I can't say enough good things about this place. We've been here since my son was 11 months old and can't imagine going anywhere else. They teach water safety in a fun and age appropriate manner. My son looks forward to this class every week, and so do I. All of the coaches are amazing, we especially love Anya, Niko, Cristina, and Emily. Flying Fish Swim Academy has been effective, professional and fun for our kiddos. Within a few classes they had our youngest able to go across the width of the pool without flotation devices. After a few more classes he was able to swim the length of the pool. Their format is very organized and the instructors have no more than three students each session. We don't have to waste time with signing up for one class and waiting weeks before they can start the next level - even if they're already ready to advance. Instead, Flying Fish has specific goals for each level and each class your child can advance to the next level. Skill updates are provided by email by the Deck Leader during class as each child completes their skill. The instructors will likely be different for each class and they all do a nice job with the kids and follow the same routine. The facility is nice with large observation windows and plenty of chairs to watch outside the pool area. There are also a few elevated tables/chairs and guest Wi-Fi. There is a play area for little siblings to stay occupied or for some playtime before class starts. Showers, changing rooms and restrooms are available for families making it easier to get multiple kids cleaned up and dressed after class. A swimsuit dryer is available so you can spin their suits and not take them home sopping wet. Swim accessories are available for purchase - goggles, swim diapers, swim caps, etc. in case you need something quick. Sadly, we went here hoping for a better experience than our local swim school. However, this place is the same as Nitro. My daughter and I were involved in a car accident which was not our fault -large dog suddenly ran in front of our car- while on the way to swim class. The swim school refused to allow us a makeup because we had a makeup earlier in the month for medical purposes. Half of their classes are not full and they still refuse makeups for even the most traumatic experience such as a car accident or illnesses so severe they require bloodwork. I'm not sure what the answer is but if you're switching here because you don't agree with Nitro, you will be treated the same. read more

Moms and dads: Be picky about who you allow to care for your child in the pool. It is your prerogative as their parent. If your gut instinct is off about a certain coach, say something. If you get shut down by the business owner for saying something, then leave. That's what we did. There are plenty other places for our kids to do swim classes, and that's all I'm going to say about that. read more

This place is so amazing! The coaches (especially Coach Gabby!) are all incredible and both of my children love their coaches. Owner/Coach Aaron is kind and always willing to chat. He takes time to make sure parents understand and are comfortable with everything happening. This is a great place for swim lessons for kids. I took my 4-year-old here for weekly lessons, and also enrolled my 7- and 9-year-olds in the "intensives" during the summer. The instructors are all great with kids and make sure that everybody is having fun and being safe. The staff is friendly and flexible and I've never felt any pressure to buy more lessons than I was comfortable with. I feel incredibly lucky to have found Flying Fish Academy. My husband and I are deeply grateful to owner and coach Aaron Bond for his positivity, patience and expertise. We have a 7 yr old who is typically developing and a 5 yr old with a complex digestive disease. They were both afraid of the water, but Aaron has them LOVING lessons and progressing swiftly. We tried two other swim schools, but our kids have come further faster at Flying Fish AND they look forward to lessons! I want to add that this is the cleanest, calmest most beautiful swim facility I've ever been in. It's brand new and the pool has state of the art UV sanitization. (We did some research on their system due to our son's compromised immune system) I found that the pool's chlorine residual is effective in removing the virus that causes COVID-19, but their Evoqua UV system adds 99.99% every pass, so it is the best protection you can get. Every swim lesson ends with my son saying, "that was awesome!!!". My two boys love learning to swim here. The coaches are all attentive and Coach Aaron is the perfect role model for his instructors - kids love him, he's encouraging, smiling and playful with the kids. When you walk into Flying Fish you'll immediately discover that this place was built with the sole purpose of teaching your kids to swim. My boys are 3 and 6 and they are progressing very quickly. What an amazing school and staff! My twins started here in the summer after some sub par lessons at YMCA and the City of Austin. From day 1, we have noticed a stark difference in the teaching styles at Flying Fish vs other schools. The student to teacher ratio is perfect for a 30 min class, the recheduling feature for 1 missed class takes is so helpful for frazzled parents who have to deal with last minute sicknesses! I have seen the owner himself coaching kids and all coaches are so kind, friendly and have a wonderful attitude. The