Flower-Hill Promenade is a great place to hang out... lots of different things to do around here. We went to the Richard Walker pancake house which is always great experience. Then, we just kinda walked around to see what else was in this plaza. They have a yoga place here, baby/kid clothing store, Italian Cheese etc shop, and they have whole Foods on the other side. Then, we saw these Australian Parakeets in a gigantic cage and it was super cute and relaxing to watch these beautiful creatures. Starbucks here is very clean! Will def be back! read more

There is something for everyone here from shops, market, restaurants and cafe. Parking, it's rather hectic getting into the mall. Clean mall with lots of outdoor spaces to sit and people watch. I came to photograph commercial ads for a client and ended up eating at Whole food Market, getting food to go and finding a nice table with an umbrella and sat down enjoying observing people. Than I had a matcha latte at Starbucks. Lots of places to sit outdoor and it's fun watching people. read more

Lots of great things to say about this spot. First, it's a very clean and well-run group of stores. There's also Whole Foods there and it can be a practical place to grab a healthy lunch and eat in the Promenade. There's also complimentary WIFI. The Starbucks at the Promenade is one of the best. It has a lovely patio that is fairly peaceful. Also the public bathrooms are well taken care of. Parking is never a problem with the large Parking structure. Great people watching. read more

The manager Sandy, can improve her attitude and her poor performance in customer. I personally had to remind Sandy this morning that I was the customer not her. She then became over dramatic and through her hands in the air telling me she not going to serve me for her poor ability as the store manager to handle a small request for a refill of my black Sumatra coffee.. As the lead man of a store Sandy she have the intelligence to understand her position as a customer service representative. Today she showed she lacks the skills to handle such a simple request yet show was sure to become dramatically upset and even had the audacity to try to kick me out of the store for what was actually her poor customer service. I then had to ask the original lady of who served me in the morning to please give me a refill as Sandy walked away refusing me services and throwing her hands in the air. I then had to ask the gentleman who served me my oatmeal this morning to please let her know who I am and that yes I was there in the morning. And instead of admitting her mistake she persisted on her poor customer service. I will be filling a formal complaint with upper management. Sandy willl need to learn better communication skills and way better customer service and she also needs to remember she is there to serve the customer to the best of her ability. I was very upset and disappointed in this morning interaction and the way Sandy treated me as a loyal Starbucks customer and how she made me feel. read more

I love coming here, such an inviting place! Super kid friendly, ever changing designs, beautiful flowers, murals, live music, weekend events where you can buy local unique gifts. Tons of activities for kiddos to do, great playground with toys, 2 coffee shops, restaurants and Whole foods. You literally can spend your whole day here! There so many little nooks and corners where you can sit and lounge. I appreciate that Flower Hill does family events and they are always free and open to public, like take a picture with Santa, face-panting and petting zoo. read more

Mid-size bougie shopping plaza (compared to other shopping plazas in the area) lol. Lots of places to sit/chill and lots of open area that kids can run around. Clean and pretty with all of the palm trees enjoying Del Mar sunshine, but still check the website first to see if any of the stores here interest you because otherwise it wouldn't be worth the trip, especially as it can be difficult to find parking during peak hours (seems like the majority of the people here come for Whole Foods shopping). read more

This center is a absolute clusterfuck, there is no other word to describe it. From the traffic lights that get backed up to the tight spaces and chaotic parking lot that is tiny. They added a parking garage but it's too far in the back to make a difference. The selection of restaurants here is not anything special and it is not worth the effort to visit. read more

I was a huge fan of John, Paul, and Ringo. I still have the audiophile boxed vinyl collection of the English versions of their albums. I didn't know John was a graphic artist and a show of his work had been on tour for 26 years. The last show was at Del Mar's Flower Hill Promenade November 18-20. Walking through the small gallery I was amazed by the variety of his work. He had some colorful drawings that could have been in a children's books and some x-rated pieces that had protesters up in arms when they were first shown. Many of his works had simple elegant brushwork like Chinese brush paintings hanging in my living room. I closed my eyes and imagined John's beautiful works hanging in my home. In the background John's music played. On the way out I met one of the show's organizers Rich Horowitz. We had met before. In the 1990's Off The Record was my source of bootleg cd's. There were a lot of bands that didn't perform in San Diego and the cd's were my way of listening to live shows. I didn't ask Rich where the cd's came from and Rich didn't say. I would go to the El Cajon Blvd store at least once a month and take a look at the bootleg cd area to see what was new. It was good to see Rich again. It was good seeing John Lennon's artwork. read more

