Where do I start? How can I write a review about a place and person that facilitated the best day of my life? I will be reliving my dream wedding for all of eternity and its success was largely due to choosing the perfect venue. Literal perfection. Firstly, the value you get when booking a wedding at Flying Cloud is unmatched. We toured 5 or 6 different venues and Flying Cloud offered the best option by far. They offer coordination day of and for months leading up to the event. This alone was priceless. You NEED day of coordination at a MINIMUM to have a successful wedding and Julia was the best coordinator I could have asked for. We met Julia the first day we toured the venue and over the 10 months of planning met multiple other times and communicated via email/text without issue. Julia provides spreadsheets that keep you on track with planning and that was so helpful! With the price of the venue you also get chairs, tables, umbrellas and countless other items you would otherwise have to purchase or rent. This is a huge value. The space itself is so versatile and there were so many options for ceremony and reception space. My guests raved to me about how the venue was perfect and so beautiful. Everything was clean and well kept. The mature trees and vineyards in the front made for excellent photo backdrops. It was obvious that there is a well oiled wedding machine in place and I benefitted greatly from their experience in event planning. Flying Cloud has an extensive preferred vendor list which at first I thought may be limiting. Let me tell you that vendors don't make it on this list without proven excellence. The only vendor I had an issue with in 10 months of planning was one that was not on the preferred list. I used a DJ, photographer, bakery, florist, officiant and caterer from their list and everything was executed flawlessly. They also handle the rental order for you. We used Heirloom rentals and that was so convenient. We had access to the venue as early as we needed day of, which for me was 8AM. We also had access the day before for rehearsal and to drop off items. I dropped off so much crap (all the florals that I DIY'd, candles and hurricanes, guest favors, polaroid guest books, 2 mirrors, framed photos, potted plants, ladder ball, a ton of alcohol and more. We used 3 cars to take everything) that Julia and her staff had to display and make look good and cohesive, I was amazed how they had time to do it all and never seemed rushed or stressed. Julia also set up a s'mores station and coffee station for us which was awesome! Directly after our ceremony we went back to the bridal suite to sign our marriage license and our signature drinks and appetizers were waiting for us. This is the kind of thoughtfulness that comes with experience and true professionalism! The bridal suite was such a nice space to get ready. It was spacious and Julia had gallons of water waiting for us. There is a refrigerator, a dressing space, lots of natural light, an excellent lighted, mirrored area for hair and makeup artists, a couch, table and chairs. My hair and makeup artists raved about the space. I had 8 people getting ready with me in that space and there was plenty of room. Julia and her team worked their asses off all day for me and I am so grateful! I think she may have secret magical powers. She fielded questions all day, directed vendors, set up the entire space and did so with a smile and while being kind. She made decisions for me when I didn't want to and everything ended up perfect. There is a reason this venue has won many awards. I can't say enough good things. I'd also like to note that time spent at the venue the day before for rehearsal was 1 hour from 9am to 10am Those who may think that having other parties at the venue on the day of their event is intrusive, should consider that they also had to rehearse the day before. There was another event the day after our Saturday wedding and I did not feel anything but excitement for others who are getting to celebrate their event at this amazing venue. Lastly, when planning I appreciated the transparency. I didn't have to jump through hoops to get their pricing and event packages. We spent $9000 for a Saturday in June. Our event ran from 4pm-10pm and I was at the venue to get ready at 8AM. read more