coaches are so engaged - with high fives and the cheering, that the kids love to go back! I also love the excellent portal which updates instantly, the supremely helpful website, which answers every single question you may have on the schedules and pricing, the well designed viewing space and bathrooms, I could go on and on! The icing on the cake was when I had called today to deal with my kid's broken wrist related class scheduling and the person who answered the phone was able to help me in mere minutes. We are so excited to attend Flying Fish for our son's swim training! It well is worth our drive from Lakeway to get the results that we have seen in our son! Coach Aaron has been a miracle worker with our son. In a year he has progressed in ability from just doggy paddling to a competitive swimmer competent in the four key swim strokes. I have been procrastinating swimming lessons for my three year old and as soon as we walked into The Flying Fish Swim Academy I knew we would be signing up. This place is extremely clean, warm (literally!) and welcoming. The owner, Aaron, and Coach Anya could not be any kinder and just made me, and most importantly my daughter! at ease! Coach Aaron is incredible. He is so great with kids and keeps them focused and engaged the entire time. I've always heard negative things about other swim schools because of the amount of or lack of time that the kids actually swim during their 30 mins lesson. Well, this is not the case at flying fish academy! The classes are small so each child gets plenty of swim time. All the staff is great and very qualified to coach, teach and engage with your child. I am completely confident with my son in our pool now and I owe it all to Coach Aaron! Not to mention the best words to her from my son are "I love swim lessons" and "can I have a lesson today?" My family loves Coach Aaron and Flying Fish. We first met Aaron about 5 years ago at another swim program. From the beginning, my oldest son loved learning from Coach Aaron. Aaron perfectly balances excellent swim instruction, while also making it soooo fun. Kids learn better and faster when they are having fun, and Aaron and Flying Fish does this perfectly. Over the years, my oldest has gone from not wanting to put his face in the water, to a gold level swim team member. From water safety, to the basics of a stroke, to fine tuning details, Aaron is our go to swim guru. My younger 2 kids have also been swimming with Aaron on and off for about a year, and they too love swim lessons with Coach Aaron. When Aaron told me he was building his own swim academy, Flying Fish, I knew we would follow. For us, the skill, enthusiasm, and love that Aaron gives to the kids he works with, is invaluable. He is a phenomenal swim coach -- he is passionate about teaching and highly creative in customizing his approach to the unique needs and preferences of his students. One of my children loved the water, another child was much more hesitant. Coach Aaron quickly figured out what each would respond to, with both kids absolutely loving their lessons and requesting to keep it up long after they were certified in basic swimming. I have no doubt his patience, compassion and capacity to have fun while still being effective will be the foundation on which Flying Fish is built. I am so looking forward to the Flying Fish Swim Academy opening up in Dripping Springs! Coach Aaron taught both of our boys' swim lessons over this past summer. What should have taken our oldest son 1-2 summers to learn basic swimming techniques, took us years due to his fear of being under the water (past swim lesson experience). And by the end of it all, he was still fearful of floating on his back. Our youngest son, who has never demonstrated a fight or flight response in water and has no fear, made our pool time very stressful as we constantly had the fear of him drowning. Last summer, I was on the hunt for a "new" swim coach to help us navigate both of our children's different levels of experience. I met a sweet and helpful lifeguard at the community pool during a birthday party. She began telling me about Coach Aaron and it didn't take me long to decide he was exactly what we needed. He was very quick to get back with us and went above and beyond to make it convenient for the boys and myself. He exceeded every expectation of a great swim coach. He was patient, kind, and very understanding of my oldest son's fears and knew where to start with our youngest son's no fear personality. Did I mention patient...such an important characteristic of swim coaches. He made swimming fun and was super creative in every lesson. In the 1st session, he had the oldest on his back, the youngest swimming, and discussed safety during the session vs taking 5-10 min of each 30 min session to only discuss safety. My boys felt so comfortable and I felt a huge weight off my shoulders. We completed sessions for the remaining of the summer and by the end of the summer, the oldest was swimming the length of the pool on his back (with help from Aaron due to distance) and had learned additional swim strokes. The youngest was swimming under water at various distances to Coach Aaron. They are looking forward to continued swim lessons once the Flying Fish has opened its doors. As a side note...the boys love him so much that they hug him in the grocery store and want to "visit him at home." We are grateful to have him and the Flying Fish in our great community. read more
