We stopped by here while trying out different wineries in the area as first timers visiting here. This was one of the larger ones we visited and it had a really nice set up with both the liquor tasting area as well as the main wine tasting area. We unfortunately weren't able to do the liquor tasting but we did get to do the wine tasting and thought it was fairly well priced considering how many different ones you try and the sample size along with the fact you also get to keep a wine glass. They had knowledgeable staff that help you with each tasting and provide you with information on the wine itself and makes it easier for you to have a better idea if you'd like to take a bottle home. You can also use your wine tasting purchase price towards a bottle discount as well which makes it easier to take home a bottle of your favorite. Since we got here near closing time we wish we would have been able to come in earlier and enjoy more of the grounds as it is really nice inside and out. We hope to be back soon to see what's new and bring a bigger group next time! @wanderingwithustwo https://beacons.ai/wanderingwithustwo

Wine Country Rye

Flying leap is fantastic! Went for the wine and found they have spirits... I'm a whiskey guy (mostly bourbon) and fell in love with the Wine Country Rye, it's some of the best rye I've had. Try it all, I'm sure you'll find something you'll love too.

Gotta try the habenaro chili infused wine

Great stop in AZ wine country! Very good wine sommelier! Bring own your wine glass for a discount

The winery next door was not doing tastings so decided to try it out. If you love spirits then you must stop by the Flying Leaps Distillery (if you don't they do have a wine tasting room). Karen was so knowledgeable explaining the different history and flavor nuances of rye, bourbon, brandy while handling different customers coming at different times.

A warm welcome, tasty wines, crackers AND chocolate! M and I walked in to Flying leap and were warmly welcomed by Rachel, our tasting room hostess. She seemed to enjoy her job and was enthusiastic about the wines the offer. She explained that this new winery was started by three retired airmen, hence the name! The varieties served on this particular day were quite good, my favorite of the day being the Grenache Noir. The tasting room is small but beautiful with local art adorning the walls. I could spend a decent amount of time at Flying Leap.

Always friendly, and ever experimenting. Their Union Red may be the most interesting red coming out of Arizona. Perfect for carne asada A must visit in Sonoita

Possibly the only good wine you will find in AZ. Wine was yummy just a little pricey. The property was nice with a wine bottle tree and all!

The short version of this review is this: good wine, good vibes, and you can fly kites here!…read more My husband and I visited flying kite vineyard this past weekend and I knew I wanted to leave it a review! We had a genuinely good time here. This vineyard is owned by a husband and wife who grew their own grapes for 15 years (selling to other local wineries) before deciding to make their own wine. I do feel that this experience of growing grapes has lent them the knowledge of what makes a good wine. We both did the tasting and enjoyed all of the wines; we even got an extra glass and bought a bottle to take home. Flying Kite has great vibe - we felt like we were hanging out at a friend's house. The owners were incredibly friendly and the way they chatted with us felt genuine. There were a few groups of people there, smiles well around. As the name of the vineyard states, there is also kite flying here! The owners have a bunch of kites available for anyone to use. It was so much fun flying kites while drinking wine - truly a novel experience! I would also like to note here the attention to detail in how they constructed this tasting room/patio - given how windy sonoita/elgin gets during the day, the owners were conscious of which direction the wind typically blows and therefore, they built the tasting patio so that you are completely blocked from the wind. This might seem like a minor detail but when you've been out in the wind all day, it is so nice to get a break from it. I just really appreciated this as I felt it was very thoughtful. Overall, I would say that flying kite is one of my favorite vineyards in this area. I would absolutely come back here again!
