Ive had one positive experience here and one very negative. I go in to have my undercut (1/4 of my scalp) shaved down to a #2 length. The first time they charged me the rate for a neck shave and the person who trimmed my hair (sorry i cant remember their name) was wonderful). The price was very reasonable. Today when i went in, i asked if i could receive the exact same service. They looked up what i received last time and said no problem. I sat in the chair and 5 minutes later they were done. When i went to check out, the stylist (Kortney) told the check out person they needed to charge me for a full haircut ($34) because she 'used a guard'. That was 3x what i was told i would be paying. Im not sure why Kortney thought her service was worth $408/hr but that was absurd and not at all the service i asked for and agreed to the price of. The nice woman at the check out offered me 50% off but i still feel ripped off paying $17 (plus the tip i left anyway). read more

came here for my first post-quarantine haircut, so I was pretty pumped. the $27 (+ $7 tip) haircut took less than 15 minutes. felt a little rushed, although there was no one else in the salon. when I went to my car I could tell something was off, but it wasn't until I got home and showered did I realize just how uneven my hair was. if you look at the photo of me realizing why something looked "off" imagine me finding out it was like that all over lmao. staff was nice but I do not recommend for a men's haircut. Hair trim took 4 mins and looked worse afterwards. At $39 it's not worth it when an actual stylist in a salon charges about 20 bucks more. Also their suggested tip is 25%, I am a good tipper but $39 for 4 mins (not good) work and then $10 on top. No thanks. Also don't bother with an appointment you won't get the person you ask for. I have been coming here for several years. Ariel is my stylist. She has seen me through color changes, short and long hair and many in between stages. She has always been amazing with her skills to layer and shape my hair to fit my face and my current life moods. Ariel is excellent with hair color and she is able to listen to what you want. Then she creates it. This is invaluable in a hairstylist. The atmosphere at floyds is upbeat, but there are times when the music is too loud making it so creating connection with the stylist is challenging. This would be my only complaint is the music. But the staff at the Boulder location have been amazing and kind for years. I am grateful for Floyd's and I am very grateful for Ariel working at Floyd's. She is the reason I keep returning. read more

I would give this 2.5 stars if I could but sadly I felt it was closer to a 2 than a 3. I've been here about 4 times in the last year and 2 out of the 4 times they did not cut my hair as requested. The first time they comped my haircut which was really nice of them but this time I just didn't even say anything. I asked for my hair on top to not be cut but rather just to fade the sides and around the back. Instead she just completely buzzed the sides and around the back. Not a fade whatsoever. I was worried this was going to happen because when I started explaining what I was looking for she indicated she knew exactly what I wanted for before i even finished explaining it. I can't even fully blame her, I'm sure she's paid so poorly that the only way for her to make a living wage is to turn the chair around as quickly as possible. Definitely won't be back as this place is just a fancy looking Supercuts but charges you like they're a salon. I can't believe they're even legally allowed to be called a barbershop because the majority of their employees are stylists. read more

Oh. My. God. I have a mullet. A MULLET!!!! I did not ask for a mullet. I have (or should I say, "I had") very plain, straight long hair. Nothing fancy. I have no "style," just long and It has got to be the easiest hair to cut. A monkey could cut a straight line, right? While in here waiting for my boyfriend to get a cut I thought I would just get a simple trim. The girl totally butchered me. I don't understand. The first cut she made was to take about 8 inches off the front of my hair. (I did not ask for bangs! I asked for a trim!). Once she did that it was all over... After reading Ali S.'s review I feel I've found a partner in misery. They also - not kidding - gave me an unwanted mullet-esque do! My hair is also long and straight, with VERY slight layers in front - and I'm talking all hair below the shoulders layers, not remotely mullet-like layers - and the girl for some reason decided I wanted something funky and new, which I DIDN'T. I very clearly indicated with my fingers how much I wanted cut off, and it was a modest amount. She cut up to my chin. When she swiveled me around I could hardly hide my horror. I had to have her cut the rest of it, the back and everything, so I didn't look like I'd tried to get bangs cut and changed my mind or something. My hair ended up at least 5 inches shorter than I wanted it to be, at that awkward length where my thick hair just poofs out around my face. Awesome. Skip this place. read more

My first experience with Floyd's here in Boulder and I would say that I was very pleased with my service and haircut. I was a walk in with no appointment on a Thursday about 4pm and when I got there the place was full, and I was greeted nicely by the girls at the counter and they told me it would be about a 20 to 30 minute wait, so I just took a seat and waited. In watching the others it appeared everyone else was pleased with their hair being done and someone was going around cleaning up the floor and making conversation with others which was nice. I ended up waiting about 15 minutes or so and then hair my head done as I requested with no problems. Checking out was also very easy with the terminal right there and easy to add in tip. Being my first experience I was very happy and will return again. read more

