If you're looking for the best gymnastics and ninja gym for boys in Marin, GymWorld is absolutely worth checking out. Our kids have tried a lot of sports and activities, but this is the one they constantly ask to go back to. The facility is impressive -- giant trampolines, ninja courses, tumble tracks, ropes, foam pits, and gymnastics equipment everywhere. It's the perfect environment for active kids who need movement and physical challenges. Even after a full class, my boys still don't want to leave. The staff is fantastic with children and somehow manages to balance fun with real skill-building. We've seen major improvements in confidence, listening skills, coordination, and strength. My daughter went to Gym World when she was under 10 and her rude coach told her to quit because she wasn't flexible enough. At such a young age it is sad to see staff hired who don't know how to uplift and encourage children. This review is for the open gyms! We have been taking our two kids to the Sunday morning open gym from 9 to 11 AM and it has been super fun and great for them! Very large space in a warehouse with trampolines, uneven bars, balance beams, and fun obstacle courses for little kids. Both my six-year-old and one and a half-year-old have a great time. Open gym means there is not instruction so my husband and I like to work on different tricks with the kids directly and play with them. read more

Lordes and all the coaches are amazing here, my daughter has been going to camps, birthdays, classes here since she was about 4 years old, and now 7 and she loves it. It's affordable and a ton of space, and there's an area where you can work from if you want too. It's also down near Target and there's a funky coffee shop that's down the street if you need to work somewhere else or quickly get some errands in. My daughter goes to another gymnastics facility for some more advanced classes, but she built her foundation here, there's no doubt about it and still loves going to camp here. They also are on sync with the public school system breaks which is awesome, we've sent her to camp for the week ahead of Xmas when we still have work, but school is out, and usually do 2 weeks of the summer camp. My daughter has been attending Gymworld for a year now after a stint in summer camp there. We're moving North, so I'm afraid we're going to retire from Gymworld, but I want to write some parting words. My daughter improved tremendously while taking gymnastics at Gymworld. Lordes, was very supportive of her and encouraged her advancement. I always worked on my computer from the loft overlooking the space. I got a terrific sense of how the other coaches taught and Gymworld's philosophy. All of the coaches take their instruction seriously, even the younger teachers. They are not, however, pushing the kids to do things they can't do. Safety is clearly a priority. My daughter feels the equipment is the best part. She thinks that it's a very professional set-up. Communication with the gym was always easy and the front desk staff (Ellen) was accessible and friendly. Ellen answered any question I had and was very accommodating. Fun birthday party! The coach was great with the kids. It was a large group and she appropriately enlisted the adults in helping at key spots to control the flow and prevent injury. The kids had a great time. They were sweaty and exhausted after play. The upstairs party space is small and congested, so if you have a really big party you may want to limit to one parent or even drop off for older kids. It also gets really hot up there so dress accordingly. Parking was easy on the weekend. I live too far to come back for play, am glad we got to try it out! read more

