This is not my ideal apple picking environment so we wait until after Thanksgiving when it calms down...but unfortunately then it's too cold for the picking part so we take advantage of the pre-picked buckets. They do have farm animals here and a children's playground as well so it's a really nice family outing. No entrance fee or parking fee either. We were pleasantly impressed by the separate cider dégustation boutique this year (right next to the usual boutique entrance) FOR FREE?! My only comments would be that they should add a couple of bistro tables to really enjoy the experience and maybe provide pairings like soft quebec cheeses and such (at that point charge a fee too). We started stopping by Petch Orchard every year because of the Honey Crisps that are so evasive at…read morethe end of September, when we finally manage to organize ourselves for apple picking, and we know this orchard always has them available for sale. This is how we learned the orchard has everything that you traditionally would expect to find, apples, pumpkins, cider, fun for the kids, endless joy of fall goodies. For the lazy ones they sell an amazing variety of all the possible apples you can collect yourself, but you don't feel like it. The place is very busy this time of the year, and the parking lot can be packed, line ups are a little bit longer, but the nice people working there will help you as they can. Finally our big discovery in Petch Orchard are the apple donuts. They are so unbelievably good that you have to buy a dozen and eat half of it right there. Good reason for a visit!

Also great for stocking up on German Christmas sweets and baked items, German coffees, and local and imported cheeses and so many other German items that we can't get in Vermont. It is absolutely worth the 1.5 hour drive from our home. Stefan and Toby (father and son) and their staff are super friendly, and very helpful with making recommendations and a real pleasure to talk to.
