I've been getting my hair cut by James S for years. Always great service good pricing and overall friendly staff.

They have great barbers. Make sure you have an appointment, though. The management and host team are not very accommodating to walk-ins. During my last visit, the manager and the receptionist appeared somewhat annoyed that I just walked in without an appointment, and even told me to go away. I only stayed and was serviced because a barber stepped in and insisted that I remain so he could cut my hair. He was the only one who wanted me to stay. However, the manager and receptionist were not happy about it. The barbers are super friendly and professional. Management and the host team leave a lot to be desired. They are not very welcoming or accommodating to people with exceptional physical challenges or walk-ins. Keep that in mind if you are considering this place. read more

We made an appointment for 11:30 we got there a a little early just in case and we were waiting checked in right away and had We asked for whoever was available and at 11:50 we were still waiting all while watching one of the stylists do her own hair in the mirror. I get that appointments can be off by a few mins and we understand but 20 mins after and then watching an available stylist do her own hair for 15 mins is ridiculous ...we were the only two people in the waiting area and the girl at the desk sat down behind the register and no one even checked on us ... very disappointing unprofessional customer service. read more

Was scheduled a haircut @230. I come back two hours later and the stylist decided to go home so I am left without anyone to cut my hair. I'm literally bald so no time it takes to do this. The manager Amanda S. Stated there was nothing that they could do for me and no one to cut my hair and I would have to reschedule for 7 o'clock tonight. I have a Primrose ball to attend for my friend's daughter which I did explain to them before I left. I asked for a low fade, Rose decided she wanted to leave early and just give me a 10 year old buzz and cut. I was displeased and said I asked for a low fade and she said, "Sorry I have been cutting hair 27 years you need to be specific". I asked another barber next to her what she cut and he said a mid fade. She got "uncomfortable" and did not finish the cut. What an unprofessional person, DO NOT GO HERE if you want a good fade. We are always so happy with our service at Floyd's 99. We have two little ones who aren't always the most still, but their hair comes out wonderfully every time. This time we received cuts from Meridith and Allie, who were both extremely patient with our boys. They loved their cuts and were both dancing as they got out of their chairs! I just started going to Floyd's recently for my haircut and I'm sold. I previously was going to one of the bigger chains and was almost always getting inconsistent results. When I tried Floyd's I noticed an attention to detail that you just don't get at the bigger chains. I have a lot of experience with stylists that overpower what I want. Kim Pinner listens to the client and combines her knowledge of what will look best. She asked me several times before making any big steps, and told me everything she was doing during the process. She made sure my part was perfect and how I wanted. I asked her to give me a choppy a-line bob and thats exactly what I got. She left it longer in case I was worried about cutting too much off. I'm happy because I can still pull it back in a ponytail. She razor cut my hair without leaving it bulky on the top - she knew exactly what vibe I wanted my hair to have. It feels more weightless and has more movement now. She also gave me tips on products and techniques she used and why. Kim is as quirky and funny as she is talented. I had a great experience with her and would recommend her for fun haircuts that other stylists may not understand. read more

It's a pity that this place with all the great talent working there just can't get their shit together with appointments. I've tried two times and there is some sort of drama each time. First time they couldn't pull up my appointment and had to do me a favor to get me someone else after 30 min. Second time somehow someone marked it as a no-show two hours before the appointment time and they called me to reschedule for another day. Made an appointment and when I was sat I was told by the stylist that she wasn't going to style my hair or do any wash because they were really busy but they didn't want to cancel my appointment. Fine. Felt rushed the whole time and she didn't even turn the chair around so that I could see my hair when she was done, just handed me a mirror to look at the back (which was crazy uneven). If you value your time like I do, don't go here. Stylists are good and engaging for the most part but only after you spend over an hour here every single time. Yesterday was the worst tho and the reason I'm not going back. Had a 1:30pm scheduled appt (key word: *scheduled* appt). I'm pretty patient and understanding, but after waiting until about 2:15 on my Sunday with no update and what the heck was going on, I just left. I was not late, but if someone sat right when I got there (in place of my *scheduled* appt) why is his cut taking 45+ minutes? I would have sat with another stylist - there was a guy just sitting there on his phone, I'd imagine he'd want to make some money? I tend to tip well. I'll look like a scrub for a couple more days and go to a stylist who keeps scheduled times. read more