We've been shopping and eating here since we first moved to Del Mar 20+ years ago. Parking in front is a challenge, as it has always been. Fortunately, there is now a parking garage in back. Shops and restaurants have changed over the years, but we still keep coming back. This is a welcoming center. read more

I think I first visited Flower Hill Promenade about 10 years ago and it's come a loooooooong way since then. It's now littered with lounge areas, kids play places, and beautiful succulents as far as the eye can see. There'a Whole Foods, an upscale wine shop, and one of the world's most bougie fast-casual food chains (Flower Child). Part of me loves the improvements. Namely, the part that loves an organic salad bar and getting my car detailed while I shop. The other part of me doesn't exactly love the upgrades because of the obnoxious customers the amenities attract. You know the ones I'm talking about..they wear about $400 worth of Lululemon and wouldn't apologize if than ran over your toe with their shopping cart. Overall, it's a great place to shop, dine, or just kill an hour or two. Just watch out annoying people and be prepared to fight for a parking spot. read more

I've been going to this small mall for more than 20 years and they certainly have seen some changes. Had lunch here today and really was taken back a bit by all the improvements and decided to walk around after my meal. What a difference. I remember back when there was a movie theater that was fairly dilapidated. They showed great movies but it was just so run down. The theater has been replaced by Whole Foods and Sharp outpatient clinic. Other than a few shops of interest, most of this mall was pretty run down and just not worth coming to. But now they have upgraded quite a bit with Yogurtland, Chipotle, Burger Lounge and some other new additions. Some of the older shops remain and there is some good shopping here that goes unnoticed by many, but they certainly have their following when you notice the parking is quite full. They even have a car detail service behind Whole Foods so you can drop your car off while enjoying a meal at one of the many restaurants. Warning to those visiting this shopping center; people drive incredibly fast in this very tight mall. If you're backing out of a parking space, take extra precaution and do it slowly because the people around here are quite rude and will drive around you while you try and back out. If you are crossing from the parking area to the sidewalk or store.... run! Again, no courtesy here. The drivers stop for nothing and they drive ridiculously fast for such a small place. I was crossing to go to a restaurant and the cars were racing past like they were on the freeway. Not ONE car gave the slightest indication they would slow let alone stop for people crossing so be forewarned. I admit I have been here since they went through the upgrade and now I'm sure I'll be back again to try some of the other restaurants and check out the shops. read more

Anna Paris that works with Allied Universal came up as I was sitting outside with my child at one of the exhibits that had play butterfly's and said they can't be touching them. Then proceeded to ask my child is that how they were when you came. Extremely rude and started talking to my kids and not me the parent. Anna continued to come back and take pictures of my kids hence me taking her picture. Allied/rent a courtesy patrol needs to be aware! Flower Hill please be aware that staff takes m pictures of kids. read more

I can literally spend all day here! I've been coming to this center since it had a movie theatre in it. It has come a long way!! I love all the little charming lounge areas throughout the center. I come to first shop at Wholefoods but I also come here for the restaurants. My favorite is Cucina Enoteca. The best part about this center is that I can run my errands and entertained my son at the same tim. The Geppetto's here has a playground next to it. Once he tired himself there we meander to the lounge areas with our snacks from Wholefoods and sometimes on the way out he gets a little frozen yogurt. I haven't tried it yet but there's an organic air brush tanning salon that I'll definitely go to soon! So many little, cute and boutiquey type stores throughout the center. It's definitely worth a visit! read more

We love coming to this shopping center with multiple reasons. First, the place is well decorated and maintained, they always have flower boutiques and themes decors around the plaza. Second, it has different service areas, from dining, yoga class, grocery shop to retail stores, all incorporated in one centralized shopping center. Also, the shopping center has plenty of parking available, it has never been an issue to find either a convenient parking or a shaded parking in the parking structure. read more