Still dreaming of this place. What a lovely venue. I've had the honor of watching my daughter get married here over the weekend. It's amazing how they can transform this place into something magical and memorable for the couple to make it their own and add their own special touches. Such a beautiful place and the journey starts a couple of miles before reaching Flying Cloud. The drive up with the greenery and awe inspiring beauty that surrounds this place and the hills especially late afternoon as the sun sets low, the peaceful drive up sets the tone for the experience one is about to have here. I've come here a few times to see it as well as the day before for rehearsal and seeing it on the day of the wedding was unbelievable. The place completely transformed into this wonderful fairy tale enchantment that was perfect for the couple. Absolutely a charming place. They transformed this place from the ceremony with the arbor with pretty floral arrangements and rows of chairs with umbrellas to a full dining delight in round tables, linen, flowers and umbrellas. So so special. And at night with the white lights on the trees and the hanging light above the dance floor was just picture perfect! I also should mention the bridal suite is large enough for the bridal party (and then some) with a makeup/hair artist to get ready in. Thank you so much to the staff who worked here that evening, the coordinator here at Flying Cloud and a big thank you to Julia who was wonderful to work with (at rehearsal and day of wedding), so calm and she made sure everything turned out perfectly for the couple's epic day. I came here recently for a wedding and was really impressed by the gorgeous views and cute venue. The courtyard area overlooks grapevines and open space. It is quite stunning at sunset. Inside there is a bar & barrel room, which our couple used for the buffet tables and overflow seating, and then as the dance floor after dinner. The reception area/dining room is pretty small and seats about 50 guests. There were 100 guests at the wedding we attended, so some guests were seated in the reception area, and others were seated in the barrel room. It felt a little disjointed especially since those in the barrel room couldn't see the bride and groom. I'd definitely recommend outdoor seating if over 50 guests, but since this wedding was in November, outdoor seating would have been too cold. This is a great venue for an intimate wedding with a rustic feel. read more

Such an amazing venue! We put on a Halloween costume dance party to help raise funds for a local organization and everyone raved about Flying Cloud. The venue is perfectly Petaluma. It's a horse ranch on a hillside with a beautiful view of area. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful from the start to finish of our event. They even let us use some of their Halloween decorations. We will definitely be reaching out to host more events here in the future. read more

The outdoor space was beautiful with amazing views. Once we saw this venue , we knew we couldn't have it anywhere else. Julia, the owner was so great to work with. She was so nice & so helpful in every way. She helped with the layout , recommended amazing vendors and also helped on the day of the event. She was quick to reply back to any questions. I don't normally write reviews on anything other than food but I am making this exception about my nephew's wedding because it was held at an exceptional venue, 'The Flying Cloud Farm'. It was just held in late April so after all the heavy rainstorms the hills were alive with lush green grass. The venue had well manicured lawns and flowers arranged throughout the courtyard. Also being a former horseman/ cowboy I was pleased to be on a horse farm once again. The event itself was very organized. The outside courtyard provided a quaint outdoor wedding ceremony officiated by my sister. A guitar/Ukulele singer provided the background music for the occasion. Following the ceremony, we were guided indoors to a reception room serving hors d'oeuvres accompanied by cocktails at the bar. We then entered the dining area that displayed a seating chart and there was a long glass panel along one side of the room that provided a view of the massive riding arena. The only thing missing were the white Lipizzaner stallions performing to the music. Note: on each table were wedding favors apparently made by the brides parents from Peru who couldn't be there. They were handmade stitched pouches filled with assorted giveaways from Peru including a shot glass to add to my collection. What a kind generous gesture to show the warmth of the peruvian culture.The food was served buffet style that included chicken, beef, salad, green beans and mashed potatoes. Then came the long wedding speeches, cutting of the wedding cake and then back to the reception area for some dancing music by a DJ. There is not enough great things I can say about the Flying Cloud Farm and Jeanette who runs it. We were planning our wedding from southern California and we really needed a site that was versatile. Jeanette had a plan for all weather conditions; if the grass is wet we could get married in front of the fountain, if it rained we could get married inside. Everything was flexible down to the morning of. Jeanette's list of preferred vendors made planning the wedding much easier. She was honest and open about her experiences and we really picked the "dream team" that made our day so much easier. It was very close to getting a wedding planning service built in. I had no idea what I was doing in the beginning, but as I negotiated contracts and started working with her preferred vendors, it all fell in place. These are not required to book this venue, just a fabulous bonus I took advantage of. Jeanette was communicative throughout the process. There was never any pressure and no questions were left unanswered. Honesty and communication are my top two priorities, and this is exactly what I got. Day of services are included, and I was really able to sit back and enjoy being a bride while everything was taken care of. I didn't have to worry about the DIY touches I had brought along and Jeanette made sure all the personal touches were executed. What a beautiful setting! We attended a wedding event here and it was such a nice venue. It has a nice vantage point and feels "isolated". If you are an equestrian, you would feel right at home. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The grounds are very well maintained as well as the facilities. It is warm and cozy. The only things that I though would be worth mentioning is that it is off the beaten path and parking is somewhat limited for large parties. I would definitely recommend this venue to others. read more