This place is quite frustrating. Any time I have ever set an appointment, I've showed up and STILL had to wait fifteen minutes. So I tried to get smart and call in real early and was immediately told "because our wait is so short right now, I can't make an appointment that far out." That far out, was only two hours out. She continued: "I suggest calling back an hour ahead of time." You literally can't win with this place. The bottom line is-- you're going to wait for a LONG time. Period. As far as the actual haircuts go, there is no consistency. Some of the ladies are phenomenal at what they do while others couldn't snip their way out of a paper bag. So basically, you're gambling with your hair unless you've already found one of the ladies that you like and who does a good job for you. But, of course, the trick there is to work your way through a few bad haircuts first. The price is about what you would expect. All in all, this place is a mediocre experience. read more

Those bad reviews make me sad because the 4 times I've been here I've been really happy with the results. 1. Long layered cut with red peekaboo highlights 2. Bought my friend a layered hair cut since she has always been disappointed with other places for her grad gift and she liked it 3. Got a "mullet cut" I think this is what the others was referring to, it's actually like an emo/scene hair cut so that you can backcomb your hair and have lots of volume or just have some volume without doing anything. 4. Got a long layered cut and bang trim Everyone there is super friendly and nice. Even though it's more of a guy's barbershop, I've always felt very welcome there as a woman. I think the prices are very good for my results, especially for coloring as it seems to cost more at places like Great Clips or Cost Cutters. read more

I come to Floyd's every 4 weeks for a cut and I've never left feeling bummed or dissatisfied about my hair. The people here are nice and social with a few bad eggs but for the most part they are helpful. The price point here, at the least (for adults) is $21 plus at tip which is a bit high. read more

Really disappointed in the service at this place. I scheduled appointments for my kids to both have their haircut at 4 PM. The front desk people treated me like a mosquito, telling me to sit tight and wait. First kid was seated at 4:07 and the second kid (a 4-year-old mind you) was seated at 4:17. Meanwhile they were taking walk-ins the whole time and the barber who did the second cut was available that whole time. They did a good job on the cuts themselves, but it wasn't enough to compensate for the lack of service and rude front desk people. I was looking for a replacement place for my kids haircuts since Jack and Jill closed, but this isn't going to be that place sadly. read more

Ok. So this is a two time review. I'll start with saying I've been happy both times with the way my hair looked. The first time I got my haircut bY Stephanie back in August, and she was nice and did exactly what I asked no complaints or anything. However today I went in again and was placed with Erika (I think that was her name she didn't even introduce herself). She did a good job in the end, but was so unfriendly and had a continuous attitude problem. She kept saying what i was asking for wasn't gunna look right because A,B,C, and would let out multiple loud sighs when I asked her to cut more. That's just silly. I'm the end I'm pleased with my hair, however my experience the second time around wasn't pleasant. Shoutout though to the spunky stylist with blue hair and nose piercing for dancing , enjoying yourself and bringing a smile to everyone in the shop. read more

I was struggling looking for a place that I could trust to cut my hair (I'm really picky) and I went to Floyd's because I'd been on one other occasion and had a good experience. I didn't want to go to a $15 haircut place, for fear they may butcher my cut. I was set up with Megan. She was so adorable and listened very well to all my requests and even gave me feedback on what she would think would look good. I appreciated that she did that. She was very diligent and made sure I looked great walking out of there. And I loved my hair cut! It was exactly what I wanted. I would recommend this place to anyone. Their prices are much cheaper (I paid $29 for a long layered cut, she partially blow dried my hair, and used a razor to give me a piece-y look) than a more upscale salon but I feel like they do the same quality of cut. I come here all the time and my barber is usually great and cuts my hair exactly how I like it, however yesterday I had a new girl (bright pink hair, don't remember her name) who completely went against what I asked for and lacked communication throughout the process. i've been growing out a mullet for months and told her that and she went ahead and shaved it off without claryifiying, as soon as I felt the razor I redirected her that I only wanted the sides faded and AGAIN she didn't listen. I was recommended Floyd's by two different people so I decided to go there. I have been growing my hair out for about 4 years now. Went in for a TRIM and to thin my hair out because it's getting hot and I have super thick hair. After expressing how nervous I was, and explaining what I wanted the unbelievably rude stylist Taylor proceeded to cut off 2 inches more than was asked and gave me the absolute worst haircut I've ever had. Including the time I cut my own hair in kindergarten. Now I'm going to have to lose more time, money, and hair to have someone else fix it. HAIR I'VE BEEN GROWING OUT FOR YEARS. NEVER will I return.