Remodeled and lovely and dust free finally! I'm sure the business owners in Flower Hill must be all sighing relief as the construction is mostly over and the Whole Foods opening is really bringing people in their doors again. The layout of this shopping center is cozy and makes you feel really connected with the business owners. They're close knit and the storefronts are beautifully re done. I've been in and out of several new and old businesses and I'm really impressed and how everyone has kicked it up a notch to compliment the new structural look. There's outdoor seating and new landscaping, including tile murals and fountains. It's really a place that I truly might spend and afternoon and I can't recall the last time I ever said that about a retail shopping "mall" -I suppose it's started to embody the "promenade" implications a lot more. Get that coffee at Pannikin, downward dog at Core Power, get a cigar, grab some cheese, home goods maybe? Something shiny? Lunch? The Spa? You're only trouble might be parking but don't forget the parking structure in back: It's quite accessible. I've always loved coming to Flower Hill. I've been coming here since I was a kid-- I loved when my mom took me to the fairy store (no longer there). I've seen it go through lots of changes and different shops and cafes. Now I have my own baby and love taking him here. It's such a fun mall to visit with something for everyone. It's got cute boutiques, delicious restaurants, tons of cute photo ops, and fun things for kids. There's an adorable playground. Theres also a lego castle and a lifeguard tower for kids to climb in. There's lots of fun sensory things for kiddos on the playground. A few months ago there was a boat on the playground, now there's a train made out of wine barrels for kids to climb into. It's conveniently located in front of Gepetto's toy store (locally owned with great toys!). I almost always get something at Gepetto's since they have such cute stuff. There's a Starbucks and Whole Foods. Starbucks is right above the playground so it's great for parents (thanks for that! Haha). There's a beautiful enclosure with parakeets above the playground that my son is obsessed with. I love the stores Clothe and Arrow and Sweetpea Children's boutique. I love the restaurants Taste of Thai and Cucina Enoteca. There are lots of other great restaurant options including Burger Lounge, Venissimo Cheese and Wine, Richard Walker's Pancakes, Flower Child, Milton's, etc. There's tons of fun murals around the mall and interactive displays. Currently (Dec 2020) there is a tree where you can tie ribbons representing joy, peace, and hope. There's also a wall where you can write things that bring you joy. Currently there are lots of beautiful holiday touches including a huge, gorgeous Christmas tree. Plus there's plenty more here to enjoy! Something for every taste :) read more

Some businesses are hidden in the back so be sure to go behind and see great places like Richard Walker's pancake house, Mia Bella, and many others. This shopping center is so creative by adding lots of open space for people to congregate, and even areas to play outdoor games. Also love all the flower installations throughout the mall. I like that these are all small businesses (I think). No big names here for women's clothes. However- The women's boutique shops here aren't great. I found some of them have an identity crisis- do you wanna be gypsy or kitschy pop- pick one not both. Mostly cheap items marked up. It's a combo of old lady and young; nothing really wowed me. I live 15 min and prob won't come back here just for clothing shopping. I liked Swell coffee and had a good salad at Flower Child. Sadly I'm still looking for good boutiques in San Diego- if anyone has recommendations please PM me! They seem to cater to kids a lot (playground, toy store etc)- so that's a con for me. At first glance, Flower Hill Promenade looks like a "typical" strip mall. First impressions couldn't be more deceiving! There are gourmet food and wine offerings, ample restaurants, beauty stores, pet shops, home decor stores, yoga studios, and clothing stores of all kinds-- men, women, children, maternity,etc. It's really wonderful! The outdoor feel is casual and classy at the same time. I feel lucky to live so close but, even if I didn't, I would find myself shopping here very often! read more

This review is for the decoration and art. I went today on a day I'm feeling particularly blue and it changed my mood around. The wishes that go into the wishing tree, the "words you never got to say", the "mood buttons", let's flamingle, a stunning piano corner and the gorgeous plants and parakeets are just a few of the unique, creative and happiness boosting things about this place. I definitely want to attend for the "writing kind messages on rocks" event, hopefully I can make the July 14th one. I'm not sure who does all of this for them but all I know is things like this really do spread love, kindness and positivity. I was looking at the buttons in particular and noticed "grumpy, drained and stressed" were the main ones taken. (The point was to take the buttons that represent you so you can express yourself). And it made me feel less lonely today when I was feeling completely drained and annoyed and overwhelmed. It's like...wow, all of these people here feel the same and I don't have to feel bad that I'm not feeling like a million bucks. So yeah, please continue your amazing projects and let me know if you're looking for a new team member on to help with creativity. read more

