Lots of pieces to build with!
    Deepa R.

Our daughter was invited to a birthday party at Play-well this past weekend. This was the first time we had been there. First of all, there is ample parking around the area--which is great because it is always hard to find parking in San Anselmo. The space itself is huge! Lots of space for a lot of kids. They have a two large rooms. The first room is separated into a regular, drop-in space that has tables and boxes of legos that are ready to be built, and a separate section for toddlers with large duplo-style legos. The second room is a large party area which has space for tables and chairs and quite a few kids! The whole party was from 10-12, with lego time from 10-11:30 and half an hour for cake and pizza. The lego building time was organized really well. The young man working with the kids was very engaging and he was able to keep their attention for the entire time. They were able to do three separate projects. First they had time to build whatever they wanted. Next they built cars that they were able to battle each other with and finally they built their own little lego-bots that walked around! All in all, a lot of fun for the kids. You can also drop in on any given day for an hour of building (which costs $10), so this is a great place to have a play date as well. OF course, they have lots of different sets available for purchase, as well as a whole section of individual pieces for sale. Definitely check this place out!

Leading the Star Wars car building..,

Lego store meets kids party venue. Went here for a birthday party for my 5 year old. At first it looks like a Lego store, but it's so much more (rhyme accidental). Well, it IS a Lego store with two large rooms of Lego sets lining the walls. They sell the Legos at retail prices so it isn't cheap. The biggest room is the party venue where there are bins upon bins of loose Legos that children (and adults) can sit on the ground and construct whatever they want. It was quite a bit more fun than I was expecting. After about 20 minutes of freely building from the bins, the staff of the store gathered all of the children around in a semi circle and walked them through how to build simple 'Star Wars' car. In reality it was just a box with wheels so the kids could have something to play with. We set up ramps and jumps for the cars. The kids did that for about 30 minutes before they brought the cake out. The staff was great at setting the place up, leading the activities, giving directions to the kids, and (my favorite) cleaning up when we're done. Good place to throw a 5 year olds birthday party. Not sure about the prices. Have also heard its a great place to go on those too infrequent rainy days.

The second of two big playrooms at Play-well! Walls and walls of bricks. As a former LEGO maniac myself, I was blown away.

She will ask questions you didn't even think about! Based on my specific experience, it was generally stellar but a few marks were missed at the beginning of the big day. Without an assistant, she was fully occupied with setting up decor downstairs so the prime management of multiple hand-offs, dealing with vendors arriving at once, crossing off key happenings on the timeline was not entirely covered. Otherwise, the wedding would of been near perfect. At the end of the day, she genuinely cares about her brides and works hard to make your dreams come to life.

We met a few times in the months leading up to check in about my plans and for her to offer suggestions and guidance. All her recommendations were excellent, from timeline details to referring other vendors. She knows the Outdoor Art Club (a historic building) inside and out, so I was able to relax completely and not worry about their rules and requirements at all, trusting that Stacey had it covered. I made things more complicated by having our ceremony at a nearby park instead of OAC, but even with that added everything went absolutely perfectly. She also did an excellent job setting up all the decorations to make the room look gorgeous, and packing it all up for us at the end of the night, including a mail order Photo Booth that had to be packed just right back in its original box. She also had a number of decorations we could use (frames for signage, a card box, some candles, candelabras and votives, blankets for the ceremony) that were incredibly helpful. She had all the logistics and details covered, letting us and our families just enjoy the night and float through each different part without any worries! As the bride, I didn't think about anything but celebrating all night, and that is all thanks to Stacey's expertise. She also did our save the dates and invitations, as well as much of the signage for the wedding itself, and they were all beautiful. She really went above and beyond, including finding a specific font and actually creating some design elements herself that fit my vision, and I'm so appreciative!

Just one week ago I had made a reservation for glassware for a small event. I chose Celebrations due to their quick response time as well as their pricing structure. I was also happy to pick up the items knowing that I would save $150 on the delivery fee. I was informed via email that I could pick up on Thursday or Friday between 9am to 2pm, so I drove about 25 minutes to Novato today (Thursday) and arrived around 9:30am. Upon arrival, I noticed the door states "by appointment only". I'm a little caught off guard because this was never stated to me, but I thought maybe it didn't pertain to me since the email communication I had received the week prior stated that I could pick up today. I called the number on the door, and Kim stated that my order was not ready and that she was not in the office today either. I would have to come back again tomorrow to pick up the items, and that they would be ready anytime between 9am-2pm. Kim seemed irritated on the phone, but I'm the customer who was told I could pick up today. She did say she could deliver tomorrow, but I'm not trying to spend $150. I wasn't upset or yelling, just asking for clarification about when I could pick up the items. Maybe she's dealing with something outside of work, but bringing that to me was uncalled for when I was only following the pickup instructions she provided me. Anyway, just wanted to share my intial impression after their misstatement about the pickup window. Hoping for a smooth pickup tomorrow!

