I've worked with a number of Boston-area cleaning services over many years and Flying Prince is unquestionably the best. I have high standards and Flying Prince exceeds them every time. I hired Flying Prince to do a deep cleaning at an apartment that I'm about to move into. The previous tenants had lived there for 7 years and the place looked like it had never been cleaned. Communication was great from the beginning. Raul is professional and friendly and speaks to you like a human, not just another client. There was some back and forth on the scheduling which made me a little nervous but it worked out just fine. The cleaning overall was great. I could tell the difference as soon as I walked in. My apartment is large and it's a very old building, and I understand that it's difficult to get all the nooks and crannies in these cases. I knocked a star off because, while I was painting, I found a lot of cobwebs and some dead insects in the corners of the walls. Some of the molding around the doors hadn't been touched and there were dried liquid marks all over the floors. Additionally, they accidentally turned my heat up to 90 degrees. Also, the whole thing took close to 8 hours, which I'm a little confused about. Raul apologized sincerely and offered to come back out to fix the missed areas. This kind of customer service is what's important to me and is why I would give them another chance in the future. To sum up, they did a solid job for a really dirty place on an 85 degree day with no a/c. read more

I do not understand what the hype is about this company. They left three huge messes for me to clean up: sticky floors, fridge shelves installed backwards, and caustic oven cleaner left all over the inside of my oven. They vacuumed well, but didn't spot-clean; they left many areas visibly dirty. They did NOT use soap and hot water anywhere; they just used spray cleaner, which left a sticky mess. It was very expensive. Bad experience overall. == Mess 1: Floors left sticky with spray cleaner == The workers did not use a mop and bucket, with hot water and soap, followed by a rinse. They just sprayed all-purpose cleaner all over the floor, and wiped it with what looked like a giant Swiffer. After they left, I found drips and areas of grime on the floor near the stove, which is not surprising, since they didn't use soap and hot water! In the bathroom, when I stepped out of the shower for the first time, the whole floor was slick with spray cleaner. After it dried, it became sticky, like a giant flytrap, and began collecting dust, dirt, and hair immediately. It was like this in the kitchen, bathroom, and hallway. My feet got stuck every time I walked around barefoot, it was disgusting. And my entire home smelled of that awful spray. I had to get out my own mop and bucket, and mop it up myself. == Mess 2: Fridge shelves installed backwards == The workers emptied my refrigerator and freezer, to clean it inside. That's nice, but when they were done, they put the shelves in backwards, such that it was impossible to put the fridge drawers back on their tracks. I'm guessing they only figured this out after they had refilled the shelves with food, because they just left the drawers sitting in the bottom of the fridge, off of their tracks, unusable. I had to take everything out of the fridge again (absolutely everything, except what was in the doors), because all three of the glass shelves needed to be rotated 180 degrees and reinstalled correctly, to allow reinstallation of the drawers. This was a real pain. Some of the food spoiled quickly, from having been out of the fridge twice in one day. == Mess 3: Oven cleaner left in the oven, horrible smell == This is the one that really pissed me off. When I went to use the oven for the first time after Flying Prince visited, I smelled something odd. I opened the oven, and was hit in the face with the stench of burning lye (or some other caustic substance). These people had left spray oven cleaner all over the inside of my oven. They had wiped away some of it, but a lot was still left. It was caked on the 'ceiling' of the oven, and all over the heating elements. I had to wait for a few hours for the oven to cool off completely (so much for breakfast), then I had to go in there with my own bucket, sponge, and gloves, and rinse everything off. They had even sprayed it on the convection element (the fan), which I had to dismantle with a screwdriver in order to get the spray off, because the fan is behind a grate. In addition to these major failures, they did a shoddy job, overall. They focused the majority of their energy on vacuuming the rugs, baseboards, and soft furniture. However, they did not perform spot-cleaning on hard surfaces with a sponge or damp cloth. There were lots of fingerprints and general grime left on doors, walls, light switch plates, outlets, window sills, the fridge exterior, etc. This was my first time hiring a service, and the main reason I picked Flying Price over the others was their promise to clean so thoroughly. They didn't do that: anything that was not a rug or soft furniture was still dirty (or was sticky with cleaner) when they left. I want to say that I am not some obscenely slovenly person who expected two women to come in and perform a miracle. The house was dirty, sure, that's why I called a service, but it wasn't over the top. I never wear shoes in the house, and I have no kids or dogs around to make a mess. It's not cluttered, it's pretty tidy, there's not much to get in the way of cleaning. It should have been pretty straightforward. Two stars, because they tried. But the Flying Prince workers had neither the tools nor the training to do a good job of cleaning my house. In the end, the Flying Prince gave me a ROYAL pain! EDITED to add: Was two stars, now one star, because of Raul Jurca's unfounded claims about "racial slurs". There was never any hate speech in this or any of my 50+ very thorough reviews, which date back to 2013. What happened was that Raul sent me a private message, offering a re-clean or refund. (Now you know where any bad reviews went!) I did not respond, as I did not want them to come back. Upon realizing his attempt to negotiate with me (re: taking down my review) had failed, Raul went on the attack, making false claims to discredit me. Raul even insists that I would need to doxx myself on Yelp in order to have any credibility. How ridiculous. Anyone with any sense will see Raul's mudslinging for what it is. read more