I've come here on several occasions. I've been to Pannikin and Milton's in the past, but have seen other eating establishments that I would like to try. I never noticed that there is a walkway into this outdoor shopping center with small shops. Conveniently located right off the exit and an excellent place for a meet up. I really want to come back to visit Nothing Bundt Cakes, but their hours make it difficult for me to make the drive. Although I would like to try Paradise Grill, esp since they look like they have an amazing patio section, I have heard different reviews. It's still up for debate. Parking could be a bit busy here. A lot of OLDER and pish posh patrons visit this center, so be mindful when you see them driving erratically throughout and cross in front of you without looking. This is a great place to bring kids! There are so many little tables, water fountains, jungle gym, etc for kids (especially toddlers) to keep them busy!! Even adults, eyes are busy! Very cute and fresh looking outdoor strip mall with lots of eccentric shops and dining places. We stopped at Nothing Bundt Cakes and Three Dog Bakery and noticed they have a Burger Lounge here, YAY! I came here to actually dine at the Flower Child restaurant that's inside this outdoor mall. It's a nice mall filled with expensive stores, more of the higher end stores that I have never heard of. I'm used to going to the Westfield malls or the common malls in southern San Diego. This mall is right off the freeway at Via De La Valle on the 5 freeway. Very easy to find. Parking can be a negative depending where you park. Traffic can be horrible to get in and out of here. Situated right off the freeway can be bad. Those crazy drivers that cut you off and don't know how to get on the freeway. The only good thing about this outdoor mall is the restaurants it has here. I love to eat but sometimes this location is crowded. I live too far to come here often. I don't think it's worth the drive unless I'm ready to spend money on gas. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice mall but too expensive for my taste to be shopping here. I might be back to try the restaurants here but not to shop. read more

The decor throughout is highly inviting and makes you want to linger at the mall while enjoying a cup of coffee or visiting with friends (which is what shopping centers need to achieve in this current time of "buy-anything-you-want-online-without-ever-having-to-leave-your-home".) But there's one big downside, the playground for kids is adjacent to the Starbucks (an ideal match) except that frequently smokers take over the umbrella tables right next to the kids' playground. The mall doesn't have enough security people walking around to tell them to find somewhere else to smoke. The smoke permeates the patio area right near the Starbucks door and above the playground. Would be delightful if Flower Hill Promenade would clear the air and have it match the otherwise beautiful ambiance its creat read more

This shopping center has come a long way since I started coming here 6 years ago! They have completely remodeled it and still til this day adding new stores and restaurants! The only downfall is shops close early and this place gets pretty sleepy after 6pm but hey it's Del Mar lots of families with small children come here. My kids love the little playground by the toy store. It's a great place to come for a nice and quiet dinner and stroll over to Starbucks or yogurt land for a night cap! Sad to see Spa Blue has closed its doors I really hope they put another spa in there! Must try the newest eatery Flower Child it's my new addiction! read more

I've always found Flower Hill Promenade mall interesting. It is so busy with the shops and restaurants on the outside, but always seems pretty dead in the inside of the mall. I am sad that they took away the movie theater instead of upgrading it, because the area could use a movie theater. Cinepolis USA one exit away is great, but often full. But I do like the Whole Foods they replaced the movie theater with - would have been nice to have both! read more

I absolutely love the flower Hill Mall. I've been shopping there for 20 years. I love how they renovated the center. It's so nice to shop and drop your child off at if I were a bird yoga for a few hours to do errands. I must say the small has come along way. But the reason I gave it three stars is because the bathrooms are disgusting. That's the only thing that hasn't changed in 20 years. There's rarely any soap and the floors are always dirty not to mention the restroom smell. I feel when I am spending that kind of money in that center I should be able to walk into a restroom that is clean. read more

The more I visit this mall, the more I like it. Not only is located in a very nice area in Via de la Valle, but also in every visit I get a new surprise. This shopping center is definitely a rising star where seems that life is to be sipped and savored. Remember you have wonderful restaurants there such as Sea and Smoke and Cucina Enoteca, my favorites. Last week I also found out about Cafe Cantata and simply can´t wait to go back (sorry Pannikin, I can't resist their charm substituted your coffee). Del Mar's Flower Hill Promenade is currently "inBloom" - a special event going from Saturday, May 6 through Sunday, May 28, with vibrant floral displays and events and workshops led by local artists and Flower Hill merchants. The shopping center definitely feels like summer with the flowers, activities, and events. I loved that the designs tied into the shops - like the floral bathtub design in front of between the sheets. There were really cool playhouses for kids as well - made me wish I could play on them! The butterfly exhibit was closed when I was there, but looks super awesome as well! read more