My daughter has been at 4 gyms though traveling. This one seemed ok until they dropped my daughter twice while the coach was on her cell phone and not spotting her. Gymworld has lost two coaches. My son had a blast here attending one of his classmate's b day party. It was a small group (less than 8 kids) and the coach wasn't overwhelmed. She was patient with the kids but lack some of enthusiasm, it's all mechanical for her, no smile but did her best to made sure the kids had fun. Overall a great time here. Very satisfied with this facility! My daughter has progressed so rapidly compared to the previous place she used to go to. At Gym World children get trained by a head coach mostly not junior coaches. This matters a lot since I can tell the difference as I used to be a gymnast myself. The place is always clean and organized. We enrolled our 2 daughters at Gymworld when we moved to Marin from the South Bay. Best part and decision made about our move. I cant recommend this gym enough! We love every one here. From the moment you walk into the door, you are greeted by Ellen and her sweet, kind smile. She is a blessing to this Gym. You are able to watch all the gymnasts and coaches from the upstairs that is provided for adults and spectators. Lourdes, and Victoria, the amazing, talented, passionate, owners, and the most down to earth and amazing souls in Marin! Their passion for the sport, and their hearts, are what make them stand apart from the sometimes pretentious side of Marin! With that said, I feel every coach has the same uniqueness and heart as the rest of the staff. These coaches are real, down to earth, caring individuals who praise, teach, and encourage your child from their heart. Coach Stephanie, Coach Shauna, and Coach Kyla, are so special too my girls and me, since they all have coached our girls and became a part of our lives, and hearts, and truly what I would consider family. Relationships and community are HUGE to me and matter alot too me and my life, as I raise my girls in this world that sometimes can seem and be so harsh and leave you with a feeling of disconnect. OVERALL: Happy with this gym so far. My 8 y/o daughter and my 4.5 y/o have been attending about a month. There's a good mix of coaching styles, from the strict/serious to the gentle/encouraging - I like the variety and think the kids benefit from BOTH. My sense after this short while is that it's overall a good/safe environment in which to learn gymnastics. STAFF: I appreciate that Victoria and Lourdes have been very accommodating with regards to scheduling make-up days due to sickness. Shauna has been especially patient and good at instructing my 4 y/o wanna-be gymnast, who is a little young to always listen to verbal instructions and sometimes gets distracted and misses the demonstration(s). I really feel like she is watching out for my daughter; who loves gymnastics and is learning very quickly. I think Elyse (?) and another coach named Denise (I think??) are very knowledgeable about the body and it shows in their coaching method. One very young coach - I don't know her name - seems a bit hands-off (isn't as quick to offer a spot for kids who seem to need it more often). But that seems to be the exception, not the rule and may be due to the high number of kids/inability to spot everyone. Maybe this only applies to me, since my child is one of the youngest girls there. My 8 y/o doesn't have a problem asking for help if she needs it. FACILITY: It's also a very clean gym - brand new - with nice equipment. I visited MEGA and thought it was kind of gross (smelly) and tired-looking. I do think it's expensive, but gymnastics can be a costly sport and really the gym is beautiful and fabulous equipment is not aged. I can't say I did any price shopping to see how it compares to other local gyms - I imagine it's competitive...? Love how there's a foam pit, trapeze, cargo net, various trampolines, mats, a climbing wall, and rings in addition to the usual vault, uneven bars, high/low/floor beams. Wish my gym had all this great stuff when I was a kid. :) SUMMARY: If there's one thing keeping me from giving it "5 stars" (aside from cost), it's that it seems to be a very popular gym and can get crowded/hectic, with lots of little kids (mostly girls, btw) running around. I'm nervous that heads will clunk. It's been especially nice the last 2 visits as many are away for the holidays and the gym is more quiet than usual! UPDATE: This place is getting busy - quality of instruction varies. I don't think this is the best gym for my younger daughter who cannot follow instructions as well. (It's great for my older child.) I don't think the answer is the private lesson they suggest ($50/session) to get her up to speed - the reason they she isn't learning more readily is that she is a bit too young/immature, coupled with lack of instructor attention. I think it's silly when they set up multiple "stations" for the little ones to rotate through. Most of them need a spot for each station (impossible, given class size) and they cannot recall what you just told them, let alone what they are supposed to be doing in each of the 4-6 stations. It's a constant chorus of "what am I supposed to be doing here?" and "can you help me?" read more

The owners Victoria Yelensky and Lourdes Esquivel are former members of the national teams in their respective countries (Ukraine and Mexico). We came here for our friend's kid's birthday party. The placed appeared to be nice and inviting, but the worker there was so impatient, rude to the parents, and the children. Children are a handful. I'm not sure why she's employed there if she doesn't have patience for kids. After the party was over, she sped off so fast in the parking lot, which aggravated parents because there were toddlers and little kids walking back to their cars. After reading some reviews, this place seems pretty decent. Maybe she's just a bad seed or having a really bad day. read more

We came as guests for my son's friends' birthday at the beginning of the school year. Our birthday coach was fantastic (I think her name was Karen??). She had such great energy, the kids loved her, and even remembered all their names within the hour! Several of us were very impressed with her professional personality and skills with the kids. If you book here, make sure to request her as I've seen some negative comments about other birthday coaches. Overall great space and service! A little difficult to find, but the gym itself is very neat and pleasant with lots of mats and colors for the kids.