Here's my last out of town review for last weekends wedding I attended. My cousin was married here at "Flying Cloud Farm". It's way off down some boonies backwoods road way out in the middle of nowhere perched up on top of a hill. Wow..... what a perfect place to get married. This was such a cool place. It's literally a working farm, equestrian center, and event center for weddings and such. The staff was excellent keeping the crowd of 80+ people moving where they need to be and keeping things going smoothly. The grounds are surrounded by grape vineyards, rustic trees, flowers, and all sorts of shrubs. You can hear horses and sheep making noises off in the distance. While waiting for the ceremony to begin guests mingled about and enjoyed fresh lemonade, water, and of course, alcohol. The wedding ceremony took place outside on a nice lawn with comfortable chairs, sun blocked by giant umbrellas..ellas... ellas.... eh... eh... eh. After the ceremony we were moved inside while they setup the outside for the meal. Inside was lined with wine barrels topped with candles, appetizers were passed around such as delicious bruchetta and some spicy polenta thingy. May of worked good on paper but the polenta stuck to my fingers so not so good as a finger food. The show stopper was this huge wheel of spreadable cheese that had cream-cheese and blue cheese flavor to it... wow it was great. Besides wine, beer, soda, water, they had a "Bridezilla" martini. Since I was loaded up on dayquil I stuck to diet soda. After about 15 min we were herded back outside for the meal. Each table was excused to get their food. They had tri-tip, salmon, cheese ravioli, Cesar salad, pasta salad, fruit salad, and rolls. They also had what I thought was a giant wheel of brie cheese.... ended up being herb butter which I discovered after taking a huge bite. haha. Food was OK for a wedding, tri-tip was my favorite thing. I didn't try the salmon. After the meal we went back inside where a DJ played music and people danced, mingled, drank, etc, etc. Outside was a huge equestrian center so Donna and I snuck over there and pet some horses which was cool. I give this place 5 stars. It was an excellent place to get married or have a special event. Staff was excellent and it went smooth from beginning to end. read more

