I've also heard horror stories from multiple other patients about being billed twice for their copayment because the office doesn't seem to keep their records or receipts very organized. It's happened to me a couple times where I will pay copayment and then still have a balance on my account with them. I would advise anyone interested in this office to find a different doctor, because not everyone has the time or patience to sit and wait nearly 2 1/2 hours to get a refill for their medication. I had a great experience with a medical student who was able to tell me more about the medications I was consuming than from my very own psychiatrist. Ridiculous, but true. I'm sure not all of the psychiatrists are impersonal, but most are. This makes the feel of the office the total opposite of a cozy environment, instead making it feel like just a regular scary doctors office.

Staff told us to keep trying -- over and over -- instead of finding a workaround. No restroom in the office, and the one in the hallway is locked with no signage explaining you need a key. After waiting over an hour, we finally saw the PA, who couldn't get my son's name right. His name is Jake. He called him Anthony four times -- even after being corrected three times. Basic stuff. The PA then scheduled a follow-up for June 18th at 11am at the Pembroke Pines office. My wife showed up and the door was locked. We each spent close to an hour on hold trying to reach someone. When someone finally answered, we were told for the first time that Pembroke Pines is only open on Tuesdays. Nobody mentioned that when the appointment was made. Tuesdays don't work for our family. We were told to just go to Oakland Park instead. That was the end of it -- we told them we were done and would find another provider. Now we're getting non-stop appointment reminders and texts threatening cancellation fees for appointments we never booked. We did not make these appointments. We will not be paying these fees. At this point it's harassment. Avoid this place. Every single interaction was a failure from start to finish.

It is attached to a state owned psychiatric facility that is not voluntary. Always a lot of commotion from there. 25 patients share a common bath and showers. One five minute phone call a week. If you don't like it you have to give 72 hour notice you are leaving or you can't take any belongings including your ID, credit cards, phone, meds, nothing. Just the clothes on your back. Even if you give the 72 you are not allowed to make any calls or arrangements. You are simply put outside to fend for yourself. This facility is a complete money racket and should be closed by the state!!! Try American addiction centers

Due to COVID, Dr. Dotson is only offering Telehealth appointments, but you still go into the office for all lab work purposes. The young lady in the front was very polite and energetic. Her customer service was exceptional! I was very comfortable being that it was my first time there. I did not have to wait long at all once I completed all my paperwork. I was in and out in no time. I am really happy I found this office as I've been in search of a PCP for a few years now. I have to also mention that the environment is very soothing. If one is looking change their life for the better long term and if you're struggling on staying clean-do yourself the favor and get on medication assisted treatment. I've tried for over 17 years to stop using. Always refusing medication help, because of the ridiculous stigma surrounding it especially in the 12 step rooms. However, I'll never forget what the first counselor I met there told me at intake "do you know that statistically just doing the 12 step programs has a very low success rate for long term sobriety?" He then explained how my brain chemistry has changed due to prolonged use and that giving MAT a try my odds at long term success are higher. Well since the end of 2021, I can attest that it works-if you really want it. The staff in this clinic are professional, super smart, and always go above and beyond to help the patients. The MD is also very knowledgeable and easy to see whenever you need an appointment. This is a good place, not crowded, very discreet so I don't have to worry about running into someone from my job.