This is my first bad review in my life, hopefully also the last. Today (11/22/2023, 3:30pm), the day before Thanksgiving, I walked in with a great holiday mood hoping to kick off the holiday with a good haircut - instead, I got a bad haircut, worse customer service, and totally ruined holiday. 1. I live within 5 min walk distance but I never visited here before since I got my own barber somewhere else. However, today I just wanted to try out Floyd's since it's so close. I didn't worry too much because all I needed was a simple trim - a routine maintenance - what could go wrong? 2. I was assigned to a barber upon walk-in, Will. I showed him over 10 photos of my previous haircuts from all angles, telling him I needed a trim to get back the same I had 3 weeks ago. He seemed pretty confident and started right away. 3. Throughout the 45 min cut, he always kept me back to the mirror so I couldn't see what's going on However, all other barbers always show their customers to the mirror side -  that's fine, I trusted him and I thought maybe that's how he works and I wanted to show respect, so I played along not saying a thing. 4. After 45 mins, he gave me a small mirror (still not turning me back to the big mirror side) and asked me how it looked - it looked very different than the photos I showed him. I kept calm and told him why I thought it's different. He didn't argue but also didn't seem to understand what was the problem. He even asked me how I'd like him to fix it technically - that's his job and he's supposed to know - as a customer, not a barber, all I can tell him is how it looked different. He seemed understanding and started to fix it. 5. After another 15 mins, he showed me the small mirror again (still not the big mirror) - the back was better but the front was even worse than before, with obvious careless cuts/holes. This time I asked to be turned to the mirror so I can see the full picture - really really bad... now we're even further away from the photos. I still kept my calm but had to tell him this is still not right - now he flipped out!! He immediately became agitated and yelled at me saying this looks exactly the same with the photos, and he kept repeating this not giving me any chance to explain. Then he called the manager/receptionist over asking if this is a good haircut. She (name unknown, check who's on duty from 3:30 - 4:30 on 11/22) quickly glanced my hair and mumbled "yeah this is good" while quickly walking away - all without even addressing me asking what I thought was wrong!!! As if I'm only a plant/furniture, not a human worthy of her attention, not to mention a customer!!! 6. At this point, it had changed from a bad haircut to a horrible customer service, I was really shocked by how rude both of them treated me! This left me speechless, but it got even worse!!! After the manager left, he seemed rather validated, then he YANKed my apron away with obvious anger while making a disrespectful noise - he kicked me out like a bag of trash, with a horrible master piece of his on my head. I didn't even get a hot towel!?! My face was still covered with cut hairs! I had to beg him to wash my hair so I could at least walk out decently! But still no hot towel for my face! I had to go to the restroom and cleaned myself for 5 mins to remove all those hairs everywhere. 7. As a lawful and civil citizen, I still paid my fee - $44 in exchange of a bad haircut and horrible experience! I walked out still in shock for several hours - is this the customer service anyone deserves? I felt bullied, and at the same time hating myself for being "too" civil/nice to them as I always am for anyone anywhere - they absolutely didn't deserve my manners, they should be yelled at just like what they did to me, and possibly other victims! 8. This nightmare made me realize how much better other barbers and other shops are, I should never even thought about trying Floyd's!!! I trusted them as a long-standing franchise and this was what my blind trust got me. Hair, ruined! Holiday, ruined!! Heart, traumatized!!! read more

