I'm just disgusting of how the guy treat me this place I was searching for eye doctor. I found this place is in net worth for my insurance and I went inside. The sign is open so if the sign isn't open, that means I'm welcome to go in it doesn't say appointments only it doesn't say customers only it says open so I went in and ask a question before I go through to make an appointment. I asked the guy I just want to check what kind of brand of glasses you have cause I'm looking for Oakley's so he was like I'm sorry we'll be close and I was like but the sign says open. He was like yes, but we close this is for customers only I was like you should have a sign outside. I went to Florida Optical to be fitted for Rigid Gas Permeable contact lens. I previously have had Lasik and cataract surgery on both eyes, thus knew I would be very difficult to fit. I had previously been told by another eye doctor that I would be too difficult to fit and he would not even attempt to do it....said to wear soft lens. Dan Acosta, Florida Optical, worked with me for 3-1/2 months to get it perfect. He was extremely patient, explained everything he did along the way, and was always encouraging. I love my new RGP lens, and am so appreciative for the time and effort Dan put forth to make this happen. I would not hesitate to recommend him highly. As an after note: on 2 separate occasions while I was there, there were 2 different people that walked in with a minor problem, and he fixed their frames while they waited, and told them no charge. Very friendly and thorough exam. My eyesight correction is complicated due to bilateral cataract surgery and surgery for a retinal detachment. Not only was ab etter prescription found but it was discovered I had new onset steroid induced glaucoma. read more

I've got to go with a 5 even though he didn't really do anything. But...he suggested I get my cataracts fixed before anything else and the gave me a complimentary cataract exam and suggested his best recommendation. I will certainly return to him when cataracts are removed, thanks doc! read more

Nice to find an independent "Mom and Pop" optical center. In a world filled with huge companies that you get lost in the shuffle. It is nice to find a self-owned business. Dan is very knowledgeable and explained clearly every question I had about my prescription. Due to his small business structure, he focuses on providing service with really neat equipment and frames. I had an eye exam a year ago here as well as the glasses I purchased. It was a nice experience, he was very helpful, especially with the almost hour I spent trying to pick out the right frame. Anyway, I went back this week to have my lenses fixed and he took care of me right away and went above and beyond for ordering my replacement lenses so I could still wear my glasses as I wait for the new ones. Good customer service. I've been wearing glasses and contacts for 20 years and have been to probably at least 15 different eye doctors, and he is one of my favorites in SWFL. read more

I called off hours in at 8am and my phone call was returned immediately, but I was informed that they were not open; however, the gentlemen informed me that they would be pleased to help with my broken frame at 10am. Fantastic experience, great chair-side manor. Both Dr's took the time and patience with me answering all my questions utilizing both old school and new age technology. Very thorough contact lens exam with follow ups. The office offers a very inviting feeling no hurry up to get you in and out like the last office I visited when my eye would not stop watering, you are not left feeling like just a file. After an accident in which my rimless bifocal glasses were badly damaged & being a visitor here, I found Florida Optical's website "glasses repair" helpful & called them. Spoke to Dan Acosta who was just closing but agreed to wait for me. Dan met me on arrival & examined my glasses & warned me that any attempt at repair could result in breakage. This was obvious to me anyway. Dan started work immediately & made several adjustments. He repaired them expertly & they fit well. I found Dan to be a good listener & pleasant to deal with. Florida Optical Services came to the rescue on a Saturday morning. My mom is in town for an eye surgery. On Saturday morning the screw came out of her glasses and the lens fell out. Thats great that Dr. Swift can only post his resume as a response. Here is another challenge I offer to him. Collecting a fee for services AFTER the product has been provided. When I took ethics back during my clinical lab training, that is an important thing. Florida Optical Service however wants your money UPFRONT then gives you a product. I bought my glasses there last week and they are awesome. They took their time explaining everything specially since my prescription is so high. My rimless frames are almost invisible. I am very satisfied with their service. I am glad I went to see the Ophthalmologist as they discovered a medical condition that was missed by other doctors. Dilation made my vision blurry for about 20 minutes but I was light sensitive for several hours. I have always been dilated over the years and it always lasts a long time. The staff did inform me of the effects of the dilation. My prescription eyeglasses were right on the money and I can see perfectly. Dr. Swift and Dan...you did a great job! The eyeglass selection was also very good. I know that my prescription is high and I appreciate the time that your staff took. I paid $100 for the dilated examination because they had to use a special instrument. My wife paid $75 for a regular exam. As for his assistants, they are kind and caring. I would not hesitate to send friends or relative to see them, Canadian Friendly! read more

I purchased my glasses on 2/22/16 and picked them up two weeks later. While in the office I mentioned to Dan that I felt they were stronger than I thought they would be but left with then anyway feeling confident he knew best for my eyes. I tried to wear them home but had to take them off because I was not able to drive with them on. I got home and tried to do my homework and was unable to even make out the words and the computer was distorted. I called Dan and he said to try them for a week and to let him know. The next day he calls me back to say that I was sent the wrong lenses and that he would order new ones. Two weeks later I pick up the new lenses but they are almost as bad as the first. Dan recommends I see Dr. Swift, so the next day I see him. He put drops in my eye and examines my eyes then fits me with glasses, he hands me a paper to read at this point I can't even see him or Dan my vision was totally blurry. So then Dr. Swift changes the prescription and then prescribes me that prescription. That was red flag number three because like I said I couldn't even see them at this point much less the words on the paper. Dr. Swift leaves and I'm left with Dan who wants to order me new glasses and fill out paperwork. I did not want those glasses because I found it strange that he fit me with glasses when I couldn't even see them much less that paper. I was refunded my money for the glasses minus $100.00 for the visit fee which I clearly remember Dan saying to me previously would be $75.00 to see Dr. Swift, I guess the price changes when a refund is taking place. So from 2/22/16 to 3/19/16 and 4 trips to the office, I walk away without glasses, a feeling of disappointment, and a feeling of not trusting anything Dan or Dr. Swift said. At this point I would rather invest more money into getting a second opinion for my own piece of mind than to buy glasses here. Was I treated right? I'm not sure because I have never worn glasses and have no frame of reference, so I will leave it to you to decide. I did however sit in the parking lot trying to see for the next 40 minutes, finally able to see good enough to make it to Costco were I wondered for the next hour trying to get my vision back. Is this normal? I'm not sure but after 5 hours my eyes finally started to look normal and I could see better. Does it normally take that long? They said 15 to 20 minutes but I beg to differ. So if you would like to visit Dan and Dr. Swift for your glasses, go ahead I hope yours is not such a lengthy process and hope you are happy with the service. Me on the other hand will be getting a second opinion and comparing the prescription I was given with the new one to see how accurate the diagnose Dan and Dr. Swift gave me is. If in the end they were right then that fine but at least I will have piece of mind. Happy shopping for glasses to all! read more
