La Costa Town Square. New change from Vons and now Pavilions price difference in many cases from $2.00 to $5.00 on products that were the norm in all Vons. Pavilions change the name, and we can now t/make as given to take advantage. This is not, not, not as specialty store by any means. Switch the aisle around and update with new bells and whistles. The markup on common everyday products is the greed of passing on and let's see if they will take it. $$$ more for less on same products. read more

Rather charming plaza in Carlsbad that seems to be getting better and better. Aided by the gorgeous local climate, La Costa Town Square has tons of potential. There are a few large anchor stores like the Cinepolis movie theater, Vons, and the gym. There's also a mix of boutique chain stores and family businesses. The spaciousness and plentiful parking are great. Loved the palm trees and outdoor seating. read more

I have to say, I like this shopping town square. It offers plenty of parking spaces and some quality eateries to dine at, including Bushfire Grill, a Luna Grill, and Project Pie just to mention a few. It does not offer a movie theater, but it does offer a Vons, Stein Mart, Michael's and a Petco for all you pet enthusiast. For the neighborhood peeps that like to stay in shape, the town square has a 24 Hour Fitness center: a nice one too given I took a tour. They offer traditional banks and a San Diego Credit Union which made me happy given I belong to a credit union. If you need a European Wax, your nails done, or a new hairstyle, you can check the square out with their business offering such services. There's a Pacific Dental and Modern Eye Optometry as well. It's also a good center to come for a walk, especially after a good meal, given it perimeter is quite distant. The land escaping is well kept and the town square is kept well cleaned. read more

My son and I went to see Top Gun and were impressed with the style and decor. Luckily it was a quiet Sunday as there was no one checking on whether tickets were paid for or not. Additionally my son noticed the Bros advertising which I thought was completely inappropriate as there are young kids walking around the lobby. Additionally the bathrooms were not cared for and toilet seats were missing in the girls bathroom???? We love the theater and hope that management can correct these issues. I wrote this back in November 2014, but never showed up. Guess I didn't have an address so Yelp HQ didn't believe it existed. Oh well.... After years of legal battles, traffic studies and all sorts of other delays, this mall has finally opened! They had their grand opening this past Friday 11/7/14. Nothing extravagant since some stores haven't opened yet. The opening was originally slated for over 7 years ago. It was a big selling point for the new houses that were being built in the La Costa Oaks community. Grocery store, movie theatre and other retail and dining places right across the street. Year after year went by and finally, here it is. It's about time! What actually made it in are Vons, Stein Mart, 24 Hour Fitness as some of the larger retail. A couple banks, the Habit Burger, Starbucks and a dry cleaner. Overall pretty good selection of stores and fairly easy access in and out. Stay tuned for individual reviews! Keep on Yelping! So since then, more and more has opened. It's been about 7 months and they're still building out the gas station and looking for retails/ vendors to be housed in some of the current empty spaces. Hopefully soon, this mall will be up and running at full capacity. Bushfire Grill, Jambaa, Project Pie, Noodles and Company, Chipotle, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Citibank, SDCCU, Baked Bear, Suzie Q and the list goes on... OMG it's like an e-bike company dumped their inventory at this shopping center and all the kids jumped on them. It's treated as a spot for teens w/ e-bikes. It's a teen e-bike gang with hundreds of members. Please be careful because they ride on the sidewalk too. I love that I can go grocery shopping, pet supplies shopping, Starbucks after a movie at Cinépolis. Always ample parking. Oh I can get gas and do my banking there too. And there's a barber for my son. And a decent spots to eat, including restaurants, burgers, cakes, and Jamba Juice. It's basically a very convenient shopping center. Just pay attention to the kids riding e-bikes. I saw one kid that goes to my son's school. He told me his goes up to 50 mps. WTH. He's 15. I'm finding myself here every weekend now for some reason, but it's ok because I really like the shops in here. There's so much to offer here but no movie theatre. I think they should have one, but nonetheless, great way to spend a few hours eating your way through here, getting pampered and groomed or just grocery shopping. There's tons of parking spots here and I never have an issue with parking, especially in the mornings on weekends. Bushfire Kitchen is my favorite place to dine here but I'm finding that Suzie's Cakes and Menchie's are up there as well. read more

This place is a nicely built shopping center located on the east end of la costa, honestly I was hoping for some higher end shopping but instead ended up with a bunch of banks and a Stein Mart lol... Overall, this place is really anchored by the 24 hour fitness and Vons but is quickly gaining better stores/restaurants. Overall, not a bad place by any means, just not the top tier shopping center that we were hoping for. I feel like I've been waiting for YEARS for this place to open up and that's because I actually have been waiting years. I use to work for a temporary power company and we set the construction power up for this site while during each phase of the project. The location is so close to my house it was killing me not knowing what we were powering up. But now I can see it and I'm happy to say that it's really a great square. I want people to shop here because it's so well put together and starting to fill up with neat places to shop and good places to eat. But then I kind of don't want people to shop here because I'd rather just keep it to myself. Right now it's still a quiet, less than busy place, with lots of outside seating spots to have lunch. There's a HUGE 24 hour Fitness that had me almost wanting to dust off my gym card and head in. I'm more likely to head into the Baked Bear for an ice cream sandwich then the gym but I still like having the gym option. If they could add in a really good place for Indian Food I doubt I'd go anywhere else for a few months. read more

I would come more often if I didn't fear hitting one of the 100 kids and teenagers taking over the square. The kids on skateboards, bikes, scooters, etc make me too scared to drive in anymore. Someone is going to get seriously injured and I don't want to be around to see it. read more

