We've had a really good experience with Flying Dutchman. I like how flexible it is. There are some gymnastics programs in Marin that have waiting lists--I'm not into that kind of extracurricular intensity. Flying Dutchman has open enrollment--you can take it one month at a time any time of the year. My younger daughter wanted to try out gymnastics, but also felt hesitant. I don't think there's anywhere else where we could have started in late spring and committed to only one month. And she was having enough fun to carry on until the end of the school year! Classes were fun and inviting. You pay by the month and get unlimited classes, which makes make up classes really easy. My other favorite thing about Flying Dutchman is how clean it is! I had the pleasure of being coached by Dirk for several years as a young, competitive gymnast in Novato. He was not only an incredible coach and mentor, who ran a very organized and safe gym, but he is the person who inspired me to pursue and stick with a career in gymnastics. His coaching style and technique stayed with me for years and left a lasting impression on me as a young gymnast. I now have two daughters of my own, both of whom I often bring to Dirks toddler open gyms. He has that same passion and exuberance for the sport that I remember from so many years ago. I can't say enough wonderful things about the Flying Dutchman team! My daughter has taken classes since she was a year and a half and their summer camp is by far one of her top choices every year. For the toddler set, this is a MUST class both for the value and the confidence it provides them. 2 hours of self-directed play on the equipment is not something you find around here often and nap time is always easy after a session at Flying Dutchman! Once my daughter got older, FDG truly helped my girl shine and build confidence in her skills. update since I'm compelled to respond - Carrie your response is simply not accurate. I wasn't "aggressive, loud and yelling, and I didn't say I knew the owner. I reminded you that when we first signed up with you, the owner was there as well. You seemed to get upset, told me you had never met me, and your staff called me a liar ... which is comical. All the pictures we have of our daughter in the facility indicate we have been there multiple times, which according to you meant we signed a waiver... otherwise our 3yr old somehow breached your high security and record-keeping. This gym is large, clean and open and has tons of options for kids of all ages. We attended a few open gyms and both of my kids (2 and 4) had so much fun. We enjoyed it so much that we signed our 4-year-old up for a weekly gymnastics class and he looks forward to it every week. He is learning skills like teamwork, discipline, and listening to others that he hasn't gotten from other activities that we've signed him up for. Best part of all - all of the equipment is so clean. They take care in maintaining the gym equipment and have gotten new items since we started classes there a few months ago. Additionally, the staff is very welcoming. But acts like she's doing you a favor , I went back a second time just giving it a second chance, but she was even worse. Will not be going back drop off was $25. Hi Neighbors- We have been coming to gymnastics for 3 years now (maybe longer) and my son just loves it! Coach Durc and Coach Carrie are the best. Very organized but still really fun for the kids. Juan's (San Anselmo Rec) was fun when my kids were really little but it is so chaotic and dirty. Flying dutchman is super organized and safe and really clean. They have a drop in on Saturdays. Drop off your kids- go get a latte or spend an hour with your partner sans kids. Super easy and your kids will love it! Seriously- they are the best! read more

I cannot express how great this gymnastics class/program is! My daughter had been coming here for at least two years, every week, and loves how fun AND serious it is. It's just the right balance of being a very real and serious gymnastics program, and super fun with room for goofiness and for every kid to be themselves. My daughter's skills have improved so much over time, she's not wanting to be a gymnast but at this rate she could if she really wanted to! I love both of the coaches, they make a great team, and the kids are always smiling and working hard. It's amazing how much the kids learn, how much they do each week, so many skills! I have been taking my daughter to these classes since they began in January and could not be happier. The two coaches know how to work with young children to keep them engaged and enthusiastic throughout the practice.
