one. Felipe walked me through the entire process and ensured he would take care of everything, and he did. His professionalism and caring heart solidified my trust in him.He was always just a phone call away and would always answer my questions in a timely manner. If there was an option for 10 stars for this business, I would give it 10 stars. We are living in very unprecedented times and many business owners are taking advantage people's vulnerability. This is NOT the case for this business. If you have to prepare funeral services for a loved one , do not look elsewhere, you will not regret it. The sense of trust that you feel with him and his staff is exceptional. Thank you Felipe once again for everything.

I have mixed feelings about this business. I'll walk you through my experience. My brother…read moreunfortunately passed out of state and I immediately started the process of making his arrangements. I initially started working with a different funeral home and unfortunately due to how sudden and unexpected the passing of my brother was we were simply unprepared financially for this situation. There were a lot of blurred lines surrounding his death and well when you're in a vulnerable position and you put your trust into a business that's supposed to alleviate your stress when you're already grieving you expect a different level of care and professionalism. I found Graceland through Catholic Charities, and although Felipe was at first very kind and seemed like he genuinely cared there were a lot of things that just didn't sit right with me. For example my brothers body had to be shipped from out of state, that in itself took about two weeks. My brother passed away in May and we did not receive the body until June 27th and the viewing took place on the 28th. We were denied access to viewing the body despite repeated requests, although a funeral director can make the suggestion I believe it's up to the family to make the final determination. We never had the opportunity to identify the body and when I requested pictures, identifying information such as tattoos, or finger prints etc I was denied every single suggestion that I had in order to receive the closure that was needed. There was a constant back and forth with National Mortuary which is the company that ships, the funeral home in the state in which he passed said they preformed the embalming and the then I was told by the shipping company that THEY had preformed the embalming. The office staff seemed to laugh at me every chance they had, in particular Samuel. My brother was cremated on the 29th and unfortunately I couldn't attend the cremation which I truly believe was their end game. Although they were very gracious in understanding our financial situation and did give us a discount I don't believe that entitled them to behave in certain ways. I for one felt extremely disappointed and embarrassed by the whole thing. I repeatedly went to pick up my brothers ashes and they apparently have a policy where you can only pick up from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM despite Felipe being there. When I initially went to pick up his remains the staff told my husband that we still owed money which of course wasn't true we paid cash the moment we signed the contract and so apparently that was an accounting oversight. I have never felt so humiliated, embarrassed, and ashamed. This was terrible what was done to us and I hope it doesn't happen to any other family out there during the most difficult time in their lives. While we appreciate the discount we would've appreciated empathy a lot more. Felipe is extremely professional in his communications and the way he accommodates families but I just felt extremely frustrated and lost throughout the process.

I am extremely disappointed and saddened with the treatment I received yesterday at this location…read more My aunt paid for a lot over 50 years ago in full. When my father passed away in 2011 everything was great. They ended up convincing me to turn the lot into 2 so of course I signed the contract in 2011 for about $3500 dollars paid on it religiously for 5 years about $2300 dollars. Unfortunately I lost my job and was unable to continue paying for it. Fast forward to this year my mother health is declining so I went there seeking help and was told that pretty much my original contract was cancelled the lot is no longer valued at 3500 but $9995 they would do me the favor of reducing this to a 50 percent off but the original money I paid on this of the $2300 is pretty much up in the air no guarantee this money could be applied to my balance. Mind you this is a lot originally paid in full and my father is already buried in it. I understand this is a business because honestly it's all it is No compassion what so ever now a days. All about money. I understand I am at fault for unfortunately breaking the contract however at no point did my action cause the company to loose any money the lot was already paid for my father is buried there and it was not like you would just bury another random body on top of my father. You are a place that is dealing with many families going through very hard times and some grieving. I definitely think you need to have people with more compassion. Everything is about money with them! So now I'm pretty much stuck with a new contract lost who gave a million or billion dollar company $2300 dollars for free when I basically live check to check. Extremely disappointed and if I had another choice I definitely would have went some where else. But I want to bury my mother together with my father so basically it is what it is. If I could give a zero I definitely would.

In 1926, McDonald Lovell was commissioned to design a mausoleum for the cemetery. The cemetery holds 60,000 people. This cemetery contains many notable people. Buried here is Desiderio Armas II, the youngest mayor of Santiago Cubo and father of Desi Arnaz from I Love Lucy. This is the final resting place of an Olympic swimmer, hall of fame baseball player, and an actress. Here you will find the pioneers like George Merrick, founder of Coral Gables and William Brickell, one of the founders of Miami. Other pioneer names you will see here include Munroe and Colllins. Former Nicaraguan And Cuban Presidents are interred here along with Manuel Artime, one of the leaders of the Bay of Pigs Invasion and Cuban exile leader Jorge Mas Canosa. Woodlawn Park contains the oldest Jewish cemetery in Miami as well as the oldest Greek, Chinese, Cuban, Roman Catholic, and Masonic burial plots in South Florida. One of my favorite parts of the cemetery is the monuments built to honor the soldiers buried here. Some were American soldiers who lost their lives in the Labor Day Hurricane of 1935. There are also 13 graves of Common Wealth War soldiers from WWII that include one Brit, two New Zealand airmen, and 10 personnel from the Royal Navy. I love the history contained in this cemetery. It's park like setting makes it a peaceful final respite. The lovely landscaping attracts feathered friends and in addition to being a cemetery it is also a bird sanctuary. HistoryMiami sometimes schedules historical walkIng tours through here which I would love to take someday. As long as you visit respectfully, this is a great place to explore the history of Miami.

My father unexpectedly passed and we trusted Dayana to assist with funeral arrangements. She was kind at first, but out of nowhere flipped a switch as soon as you catch her in her lies and even has the nerve to blame you (the customer) on top of the already difficult time one goes through when a loved one passes. She took our money and ran. The refund she eventually returned wasn't even the full amount and we are currently still going through a case with her. If you choose to work with this company, be very careful. Do not ignore these warning signs.