There isn't a better store for people who can't always fit into everything presented at other stores. I am (and I am sure you are too) different sizes in different brands. Great shopping center located at a very busy intersection in the La Costa area. Excellent shops and awesome dining establishments here but the layout of the shopping center is just weird and parking is one of those things, that you have to question. At times when you are driving, there are just random spots labeled "Clear Air Vehicle" and it just makes no sense. read more

Nicely maintained place with upscale type basics. Vons, banks, gas station have been excellently designed for classy customers such as myself. Always use when needing services and am on the road from the coast. Lots of free parking in midday; short learning curve to exit with the traffic light. read more

A fine line between love and hate.Design and atmosphere are nice. Traffic congestion and horns honking at 5am coming up La Costa Ave and 2 more traffic lights to go places are the hate. This part of town did need more places to eat, however expect to pay $$$. If money is of no concern to you you will love Bushfire Grill. If you like malls with Macy's ect. you will like getting in and out and parking at this place just to grocery shop. Seems like most items in the grocery store are $1 or so more than other stores so I shop there only to pick up those rare times I forgot to buy something elsewhere. read more

Newish shopping center that has a few good stores. They have plenty of parking and they even have energy efficient vehicle parking close to the stores. They also have a 24 Hr Fitness super sport that has an area where they can watch children for up to 2 hours. There is a BofA ATM here as well. Vons is the grocery store here. They have benches around the businesses to enjoy fresh air. Very nice shopping if you are in the area. I'm sure they are expanding because there are a few empty spaces and a lot of open space. read more

I am pretty well versed and knowledgeable on retail space having owned a franchise/business in a very expensive retail center as recent as last year. I can easily say that La Costa Town Square is a first class center. For starters, its virtually brand new. So many retail centers sometimes referred to as stripmalls, are very dilapidated and neglected by wealthy "I could care less" landlord/property managers. Just drive through some areas of Encinitas and you'll know clear what I am referring to. Like others have said, it is pedestrian friendly for the most part, although I haven't seen many painted crosswalks. It is spacious and designed well from what I can tell. I like that there is a retail space map with the name of the property management team available for reference. The parking lots are spacious. Just beware that the premium parking spots fill up very fast. The selection of stores, restaurants, etc are good IMHO. I would like to see some nice clothing establishments fill the voids. I have enjoyed some of the food places more than once in a 7 day period. The quality is there for sure. Improvements needed or mistakes: 1) Starbucks. The world can do without your presence. If you think I'm kidding myself, ask yourself what Starbucks meant to you before 1997. It's like a cellular phone. We all survived without it for a very long time. 2) Trashcans. Tonight, I watched a customer outside of Susie Cakes finish her dessert and look all around for trashcan. She had to walk back into the store in order to throw away her trash. 3) Clean Air Vehicle parking only? Huh? I drive an Electric vehicle and still can't figure it out. If the property manager installs EV chargers at those particular parking spots that would make complete sense, but until then "my wheels" are still turning. 4) Well Fargo and Chase are butting heads. I'm not sure if I have ever seen two banks share the same parking lot. Interesting. Well, that's my two cents for now. read more

After waiting for years and hearing how fabulous this would be, I was so disappointed when I checked it out. It could have been so much more, such as the "Town Center" name suggests. Once you go to The Grove in LA, you experience a place that was done right. This is nothing betting than your run of the mill shopping center. Left me not seeing the need to return. read more

This is a new area! I'm very excited to see what happens in the future and the developments of the area. Already there's so many useful locations and places to go visit and use. My favorite spots on the 24 hour fitness chipotle. And baked bear. You can literally get a workout in a meal and get groceries done. The area is fresh and new and clean feels very safe I would definitely recommend friends and family to come visit. read more

Basic disappointment. The layout of the parking lot is a disaster. Every turn you make, you are running into oncoming traffic from another direction. Pedestrian traffic from 24 hour fitness should not been placed across one of the two entrances to the center. Was only hoping for one decent restaurant where you could sit down, get waited on and have a glass of wine. Everything is counter ordered. Besides the overpriced VONS, there is not a thing in there I couldn't live without. read more

Very disappointing. This could have been and should have been so much better. The parking lot and the whole design is a disaster. The place is basically a huge parking lot with mostly small buildings that house very small restaurants and businesses. I can't believe there isn't at least one large restaurant, preferably a sports bar, that has a waiting staff to serve ice cold beer and good food. The location is walking distance from my home and every adult in my neighborhood says the same thing. Why isn't there a sports bar in there, a place we can walk to and enjoy ourselves? The only good things the place has to offer (IMHO) is the Vons market, which is great, 24 Hour Fitness, Chevron and maybe...the Brushfire Kitchen. read more

This is a beautiful center, but a bit "light" in content. Way too many chain eateries. (Another Chipotle, Noodles and Project Pie, a Habit, a Starbucks and Luna Grill.. We HAVE these already, five minutes away.) And banks! Four, I think! I do actually appreciate the Stein Mart and was NOT looking for another Sports Bar for beer and large TV Screens. The 24 hour Fitness is popular, but poorly placed and the traffic flow is odd.... Bushfire Grill has a nice patio and a Michaels is coming soon. The Vons is comicaly expensive, however I do like the gas station so easy to access off Rancho Sante Fe and so easy to get back on the road. I think this center could have been "more" than it's turned out to be. What happened to the movie theatres planned for the area? Now those we NEED. read more
