They're curious, bright kids who love to learn, so I thought it would be fun to bring them to pick out crystals and ask about a mysterious rock that showed up in our yard--possibly a meteorite! When I looked at the website that morning and saw they had a music room, I was thrilled--I'm just beginning my own sound healing journey and have started collecting instruments like crystal singing bowls and Koshi chimes. What happened during our visit was something I couldn't have planned, and I'm still in awe of it. We were welcomed so warmly, and while we were browsing, my younger nephew found the music room and was greeted by the kindest soul--Chloe. She truly made our visit magical. Her kindness, passion, and care created a memory for us I will always treasure. The boys were fascinated by the instruments, and we all learned so much. I feel like the universe gifted us this moment--and it gave me a way to introduce my new passion to my family in such a natural and joyful way. We each left with meaningful stones, a deeper appreciation for the healing power of music, and a sense of connection that I hope continues to grow. Everyone we met was kind and helpful--but truly, the brightest gem in the whole shop was Chloe. Her energy, presence, and generosity of spirit turned our visit into something magical. Whatsit & Doohickey is a new store in downtown Libertyville. I went there to shop for my son's…read morebirthday and found that they had a lot of toys that aren't carried by big box stores like Walmart and Toys R Us. The store was really inviting, the walls are colorful and there are neat lamps like lava lamps and plasma lamps throughout the store. There are toys all over the place and the manager encouraged us to play with the toys, which was great because I was able to see what my son liked before I bought anything. They had really cool toys some were new but some reminded me of the ones I had when I was little so I thought that was neat. . There were some different wind up toys, dolls for girls, and puppets but there were also science kits, and a few alternatives to Legos. They carried stuff that my husband and I would love to have as well, which means when I go there he can look at stuff and I can shop for the boys, a win-win situation. They have various desk toys (like bobbleheads) and "critical thinking" tools. The best of which was an item called Buckyballs, which I bought for my husband and he loves. I have since gone back in and brought my boys with me, they have played with silly hats, and the light up glasses which of course they begged me to buy. Its worth the trip to Libertyville just to shop there! I can't wait to go back in next time as their merchandise is always changing.

He went as far as to physically measuring a sectional that we were interested in and writing down the dimensions so that we could go home and make sure we were making the right selection for our family room. He did not once make us feel like he was just another pushy salesmen just trying to get a sale. Due to covid and the shortage of furniture he let us know what he physically had in stock so that we were not waiting months for furniture, while still meeting our wants/needs. When came time for delivery he was able to get us SAME DAY delivery and set up!! Delivery men were just as pleasant and friendly and made sure everything was set up and in working order before they left. They also left zero mess in our home. We will definitely be back for future furniture needs!

I asked if I could take some pictures for Yelp and she was very gracious. There are a bunch of great gift choices and I really like supporting a local business that also supports local makers. I saw plenty of things I'd like for myself but was on a holiday gift mission so trying to stay focused, but that was tough at this store. Temptation abounded! I really want to come back for some of the workshops. The proprietor showed me some really pretty shell dishes she made and I'd like to try that myself. This place is a gem. After eying an interesting lamp and the $5 rack through the store windows one evening, I hoped to catch Eclectic Angel open sometime. Luckily for me, I had the good fortune of being in the neighborhood the next day with some time to browse the racks at Roni's fine store. I made a beeline for the $5 rack and ended up snagging a sweet 1960's sheath dress ($5!!). Roni piped up to let me know of a small stain near the armhole, but when something fits well and is only $5, an unnoticeable stain hardly matters. I did, however, appreciate her honesty and friendliness. After perusing the racks of dresses, jackets, blouses, shoes, belts and bags, I drooled over the vintage jewelry and eyed some very fun home wares (lamps, unique ashtrays, place settings, yada yada). Roni and my shopping partner, Angela, helped me select 3 dresses (a gorgeous bombshell 50s piece, the 60s steal and a flowy 70s number) in addition to a versatile 50s top and a sweet patent leather belt. The trip to Eclectic Angel cost $80. Sure, it's not Village or Goodwill prices, but I did manage to snag 4 new vintage outfits in near-perfect condition, while one dress in a contemporary boutique or store could easily cost as much, if not more. Eclectic Angel is full of fun items to browse, has a great vibe, a fun soundtrack and a fantastic store-owner. I will certainly be back to browse (and buy) some more!
