Because of that, I'll admit I get a little nervous trying a new stylist or barbershop. After my first visit in 2023, though, I knew I had found my spot. Across all the stylists I've had, Michelle has been the most consistent and efficient at this, with special attention to my annoying cowlicks, but I haven't gotten a *bad* cut from anybody. Something cool is the manager would text me personally after cuts to ask for feedback. Maybe since I'm a regular the texts have stopped, but it feels like in their own way, everyone here cares.

The second we walked up to the barber shop, she was outside walking in and I could hear she was already offended by us. I heard her mutter under her breath "de cho thang me lam di" which means "I should let the Mexican guy work on them" but in a very disparaging tone. As if she's too good to cut our hair so she's gonna let "the Mexican" handle it...so why didn't she let him? Oh yeah, he was busy...everyone in the shop was busy but her. Against my better judgement, we stayed anyway because of my desperation for haircuts...but we are never coming back! As one Vietnamese woman to another, we need to do better. We are never beating the allegations if you are going to continue to perpetuate a stereotype of people feeling like they are being talked about in a salon if that's all you know how to do. Also, don't rent out stations and profit off Mexicans if that's how you really feel.

Elaine is located in the Sola Salons at Culver and Irvine Center, so convenient location for me living in Irvine. I was impressed by Elaine's professionalism to her art, whether it came down to the hair style, the choice of items to use to spice up my hair when it was done, and the optional ear and nose wax removal, which I did for the first time and highly recommend! All in all Elaine ended up using the entire hour with me, so compared to those places where you are in and out in 15 minutes, I definitely appreciated her attention to detail. Needless to say highly recommend!

[Atmosphere]: Very modern vibe and apparently they offer complimentary drinks (I only learned about it after my haircut was done). [Booking]: While they allow online appointment, please note that there's no cancellation within 24 hours of the schedule appointment. I booked a session with Maher. [Price]: Classic haircut for $70 (pre-rinse, desired haircut, hot towel, styling with product) for a 40-minute time slot. I asked the staff about the Yelp 50% off discount code and the staff said the code is not valid anymore. However the staff offered another active & working Yelp discount code and was able to take $17 off. Honestly even with the discount, it was still one of the most expensive haircut services I have ever had. There's also a Groupon deal, but apparently it is for the 1st time customer only. They also offer $220 Harold's Experience (pre-rinse, desired haircut, shampoo + conditioning, scalp massage, hot towel + hot lather neck shave, styling with product, beard trim no straight razor, face mask, nose + ears + eyebrow wax) and $1,000 Harold's Black Label Experience (2-hour private barbershop takeover - Harold's Experience + a drink, custom music, and complete privacy. Leave with a styled finish, lightly misted with a premium cologne, and gifted with a take-home grooming kit). [Haircut experience - classic haircut]: No pre-rinse for my haircut, but Maher was great at execution. I showed him a picture of a specific hairstyle. Next he took a picture of my desired haircut and the result was what I wanted - so nothing to complain about on the actual haircut result. [Conclusion]: The overall experience here reminded me of Edition Studio in San Gabriel Valley - high quality haircut but not exactly an affordable experience (don't forget it's $70 for a classic haircut without discount + tip). I would consider coming back here again if I need a special haircut.

My husband has been coming to this shop for years. It's nice and close to our apartment so it's just a walk away. We have dealt with the high turn over in employees in the past and my husband has managed to get just ok haircuts. It was until we met SHANE that my husband reached his full potential with his haircut. This meant a lot to my husband considering his hectic work schedule. Shane not only gave a very high quality haircut but he became my husbands friend. So , it was always a joy and something he looked forward to every couple weeks. Unfortunate Shane suddenly didn't work at Floyds anymore one day and it was a huge loss for us. We asked for Shane's info or if he went to another barbershop. Floyds employees absolutely refused to give out his info. So my husband went back to trying out different stylist and no one could cut his hair well. He continued to ask for SHANEs info and no one would give it out. I don't understand why Floyds would do this. They produce sub par haircuts and would rather make my husband walk around looking like a dang bird. lol I'm sorry but it seems wrong. So with that I am here to say WE FOUND SHANE!!! I'm very lazy about writing reviews, but Priscilla deserves one. I'm picky about stylists because cutting straight, thick, stubborn-ass hair is not an easy task and with style. Wait, with a style that I request. I've been going to Priscilla for a while now and I've returned because when I show her a picture of what I want, she gets it. And with an easy going, fun attitude. If I want it adjusted after I take a peek, she's cool with it. No 'tude. She may chime in if she thinks it will work or not because of her knowledge of hair and texture. Doesn't try to add "a surprise twist" on it as I've experienced with stylists at other shops. The only time I prefer a surprise twist is in a movie or maybe, in a dessert. And she doesn't give me crap if I want a more boyish cut because I'm a girl *gasp*. So yeah, that's a hint to all you lesbians out there, if you're looking for a good stylist. (: It's unfortunate about the one low review from the other Yelper and not to take away from their personal experience, but with my experience with any scheduling frustrations at Floyd's is because of the coordinator who may be new or is not communicating properly to the stylists. I have been going to this location for years and never had a bad experience until now, I made my usual appointment for a simple trim, and unfortunately I showed up 7 minutes late, which is my bad, life happens sometimes. However I was turned away by a very uncompassionate new guy at the front counter, the vibe I got from him was that he absolutely could care less about me or the company, he didn't apologize for the inconvenience or offer any solutions, just sorry can't help you. The customer after me was already there and as soon as I walked out the door they sat him down 12-13 minutes early to start his service as I was turned away. He was the only customer waiting in a half full store, I asked if I could wait and if they could squeeze me in and was told I needed to make another appointment. This whole time I was very polite from the moment I walked in, and apologetic for being a few minutes late. But by the time I left I was legit pissed off for how I was treated being a long time customer and left feeling so dismissed. I will never go to a Floyds 99 again for any reason, I don't care how good or not good they are. They've lost me as a customer. read more