There is some really cool stuff here. Mostly limitted to 3 things: 1. The Book Works. This is one of the finest bookstores in the county. Truly awe inspiring. 2. The Pannikin Del Mar. A hang out that has been here since the dawn of North County it seems. They continue to have great coffee and one of the best business simbiotic relationships I have seen with a shared door to The Book Works. 3. Thinker Things. The best Toy Store I have EVER been in. LOVE this place. Besides that I am kinda lukewarm on the place. It used to be a real neighborhood kinda place with kids running around and enjoying the different levels and a sense of fun in the air. Not the air is think with a sense of snobbery. Gone: Swensons Ice Cream from my youth. Gone: The little play bridge in the middle of the mall replaced by a snobby firepit/grille type restraunt. Gone: Nurseryland Gone: KooKooRoo Replaced by super upscale snobby dining places. The place is saved by the survivors of a bygone era for now ... but I find perverse pleasure in the fact that Pick Up Stix survives here. read more

Flowerhill is going downhill...fast! The Paradise Grill is a cute restaurant with terrible food and even worse service. We've tried it a couple of times and each time was worse! Avoid at all costs! The new mall owners cancelled the lease on the movie theater and are planning for a Whole Foods. The parking is terrible in this mall, so adding a crazy busy Whole Foods seems like a dumb idea. Plus, we need a movie theater on the coast for indie flicks. Keep the theater open!!! In a second horrible decision, the mall owners kicked Thinker Things to the curb after 30 years in that location. Happy to hear that the store is moving to the Solana Beach shopping center by Vons/Ross. Yeah! There are a lot of empty stores in the mall. And the few remaining stores are over priced and just not worth a trip. In fact, I'd probably never go into this mall if not for two great places: Pannikin and The Book Works. read more

Such a beautiful, fun place to stop while we were transporting a shelter dog to his new forever home! We could safely sit outside with this sweet pooch, who is blind, while we ate lunch and drank coffee from Starbucks. The need for the restroom was of course important since we were driving from Orange County to San Diego and then to Pasadena for this pooch and we each paid a visit to the restroom where we discovered no towels! When the staff was asked for towels, they were also without hand towels! I suggested they take a stroll down to Whole Foods and purchase a few rolls of paper towels for themselves as well as their guests. read more

Pegged as one of San Diego's premiere upscale shopping plazas, and rightfully so and they price tags are up there, it still carries a bit of an eclectic vibe which makes it less snooty and all the more appealing. It is home to Flower Hill Cinema featuring on many occasions independent/art films, Pannikin coffee house and The Book Works. Milton's Deli lives here as does yummy Taste of Thai and the pretentious but also yummy Paradise Grille to name a few. There are many other filler boutiques and specialty shops offering home decor to that lovely Rancho Santa Fe home just up the road and of course a primo children's boutique that I don't think I've ever bought anything in. If being posh isn't your thing, then Pannikin's and The Book Works as well as the cinema are definitely worth a visit. My favorite strip mall, easily! And I know most of the shopping public agrees with me, as it gets harder and harder to find parking. Granted, it's still pretty easy.. just go in the garage! But it used to be super-duper easy. The good ole days.. during the remodel, before word had spread how much better it had gotten. Sigh. Anyway, they have a ton of shops here that I love. Venissimo, a top-notch cheese shop and the best I've been to yet; The Wine Connection, a fantastic wine shop; Whole Foods; Pannikin; Dallman's Chocolates; Pangaea; and Core Power (whenever it is that I restart going to yoga). And it's super easy to get to, i.e. right off the freeway. Pretty much can't beat the great shops to overall shops ratio anywhere. read more

In town for a work trip and after driving from the airport (route was dry and no life) came here to stop at their WFM. The place was packed! I was happy to see that they have a back parking garage, phew! Once down on the main level I was nicely surprised they have a nice option of restaurants and shops, caters to all demographics even children. The place itself was filled with really pretty succulents and art, which immediately changed my mood. I can see this as a cute hangout spot for lunch . read more
