At one, we met Tom. He was super knowledgeable about the house and entire area, but the house wasn't right for us. He recommended other neighborhoods we might be interested in and promised not to hound us if we gave him our info. And he truly didn't, which we really appreciated. We got back in touch with him and told him about some homes we were interested in seeing. He quickly set up appointments at all of them, and spent pretty much the whole day with us on Thanksgiving weekend, though I know he had company visiting. We told him we'd go to one of the houses that afternoon, as they had an open house that day. I thought it was a waste of time when I saw he had us going privately to that house. We saw about half a dozen houses that day, of all types in all sorts of neighborhoods. Tom did a wonderful job ferreting out what was important to us-he's a great listener! At the end of the day, he took us back to that Open House we'd mentioned-it was just ending, and he encouraged us to take another look. Both my husband and I knew definitively during our 2nd look that it was the perfect house for us. It turned out to be absolutely fortuitous that we had seen it earlier. After brief consultation, Tom submitted our offer that day, and helped us negotiate over the next day. We ended up with just what we wanted, and feel his knowledge was key in achieving that. It certainly didn't stop then. Tom spoke to us about different lenders and vendors for certain services. We still shopped around, but always ended up with the companies Tom had recommended and it served us well. He was quite helpful all the way up to and including the closing (offered a few inspection companies and set up the inspection with the one we chose, came to our walk thru and noticed little things for the seller to fix that we would never have seen), and has even followed up with us in the ensuing weeks, ensuring we were satisfied with how everything was going.