What a great place for all my haircut needs. The atmosphere is fun and everyone is so nice and helpful, and their prices are within my budget. I would like to give a specific "Shout Out" for Susan P... Susan does an excellent job and is very helpful recommending products that may be beneficial for me, between haircuts. Recently I wanted to have my hair shorter but was unsure as to what length would work. So I discussed various options with Susan and finally we came up with the perfect length. PRISCILLA IS SERIOUS ABOUT HER WORK and even more serious about her Cients!! How lucky were we to get the best gal in the joint?! My 9 yr old son and I walked in on Christmas eve shaggy, dry and over grown...and with a few flicks of her magic scissors (and extensive hair background) we were transformed....We felt like Dorothy and the Tin Man after thier OZ Spa!! This is the first barber shop that I go frequently, prior to discovering Floyd's I would hop around from shop to shop. I always get my haircuts by Nick, he's the most knowledgable barbers I've ever met. He always takes his time cutting and pays really good attention to detail. Also the products he recommends are always on point, always satisfied. I admit, it is a little pricey for a haircut, but like the saying goes "you get for what you pay for". I have been getting my hair cut by Susan P. for over 12 years. She recently joined the team at Floyds 99 in irvine and I couldn't be more happy for her. For 2 months, everytime I've gone in, they haven't had time for me, quoting me a 2 hour wait. I had called earlier for an appointment and they told me they don't take appointments anymore. Everyone in there is more than qualified to cut hair and do a good, totally acceptable job on it, but when you want a great flat top, ask for Brian. These guys know how to do a flattop! Barber cut way shorter than I asked and went in with clippers and texturizing scissors on my curls. Which I later found out, a barber who knows what they're doing should only use regular scissors for a cut like this because other tools ruin curls. I called the next day to ask for a manager in hopes to get a refund because this mess cost me $50 and supposedly the one who cut my hair was the manager. An even bigger red flag. They said they don't do refunds because the work is already done and I apparently didn't tell him how long I wanted it and "he always asks how long." Which he did not. However I did show him a photo of how long I wanted AND I told him I'd like it to still be long because I wear my hair long. But guess it's my fault somehow. There was nothing they were willing to do for me for their screw up except "fix it" for free. As if I'd let them touch my hair again. So sad.

Her attitude throughout the visit was extremely rude and unprofessional. She used inappropriate language and was very unpleasant to deal with. Unfortunately, the haircut itself was also poorly done. After bringing my boys here for the past seven years, this was by far the worst experience we've ever had. This is not the level of customer service we've come to expect, and it was very upsetting. I hope management addresses this situation so other families don't have the same experience.

I was "injured" the last time I was here. Possible hearing loss. Let me preface that I have been…read morehere a couple times by recommendation of a friend and I really wanted to like this place: cheap haircuts, beats going to Sport Clips etc for $30. I didn't mind any language barriers or that it was cash only. The last time I was here on 6/23 and it will be my last, I got "injured" due to the powerful compressed air they shoot out of a nozzle to clean the clippings off of you. Some reviews here rave about this compressed air they use. I was neutral about that -- they don't use blow dryers. That's ok, whatever gets the job done was fine with me. However. this last time the lady blow this powerful jet of air into my right ear and it hurt, but was fleeting. I didn't think much of it and I didn't complain to her. Even gave her a tip. It's now been more than 2 weeks and this ear has issues: I can hear ringing when the room is quiet, sometimes it hurts, sometimes there's the feeling of pressure. It's hurting now a bit now as I write this. I'm going to see a ear doctor and check if there's hearing loss and whether it's permanent or not. Not sure what to think or what to do about it. Did I deserve it for a coming to cheap haircut place?