I recently had the absolute pleasure of working alongside Andrea for an extravagant, Wicked-themed birthday celebration at the Grand Bay Hotel in San Francisco. As a DJ, I've been part of my fair share of complex productions--but this event? This one had layers. We're talking immersive design, multiple performances, theatrical moments, choreographed timing, lighting cues, and the kind of attention to detail that would make Broadway stage managers sweat. And yet--through every twist, change, last-minute curveball, and behind-the-scenes chaos--Andrea stayed calm, composed, and genuinely joyful. That smile never left her face. It wasn't just impressive; it was inspiring. What struck me most was Andrea's emotional intelligence and natural leadership. She wasn't just checking off a list--she was reading the room, checking in on vendors, comforting the family, and still had the foresight to ensure every beat of the evening landed with intention. For us as DJs, a successful event relies heavily on the planner's clarity, timing, and communication. Andrea excelled at all three. Her cues were crystal clear, her flexibility never compromised the bigger picture, and her collaboration felt seamless. It's rare to find someone who can hold both the creative and logistical sides of event production in perfect harmony. Andrea is that rare gem. And beyond the work, there's a real human connection there--a warmth that draws people in, makes vendors want to go above and beyond, and creates the kind of synergy that guests can feel, even if they don't see it. After this event, I'm not only grateful--I'm inspired. I genuinely hope to work with Andrea and Mia Emma Love Events more in the future. I believe that if we continue to collaborate, we could create experiences that are unforgettable, meaningful, and consistently next-level. Andrea, thank you for the trust, the kindness, the professionalism, and for being exactly the kind of event partner every creative hopes for. I've been to many Playland's in the greater Bay Area…read moreand I have to be brutally honest, this Playland in Sausalito, California is by far the worst. I traveled all the way to Playland Sausalito from the South Bay with my 5 year old son for my cousins 5 year old son's birthday party. Upon exiting and making a left her and a left there I found myself driving through an old, dusty, shoddy, dirt road, with barrack style bungalows up into an old, spooky gymnasium. I'm assuming they're using 'Playland' in the school's old gymnasium. Is the school still open? I do not know, but from the looks of it, I doubt it. Just looked run down and unkept to be actually open on a day-to-day basis. I'm giving Playland Sausalito a 1 star review because mostly everyone from my cousins party ended up catching either the flu or some variation of the stomach bug that's been going on. Depending on if you were an adult or a child that kind of dictated your symptoms. After calling and asking around if anyone else from the party got sick I was not surprised to hear that, yes other people in attendance got sick. In addition to getting sick, the overall venue was kind of run down and seemed like it's on it's last leg. A few inflatables, a few balls to kick around, 2 pop-a-shot basketball hoops (one didn't work), and a cold gloomy atmosphere. Nice! I understand what Playland Sausalito is trying to do in terms of providing a safe fun-filled place for children to have parties and hang out with friends and family but if children and adults are getting sick than that's defeating the purpose. Maybe it was a one time thing or others have gotten sick at this establishment but I think lack of attention to detail, sanitary practices, and overall kind of just a dingy, ordinary, throw a few balls and inflatables in here and call it a 'Playland' is lame and dangerous. Also, when I called Playland to ask a question as to if they are open or not? (says they are closed on Yelp unless it's a private party), the guy that answered the phone said "Hello".. LoL, not "Thank you for calling Playland how can I help you" so I had to ask the guy "Is this Playland?". Not professional dude. In hindsight, as I was oblivious of what was to come the days after the party, I made a comment to my cousin that they were having another party right after us and I didn't see them doing any kind of sanitary wipe downs or anything. Yikes! In conclusion, I probably won't be coming back again and if you were thinking on planning a party for your little one here, I'd look around some more for I'm sure there are other venues that offer more bang for your buck. Do I recommend, No.
