After being here for a month, I realized I didn't actually know what F.N.S. stands for. I sheepishly asked one of the coaches at the front desk, who told me that it means Fitness Never Sleeps. So there, now you know! Speaking of the front desk, everyone is super nice and remembers my name whenever I come in, which is not even that often! I play pickup basketball pretty regularly. I enjoy it because it's a good workout and it's fun to play with a group of people to work toward an objective. I can't bring myself to run regularly or do home exercises habitually. It turns out when you put your dumbbells next to the couch, you still just want to sit in your couch all the time. Anyway, I figured I should do something other than hoops to round out my overall fitness and avoid injury on the court. I've been coming out to FNS for about 4-5 weeks now, about once or twice a week. I'm not exactly a weightlifting enthusiast, and my left knee and I aren't on great terms right now, but I look forward to coming in for classes when my schedule allows (pro-tip: just carve the time out in Outlook as "busy"). Classes are fun, with motivational coaches who are attentive and inspire a spirit of camaraderie. The workouts have a bunch of variety to keep things interesting and well-rounded, and -- more importantly -- the equipment is all set up for you when you come in, so you can get going right away. It's way better than working out at home on your own by several orders of magnitude. Lastly, I like the classes for the same reasons I enjoy basketball -- great workouts that aren't boring, with a group of people who are working toward an objective. As far as results go, well, it's probably going to take more than just a month of dilly-dallying 1-2x a week to have anything to show for it. But I definitely feel good, and that's what matters at the end of the day! Also, last week I was able to carry my sleeping 7 year old through an airport terminal with one arm while rolling our bag with the other; that counts for something yeah?

Outdoor HIIT workout tents to meet the safety requirements during this COVID19 pandemic. I always feel safe and f'n love this place!
    My T.

Professional, empowering and goes above and beyond to meet the Covid19 pandemic safety requirements. I am THAT person who told myself that I would never miss gym days again once they open up. Low and behold this place has exceeded my expectations. I participate in the outdoor HIIT class taught by Brian. He's like THE perfect coach to have by your side even though you're sharing him with your other work out mates. He's not overbearing and definitely encouraging while hilarious. The same can be said for the rest of the coaches (Kailey, Bryan) and those who participate in these classes. It feels like a family and because of pandemic times the support everyone has for each other is much needed. These are awkward times and everyone could really use the positive reinforcement and smiles. Yup, they bring humor into these workouts and it's awesome! Another thing I love about FNS is that you can sign up for the class through an app. Which tells you if the class is filled or not. Also, the staff is very proactive and will call you if they have to cancel a class (I.e., unhealthy air quality due to the fires). Since these classes meet outside per county regulations that is something very important to me to know they are mindful about given my health history. (Thank you Pam!) They have even adjusted their teaching to not put anyone at risk. I feel like when an obstacle comes this gyms way they literally are able to work through it and find better ways of improving. Why? Because they care THAT much about the people who attend. Seriously can they get any better!! Cons: A bit pricey cuz I do a month-to-month but that's because I won't be in the area for too long. Pros: It's so worth the cost and the staff encourages you to strive for the best! You don't fill pitted against another person in any way at all unlike other gyms. Thank you FNS!!!!

Just got my ass handed to me at FNS. Feelin' amazin'!!!

In searching Yelp reviews for local gyms I came across this Anytime Fitness branch which has been open for 18 months or so. We stopped in to check out hte facilities and Jason has incredibly helpful, taking us on a tour, covering membership, and answering all of our questions. I took advantage of a free trial workout and was really happy. As Jason had noted, the gym is incredibly clean, there was no issue getting on any equipment, and people are really friendly. I signed up for a membership and the pricing is really competitive. It's great value. After joining, their fitness manager Megan reached out to schedule a meeting to go over my fitness goals. She arranged a free trial with a personal trainer whom she thought would be a good fit for me. I worked out with Evan who is fantastic. He's a former PT aide, so was great at creating workouts to bypass some injury issues I was dealing with. They are also really flexible. One can work out solo, exclusively with a trainer, or something more intermediate which is what I'm doing. You can purchase a pack of training sessions which pushes the price down and use it as you see fit without expiration. So I can get a lot of hands-on training at the beginning and then transition to 1-4 sessions a month to ensure that I'm making progress. The app is really helpful as it lets you know how many people are in the gym. They take security very seriously. You enter through a fob or app and they strictly ensure that people do not let others into the gym. Even though there are not lockers, the gym is very safe. I wish that this place had opened years ago!

After a few meager attempts to get into an exercise routine, it became clear I would need to pay someone to kick my proverbial butt on a regular basis. I was excited to find a gym with such consistently great reviews nearby, and WESTCA absolutely lives up to the hype. I have a decent amount of experience with lifting and resistance training, but I also have some physical limitations, so the semi-private training format has been perfect for me. It provides the structure and accountability I was looking for while still meeting me where I am in terms of experience, fitness level, and physical capability. I've been training with Ivan, who consistently brings good vibes. His instructions are clear, he's quick to adapt exercises around physical limitations when needed, and he progresses training safely and thoughtfully with encouragement along the way. Progress has been steady, and I love feeling stronger and more energetic. As many other reviewers have mentioned, WESTCA is a smaller gym with a welcoming, low-pressure atmosphere. It's the kind of place that makes it easy to stay consistent. If you're looking for a gym, WESTCA is an easy recommendation.

This location has a dark and dingy vibe with machines and cardio in the main room, and free weights/cables in another expansive room in the back. There is a separate studio room in the back. Two stretching areas, one with turf and a sled. Machines break periodically but I've witnessed staff working on repairs and broken machines usually are back up in a couple of weeks. Has a selection of machines that you won't typically find at smaller gyms, such as a handful of pneumatic weight machines (using air pressure instead of weight stack), hack squat, and hip thrust. Adequate amount of benches and squat racks (~5). There are two dedicated lifting platforms + bumper plates, though there is a second space suitable for deadlifts off to the side. Steel plates were replaced with urethane ones a couple of years ago. There are 2 newer barbells with good spin for dynamic barbell movements. Staff is generally friendly though occasionally understaffed at the front desk. Cons: Chronic shortage of change plates (5lbs and 10lbs). Not sure if they are lost or patrons are sneaking them home. It's pretty much impossible to find a 5lb plate during peak hours, though this can somewhat be circumvented by getting creative with 25s and 35s or by using the 10lb bumper plates from the lifting platforms. Additionally, the men's restrooms is very dirty with a stench. Water from the sinks comes out at a trickle, and sink is usually filled with hair from people shaving. My wife says the women's restrooms aren't much better. Great gym if you're there for getting your workout done. Look elsewhere for a cleaner gym and nicer amenities.
