Flying j travel center located in hope hull Alabama about 90 min outside of Birmingham Alabama. My family and i our on a family vacation from Louisville to Destin Florida and we stopped the previous night in Birmingham for a layover. So this morning when finishing our trip we stopped at this location for some gas and snacks. Decent sized location that seemed to be mildly clean. Pricing seemed on par with other gas Stations I've been too. It was pretty crowded but they worked the line really well. Overall it met our basic needs for gas, bathroom facilities and snacks. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! I walked in to pay for gas. I had to ask the woman three times if I could prepay for gas. Because her PERSONAL PHONE CALL was more important than helping me the CUSTOMER. Stopped for gas and the first pump wouldn't read cards. Noticed woman at another pump seemed to also be having issues,too. Pulled to another pump; it wouldn't read two different cards. Cashier said we could prepay an exact amount or leave the credit card at the counter while we gassed up for the exact amount. Super busy, long line, no apology for issues. No thanks, went back to car and drove across the street to another station. read more

Most FJ's are staffed with friendly folks. Not this one. Not one single employee smiled, not one could be bothered to engage. When asked a question it seemed an inconvenience to assist. The corporate website says that they have bulk propane. I stopped at a previous location that had propane, but no one to pump it. I understand that they have to have a licensed employee to pump it. To be proactive I called this location and specifically asked if they had someone to pump propane that afternoon or evening. I was told yes. When I arrived at the location, they said that the state has shut down their propane and they haven't had it for a long time. A woman who appear to be some sort of manager, told me that they don't have built propane. I asked why they would tell me they did on the phone, and as a result I drove 30 miles to their location. She copped an attitude and said they were like everybody else in the country and most of their employees had only worked there for a day. I'm at a loss. read more

Clean restrooms, plentiful gas pumps, and coffee strong enough to be worth drinking. This is a good travel stop.

The best part about stopping here is that the bathroom is large and you can take a pee without waiting 5 minutes. Notice that I don't cite the cleanliness of the bathroom, because it usually isn't in that condition. It isn't normally outright nasty, but it is subpar and in need of a good cleaning. That's a shame, because 20 years ago when I owned and drove a truck cross-country, Flying J was always meticulously clean. No more. You can grab a fried burrito or a slice of pizza from the cash register counter. There're one or three soups at the hot bar (because attending to this thing is **hard** and sometimes stuff just runs out). You can get various varieties of hot dog-shaped stuff on a bun. This right here is why I stop. Nothing is particularly healthy, but none of it takes 20 minutes to get and none of it costs much. I like that. There are a lot of fuel pumps, but they are always full or nearly full. Gas is no longer much less expensive than other sources along this stretch. The only benefit of stopping here is an easy pee and unhealthy quick road food. But...good enough for me. read more

If you want fly infested Cinnabon and bathrooms please stop by. Staff needs some customer service training . Btw, you have to heat up your own cinnamon rolls and you don't get a fresh one that is if you ever get acknowledged at the counter. Sad, just keep driving. read more

This flying J was really nice. They actually had pizza that's hard to find in flying J's in pilots. The facility including the restrooms where clean. This can be hard to find at the off brand truck stops. This flying J was easy to get in and out. I would recommend this to any other truck driver. read more

This Flying J is one of our alternate stopping off, taking a break, getting gas waypoints on our trips to Florida. It's pretty much a standard-grade Convenience stop. Gas prices are always fair. Service is friendly. The Denny's adjacent is ok and not normally too crowded. Snacks, drinks, good coffee (big plus) souvenirs and the imported gadgets you find at truck stops. read more

Always enjoy stopping here when headed to Louisiana or coming back to Georgia. They have very clean restroom every time I have stopped. I stop here on almost every trip between Birmingham and Mobile. The gas prices are relatively low, the bathrooms are clean, and there is a Denny's attached to it for those times when a simple grab and go snack just isn't enough! We started making this a regular stop because of the nice grassy area to walk our dog when she needs to stretch her legs. The convenience store has a lot of snacks and drinks and the fountain drink station is rather large. Being a truck stop they have lots of car maintenance supplies and other cool stuff I will never need. Another plus is that they have plenty of window washing sponges with big buckets of cleaning solution. They have fresh baked Cinnabon rolls! I haven't had one yet but it is on my to do list. Make this your regular stop too...just don't get distracted and extend your trip too long! read more

I always like stopping by Flying J because of the friendly service and competitive fuel prices. I like the convenience of being able to stop in one place and fill up your car then your stomach when you are on a long trip in a car. The bathrooms here were spacious and clean and they had plenty of facilities for truckers although not being a trucker myself I can't really give a good review of those in my opinion. read more

We visit a lot of Flying J's, still don't like their paid wi-fi, even if you do pay it often drops simple pages and forget streaming. This particular location seemed to lack some of the stock you might expect in a truckstop, luckily they had what we needed this time (except for ear plugs). They also could do something about the poor feral cats that surround the lot that seem to be a result of travelers either losing a pet or discarding a pet. read more