Our condo needed a deep cleaning like nobody's business. I'd been busy for the past 24 years, ok?! I've never done anything like this before and just sort of stumbled on Flying Prince while googling, and when I read their Yelp reviews, I was sold. I did look into a few other places but they all sounded a lot more "corporate"; when I emailed with Raul - and I did email him, many times, once we agreed on a date! - he was consistently patient, responsive, and articulate. The business has a personal vibe. Of course, the main thing is, how well did they clean? The three cleaners I had did an absolutely *fantastic* job! Hours later, I was still finding little unexpected things that they'd cleaned - like the filthy surge protector on the floor underneath my desk. Underneath our bed are a bunch of storage containers (mostly filled with my daughter's K-12 artwork!) and to vacuum under the bed is a big project bc you have to get all the containers out, vacuum, then shove them all back in. I didn't ask them to do that but they did! And the oven. . . I was amazed, frankly, at how spotless it was. Everything was done carefully and thoroughly; this was no slapdash operation. When they arrived, Raul and his staff and I took a tour, where I pointed out specifically what I wanted done in each room. At the end, we did another tour to make sure everything was A-OK. After getting a glimpse of the apartment my son was planning to sublet for the summer I immediately contacted a handful of cleaning services and Raul responses pretty much immediately even though it was a weekend. It took days for the other companies to respond. I provided Raul with the square footage and the number of bed and bathrooms and told him we needed a deep cleaning and he gave me a quote via phone or email. Access was difficult but Raul worked with me and was able to rearrange their schedule to accommodate our limited window of opportunity. His crew was there for a little less time then he had quoted so we ended up being charged less than the amount quoted. And on top of all that they did a great job of cleaning! They did a great job -- i will say that i explicitly asked they deep clean the shelves (remove the items on the shelf, clean the items and the shelf) and when we ended up having to move a couple days after they cleaned it was clear they had not cleaned my bookshelves as there was a visible outline of my books due to the soot. Due to a miscommunication with one of the tenants, on the day they were scheduled to arrive, they couldn't access the 2nd unit, turning this big job into a much littler job. Even though it wasn't what was expected, the team was incredibly professional and polite. They did an amazing job cleaning the other unit! It was previously owned by a flipper who left it halfway fixed, so there was a lot of sawdust and dirt marks on the wall and floor. They were able to get everything cleaned incredibly quickly. As a yelp "reader" for the past (MANY) years--especially for food @ Boston (Chinese food--cannot find an authentic one yet....), I decided that this was the time to contribute back to the yelp community. Raul did a great job with our apartment (I had 2 other cleaners before at different locations who did so-so jobs)- from the restroom and hallway to the kitchen - from dirt (and I mean literally DIRT -- who knows when the landlord/previous tenants last cleaned...) to professionally CLEAN. So, I made an appointment for cleaning (you may have to call a few times for him to pick up...I called 3+ times in a row). Raul arrived on time (7:58 for 8:00am appointment). If I recall correctly, he was too well-dressed...and I thought, hmm.....well-dressed....cleaning? hmmm...... Then, I left for work. By the time I got back, the apartment was awesome - the bathroom was clean from top to bottom. The kitchen, the microwave (disgusting before), stove top (previously nasty) and oven (for $20 extra) were spotless. I highly recommend this (new?) cleaning company. Didn't charge over 150 an hour for a standard clean 3). Actually come to the home and inspect it and give me a quote. Luckily, flying prince did all that. Raul arrived and I told him exactly what I wanted for my first time clean: shelf liners, cleaning under the stove and fridge, removing all my items and cleaning everything etc. You name it they did it and all for an amazing price. After some impromptu construction that was a much bigger/messier job than our landlord expected, we were in desperate need of a deep clean for our 2br Brighton apartment. I was a little stressed -- my partner has asthma, there was brick dust everywhere, and trying to find someone to make our house livable for the weekend on a Friday afternoon one and a half days prior in Boston is no easy task. I expected Flying Prince to come next week, but Raul responded immediately to my inquiry and, amazingly, made that Friday work.