What an amazing venue with the best wedding coordinator! I had my wedding here on July 7th, 2017. I will say, the venue is nice and all, but what really sells this place is Jeannette. She is absolutely amazing and made our wedding day stress free where we could enjoy everything! It went seamlessly in my eyes besides a few other things that my mom had to deal with. Flying cloud farm was an incredible venue. The property is beautiful inside and out and very reasonably priced. The venue included a wedding planner, Jeanette Bell. Jeanette was amazing, extremely knowledgeable of the property and what it is capable of. My wife and I got married on 10/20/2013. Being an October wedding we were a little unsure about the weather. Jeanette was prepared for any weather and insured us she had a plan A, B and C for any outcome. Luckily the weather was perfect and we could not have asked for a better wedding. Jeanette made our lives so much easer. We just had our wedding at Flying Cloud this past Saturday, 10/22. I can honestly say that the wedding exceeded my dreams and expectations. We had a long engagement and toured Flying Cloud back in May of 2015. It was the third venue we toured and after seeing it, the last. Jeannette was warm, down to earth and very organized. She had back up plans in case the weather was bad and really made us feel at ease. We agreed as soon as we got in the car, that this was the place for us. We live in Las Vegas, so communication was via email and Jeannette was extremely prompt responding to my questions. As the wedding grew closer, we worked on table set up and linen colors via email as well- I had a pretty specific vision which she captured perfectly. The Friday before the wedding, we were allowed access to the venue for the entire day to set up. We unloaded and stocked the bar then moved to the decor. Really, all we had to do was to unbox all the decor and set it up on two tables. Jeanette came through later to ask where I wanted everything set up outside, and took notes. She then led us through the rehearsal, giving us very specific instructions on what to do when (we needed this!) Saturday was the day. My girls and I arrived at 9am to start hair and makeup. I was so mellow and calm all day that everyone was asking if I was ok. I really was, I knew Jeannette had everything handled. I would pop out of the bridal room every once and a while to see how things were looking and would be at ease seeing everything just how I had pictured it. I think it looked better than if I had done it myself. Jeannette just gets it. The entire day ran so smoothly, if there were any issues, I never knew about them, and I think that it awesome! We went with her preferred vendors which made the day even easier for us as everything went so smoothly. Another thing that we loved about Flying Cloud, is although the wedding was over by 9pm, we didn't have to pack anything up that night. This was a huge relief to us! We left after the wedding and returned at 10am on Sunday. Everything was pretty much packed up for us so all we needed to do was load it up. Long story short, Jeannette is simply amazing. She understood our vision and excuted it to perfection. Weddings are stressful, but not with Jeannette! The entire experience was perfect! My daughter's wedding was going to be at Flying Cloud. 6 months before what was to be the happiest day of her life, her fiancé was tragically killed in an accident ..... as you can imagine she was completely devastated and as a mother I was absolutely heartbroken to see her in such pain. It has taken a lot for us to get through this and I am thankful for the support from family and friends as well as the community. All of the wedding vendors that we had worked with, from the photographer, to the caterer, etc were compassionate and empathetic and immediately expressed their sympathy and under these horrible circumstances ,refunded the deposits that they had taken. All but Flying Cloud who, shockingly, never offered even a partial refund . I am disappointed in their lack of empathy ...especially from a local family run business, under such horrific circumstances . I had my wedding Sunday May 27 and it could not have been more perfect ! The venue was absolutely stunning and everything went so smoothly thanks to Jeanette ! She really makes sure you have no worries on your day and that it all goes perfectly and that it looks amazing! I highly recommend this venue. Best day ever !!! We searched all over the bay area for an affordable place to have a wedding - and were even interested in a Sunday night. Many places charge way too much for rental fees and then restrict you to their meal packages on top of it. While we had looked at hotels and other city locations, both of us really wanted something unique with an outdoor ceremony location and indoor space for later in the evening. After much searching, we finally landed on Flying Cloud. I have to admit that it took us almost two months to visit the venue. The website did not appeal to either of us and we just sort of felt like it could be too "country style" for us hipsters. We were so wrong. Flying Cloud is a lovely space with an outdoor venue overlooking the hills in Petaluma. There is a beautiful spot indoors for dancing and a great rain back up. The owners are very down to earth and are there to help with everything, including coordination. They will allow you to bring in your own wine, which needless to say, saves countless pennies. And, the very best part, you can surprise you guests with a coordinated horse dressage show! In the end, we sadly decided not to go with the Flying Cloud - we had so many guests coming in from the east coast that we ended up in St Helena which would be easier for everyone over a weekend. But, Flying Cloud was definitely in the top of our list and very difficult to let go of. We would both recommend Flying Cloud to anyone looking to thrown a lovely outdoor/ indoor wedding in the bay area on a budget. read more

It's unique, charming, cute (grecian columns and a horse exhibition area) and a l'il upscale without being pretentious. We decided to hold our wedding at Flying Cloud, and our guests *loved* the venue. So many of them asked us, "How did you find the place?" The icing on the cake is the wedding coordinator, Jeannette. She has great attention to detail, is assertive and super-organized and made sure the event ran smoothly. I wanted to have my wedding at a winery, but the prices were outrageous and no where near our budget. When I found flying cloud I was thrilled! The view is spectacular and the inside is gorgeous and totally romantic. Our guests kept raving about the place. The best part is, that it is totally affordable. Prices vary by season, but we couldn't believe that we only paid around $3000 for the place and the staff is supper friendly. I will definately recomend this place to my friends. Don't bother going to a winery unless you've got big bucks. Most of them want $16,000 or more just to rent the place. read more

Jeannette gave suggestions for catering, photography, etc. As my wife and I were planning our own wedding, having Jeannette's guidance was appreciated. Made making all those decisions a bit easier. We got married on a thursday, and the venue price was by far the best we could find in sonoma county. The dining room sits up against a equestrian training area. After visiting many wedding venues in the Napa/Sonoma area it was easy to pick Flying Cloud for our big day. Aside from giving us the warm and fuzzies, the price for the location and services provided was unmatched. It is easily accessible, yet private surrounded by beautiful green rolling hills and expansive blue skies. The majestic horses around are a plus too! You can pick your caterer, provide your own liquor and have ample time to the facility, not to mention having a very experienced day of coordinator included in the contract. Janette, of Flying Cloud is a fabulous resource as well as venue manager/coordinator. She has extensive knowledge of the facility, is very appeasing to decor changes and the like, not to mention extremely professional while remaining calm and collected at all times. She was extremely helpful the entirety of our contract and even captured artful photos of our wedding that helped us in shaping the story of our big day. We had a fabulous experience and would recommend to anyone looking for a beautiful, intimate, and full service venue. Although amazing, as a tip I would recommend photographers have appropriate flash, etc. for a couple indoor areas (bar and barrel room area). read more