I have been going here for a couple of years but my old Barber left and I went in for a long cut. I asked for just a trim no more than half an inch off except where it was sticking out in back. Anyway, 2 + inches off later all around, she turns me around and asks if I want it shorter. ‍ at the register she says it was a Floyd cut right and I said it was supposed to be a trim and long cut. I had a first great experience here. I meet Briana through the greater heights chambers and decided to try them out. My appointment was with Ashlee. She was awesome. I had previously left another salon and she asked the perfect amount of questions to see why I was unhappy at my other location. Not once did she ask who or where. I thought that was super professional of her since I've been to other places that were a little bit more gossipy. I love how the bowls are at the chairs. Had a wonderful experience with Ash, she's a boss! This was my first experience with a Floyd's barbershop. Shop location is very convenient with plenty of parking. Inside atmosphere was welcoming with great music and a cool clean interior. Ash was right on schedule and got me in-n-out in no time! Tons of services available, all priced reasonably. They carry a variety of quality products from beard oils to texture powder. Overall, this is my new go to spot, no complaints! Very excited to see Floyd's open! I've been a regular of Ashlee for some time now so she's been keeping me updated with the grand opening and all the service that Floyd's has to offer. The shop itself has a great, high-energy environment along with the great customer service, not only from Ashlee but also from all the other employees at Floyd's. I'm not one to wait in line for a haircut so it was exciting news to hear that you can book an appointment through their website and/or app. Ashlee has been a great barber since day one, hence why I've followed her to Floyd's. Her cuts are consistent, which is rare to find in a barber, and she always makes her clients her priority. Customer service is above and beyond and you will never leave disappointed. The atmosphere is fun with all of the musicians plastered on the wall and the playlist of pop and rock music. It's a very clean and inviting space, and is a chain that started in Denver and is in many other major cities. They really seem to have their concept, design, and service all in place! I got my haircut fixed (from a bad experience at another shop) by Brandon. He is very detail oriented and I want to keep going to him! I wish he didn't have to leave! He is here to open the store, but intends to move back to Denver! He is a good conversationalist and easy to spend time with, but also does some amazing work! Definitely one of the best haircuts I have had, and he had to work with what was previously off, because of another barbershop (That is saying a lot!). Their haircuts are cheaper than Cutthroat, but beard trims are not a listed service. So, they charge for a $20 express shave, to line up the beard with a straight razor. Their pricing overall is less and the service is much friendlier and more polished than Cutthroat has been, recently. read more

The first three times I was here were great haircuts which is why I'm giving it three stars. This haircut was terrible. My main issue is I clearly said to leave the top alone and they butchered through it probably cutting half of it away and thinning it out, only stopping when I saw them going through it multiple times. I figured I had to let them finish thinning it out once or it'd be uneven due to their initiative but I only have so much hair that you can take away before I said enough. All I wanted was a skin fade on the side and to leave the top alone. The skin fade was uneven you round the head and roughly cut. They fixed the major spot I pointed out at the end but I just wanted to get out of their since the alcoholic solution on my neck was burning at the many cuts I had. The fade is so far away from my beard that it looks amateurish. They cut the front hair getting rid of my natural curls. Lastly I came in with my hair styled as I normally wear it so they could see how I normally fashion it but I feel the stylist just wanted to do the cut they wanted instead of listening to me. read more

Super cool shop! I'm a regular client of Ashlee and she kept me posted on all the updates with this shop. The vibe here is excellent. Lighting is on point and the price is right about what you'd expect for a quality cut and service. Highly recommend! They've got a website where you can schedule appointments which eliminates the wait times that are typical of barbershops sometimes. Front desk staff were very friendly and excited as well. As for the haircuts, they're always good. The ability to communicate with Ashlee is the main reason I've stuck with her. The attention to detail and top level customer service is second to none. Floyd's is a conveniently located near the happening spots in the heights. Plenty of places to eat around and it fits right in next to hopdoddy. The vibe of this place is pretty cool. The wall is covered with a multitude of artists, the music is bumpin, and the staff is very welcoming and attentive. I followed Ashlee here from a previous spot and I must say that I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in. Needless to say you need to check this place! Definitely request Ashlee! I consider myself a very picky person when it comes to do my haircut. Since I moved to Houston I've been searching for a good place to do a proper shave and feel comfortable and confident of not having a hairstyle that I don't like. I even traveled long miles out of town to salons hoping they would get me a pretty good old shave... Without luck. So I stumbled upon these guys at Floyd's 99 Barbershop. These guys are in the heart of The Heights area, there are nice eats and nice places around it for you to wander. The barbershop itself has a very vintage-grungy style that also makes you feel like an old-school barbershop. It even got its own branded grooming and shaving products, a thing which I like since I'm a graphic designer. The staff is experienced and very friendly, customer service is personalized so they'll make you feel like you have your own hairstylist. Did I mention they even have an app where you can do appointments and check out their products? that makes the whole experience even more complete. To sum up, it was a really nice experience visiting this place, I encourage you to go and try this barbershop, you'll love the whole experience.
