Toys for, not only for boys…read more Just White Toy Shop on the top level of the QVB in Sydney is a mountain of great quality toys not just for kids either. It's a crowded carnival of boxes, sounds and ambient memories from toys come to life. Many of you may not even recall how amazing recreated wind up robots, cars, tanks, people can take you back to a place where only your memories are. It's a tight fitting space and if it gets crowded, which it does you have to be careful not to knock toys of their shelves (not knock off as in steal people). There is something here for every occasion. My boys love just exploring the shelves and screaming in excitement whenever they discover some item of curiosity. Look I'm a big fan of branded products and enjoy watching my lovely boys interact between the movies, books, and activities of branded merchandise, however at Just White Toy Shop it's the freedom from branding (well mass branding as Just White offers quality branded products we don't buy as often as we might otherwise. There is a fantastic range of boys and girls toys but it's the expanded diversity of non gender specific toys that makes the store even more of a jewel. Prices for the hundreds of awesome toys cover all budgets and there are some lovely well made products that when you're looking for a present for one of your children or a children's friend will always bring total surprise. Games, books, wind up robots, cars, characters and tanks, creativity sets, soft toys, collectibles, jigsaw puzzles, problem solving toys, nota computer game in sight. Though I may be wrong in that statement because when I go to Just White Toy Shop it never occurs to me to look for computer games. This space is magical and worth the visit, even simply to enjoy the curiosity of your kids and yourself.

Since when did they resit the PC exam and pass? If you're shopping for toys in the QVB you've obviously got a few coins to spare, so we're talking pricey here too. And I have to wonder, a lot of the toys seem more aimed at nostalgic adults than kids of today. French flash cards? Hmm... Even the dollshouse furniture is Swedish and uber-designed. This family owned and operated business has been spreading fun since 1935. It is Australia's largest privately owned hobby retailer. Definitely check out the model train set on display in the window. The "bust roller," a plastic handle with little sets of wheels, is a sure fire conversation starter. This shop stays open nice and late, so pop in after a yum cha dinner and have a browse. I just bought a puzzle for an up and coming flight, and at just $5, the store provides both cheap and fast entertainment, as well as specific and querky high range products - even real life HP potions for mortals over 12! The best part of this shop is the middle aged woman who served us. With some kind of European accent (English, Irish, other, I couldn't be sure), she seems reminds me of the typical Irish lady who we all have living next door and wants to help everyone with everything. Games Paradise Pitt Street is the pace to go for board games, and this lady is the person to go to for advice. If you are walking past it in the street, looking for a board game, bored and looking for fun, or needing a different gift for a friend, Games Paradise is my recommendation.

Puzzle games, sex games, games for young, games for old, multiplayer games, single player games, travelling games, games with such complex set ups that you would need to take the monday off in order to complete them. (And that's if you start on a Wednesday.) There are games everywhere! Games stacked on games stacked on games stacked on shelves. If there's a game, they have it. Well, maybe not hopscotch, but they probably sell chalk. There aren't a lot of places that cater specifically for the board game and all its affiliates. Games are sold in all kinds of places, but here they've all come together in their gamey paradise and I guess they like it because they put up with the cramped conditions. The lady behind the counter was very helpful and eager to recommend to me what game, based upon my needs, I would require. The prices are a little steep, but I think that's just board games. And if you really thought about it. The amount of time you spend playing a game like Monopoly, if you pay $40 for it, more if you get the 'Star Wars - Special Edition' like I did. If you really work it out, if you do the maths, it's actually a great deal. For your enjoyment you're probably paying less than twenty cents an hour. Cha-Ching!

It doesn't have the biggest range, but it has the most desirable and dynamic one. I remember going as a kid and spending what felt like hours gawping at every shelf. There was (and probably still is) an unspoken rule that if you don't know what to buy a child, buy them something from here. It will always work.