We attended a wedding here and had a wonderful time. This is a really beautiful venue. Everything went so smoothly and the space was big enough to spread out but also cozy enough to feel intimate. Our bride and groom needed a specific date, so it left them only 5 weeks to book, plan and prepare. Janette hooked them up with amazing vendors and she was well organized and super helpful. This wedding looked like every detail had been planned months in advance and went off without a hitch. The equestrian aspect was especially thrilling for the children who attended. After lunch, right as the kids were getting fussy, we glanced outside and saw them exercising a horse. It was such a nice break to step outside into the quiet viewing area of the enclosed area. The children were mesmerized, and this mama got to enjoy a glass of wine and a conversation while her little one sat quietly and watched. I definitely would recommend this place to anyone looking for a wedding venue in Sonoma County. read more

My husband and I had the most beautiful wedding at Flying Cloud. The weather was perfect- and the surroundings just gorgeous. We were able to have the beauty of Sonoma County without paying though the nose. The owners were very accommodating and even worked as a day of wedding coordinator. They have great connections with the best caterers, florists, and DJ's locally and gave us very good sound advice. We ended up using Park Avenue catering per their request and were thrilled with the outcome. We also booked a Horse Exhibition and our wedding guests were impressed and enthralled with the beautiful demonstration. I highly recommend this venue. read more

Owner of Flying Cloud Farm lacks compassion and values greed over mercy. She has proven to be heartless and unbelievably thoughtless. There was to be a July wedding. Jan. 2018 the groom was killed from a car accident. The next day the mother of the bride-to-be called to cancel and explained the circumstances. The owner will not refund even a penny of the deposit and was very vocal in email about the fact she had already declared the deposit on last year's taxes and it would be taking money out of her pocket to refund any of the deposit. The bride-to-be is 25. Her life has been so totally devastated. The groom was 28. They had been together 7 years when the death occurred. Sometimes the moral thing to do is be kind and compassionate. Jeanette did an amazing job ensuring our wedding was perfect she managed the day and anticipated all that could go wrong. The venues itself is beautiful and needs little decorating which I loved. Our guest had a great time enjoying the dancing inside, nice outside court yard and bar area for mingling. I would highly recommend this venue to anyone! I had my wedding at the Flying Cloud on 9/10/16, and I committed to having it there on 7/27/16 (they had had a cancellation). Yep, that's right, 6 weeks to plan a wedding with 105 guests! It was a whirlwind, and there's nobody I would have rather done it with than Jeannette. She was incredible. She is so knowledgeable, and her preferred vendor list was extremely helpful. Our meetings were very efficient, and she made the planning as clear and easy for me as possible. She also did a great job of managing the rehearsal and the wedding day. My husband and I got married here on October 16, 2010. When searching for a venue, we had a few ideas in mind. Unfortunately, our ideas left us wondering if it would be something we could afford. We came upon Flying Cloud Farm and made an appointment to scout the location. Our first meeting, we were able to take a tour of the grounds, the garden, the gorgeous Tuscan interior. Upon meeting Jeannette (the owner) my husband and I both felt a warm connection with her. We immediately made up our minds and chose Flying Cloud as our wedding ceremony and reception location. The unique character of the facility is what helped us make up our mind. Jeannette was extremely helpful as we planned our big day. From day one, she was attentive to our needs and was pretty much our planner as we moved on to creating the scenario of our wedding. And the best part, it was within our budget! What also helped out was the packet of preferred vendors she supplied, so that we had some sort of direction when it came to choosing our caterer, DJ, florist, and so on. The actual wedding day could not have been anymore perfect! We have gotten so many compliments on how beautiful the wedding was and we have Flying Cloud Farm to thank for it! Flying Cloud is a beautiful venue perfect for a wine country wedding, and the owners really know how to produce a good wedding. Jeannette did our "day of" coordination, and she was amazing.
