Today it has been repurposed as a cultural hub of eleven historic buildings offering community programs and a farmers market. This farmers market is tied to Vizcaya's agricultural past. Vizcaya once had its own farm. This very area housed crops and farm animals. Today it is home to a weekly farmers market sponsored by the Urban Oasis Project and held every Sunday from 9:30 AM to 3 PM. This may be the most charming farmer's market I have ever visited. The historic buildings are the perfect backdrop to vendors selling fresh produce, coffee, raw honey, plant protein, hats, healthy desserts and snacks, bike powered fresh juice, plants, spices, candles, jewelry, canned fruits and vegetables, healthy dog food, fruit boba tea, pastries, and prepared food. If you purchased a meal there were picnic tables set up in the courtyard. Lovelo was on hand to book self guided e-bike tours. I enjoyed walking through this lovely market and ended up purchasing several ingredients to inspire my home cooking. In addition to the Sunday market they also offer workshops at the same time for a nominal fee. On the day I visited you could do yoga and paint. They also offer a night market. Check their website for dates. This is a dog and family friendly. Parking was a little tight in the lot for this popular event so come early or pack your patience. If you have never toured majestic Vizcaya across the street I highly recommend you pair a visit with this market.

It's easy to just melt into the atmosphere, with those gorgeous bay views and a nice sea breeze to keep you relaxed as you amble around. The market does a fantastic job of mixing up the types of vendors on hand , so you've got everything from gorgeous fresh produce and baked treats to local honey, flowers & all sorts of tasty prepared foods that are just perfect for grabbing a quick breakfast or snack. There's just a really welcoming, down-to-earth feel to the whole place. The vendors are all super friendly, super keen to answer any questions you might have & clearly love what they're selling. Markets for Makers was originally founded in 2015 and have expanded to a few different locations. After speaking with some of the vendors, this Miami Market for Makers usually takes place at The Moore Building on a multi level indoor space. The outdoor market in the Miami Design District at Jungle Plaza seems to be a relatively new concept. They thrive on helping small businesses get to the forefront of the community. I love this. The outdoor space is stunning and the hosts of the event are incredibly organized and efficient. Love the space, decor, vendors and just about everything about this event. Keep an eye out on their website for upcoming dates as this is not a regular weekly farmers market type of event. The event taking place this weekend is Sat 3/20 and Sun 3/21. Happy to be able to attend this and check out all the cool vendors involved. They maintain safety precautions by asking all attendees and makers to wear masks at all times except when you're eating or drinking. There is a space with picnic tables for this. Tickets to attend the event start at $7 and kids under 12 are free. Buy your tickets for $7 online and get priority entrance otherwise it's $10 at the door without priority entrance. VIP tickets are also available for $15 but this is only available online and looks like the early bird pricing for this ended on 3/10. VIP ticket included priority entrance all weekend at any time, access to VIP preview hour on Sat at 11am-12pm before the general admission people arrive at 12pm. There are over 90+ makers displaying their coolest stuff at Market for Makers. Tons of cool photo Instagrammable photo walls around the event. You can text "MIAMIM4M" to 33222 to get the full map and list of all makers involved. Come out for a beautiful day outdoors and check out these cool makers. After you're done, stick around and walk around the Miami Arts District. You won't regret it. I can't tell you how much I love this outdoor market concept, especially during this time of Covid.

I am a bit disappointed in the "farmer" aspect of this market. There seems to be only 1 main produce vendor and their prices are way too similar to Publix and some items are even more expensive! The produce selection doesn't have any real gems except for the lychees. Those are sold by multiple vendors and at a very good price! Sadly, the produce aspect of the market is underwhelming and defeats the real purpose of a farmer's market. HOWEVER, the product stalls are full of really nice gems. The best one is the fresh ceviche truck. $5 gets you a very generous portion of fish ceviche. It is super fresh and well seasoned. The kettle corn found at another stand is that perfect sweet and salty marriage that only the best of snacks can achieve. The fact that it is made in small batches with a lot of attention to detail is very evident! The arepas are really great! Not your standard fair food - these are authentic arepas that can be stuffed with a variety of options like pork or veggies and not just cheese. There is also a brick oven pizza stand. The pizza is very thin crust and good if eaten right away. Took leftovers home and they did not fare well at all :( Really liked the pooch perks booth. They have homemade treats and toys for your pets and the owners were very nice to my little boy. Market also has the follwoing stands: smoothies, Indian curries, asian fruits, gelato and some clothing and handmade creams. I'll go back for the finished food products, not the produce. Most vendors take credit cards, but have cash on you as well.
