Unique, cozy venue to check out folk, bluegrass, jazz, blues and world music. Enjoyed a free show featuring lots of the best local STL musicians for Maplewwod's Stringfest... all for free with free beer! The acoustics are dope and the venue is oozing with charm and character. One of my favorite places in STL to see live music. Check out their website for upcoming shows.

Super FUN! Great place for an intimate musical experience. The crowd is the best part of the whole experience.

My children have been enrolled In all aspects of their program from the pre-school combination classes to the high school and performing companies. I have even enrolled in adult dance classes here. Each year the studio highlights all of their students hard work in a professional stage recital production. The classes offer something for everyone. We have been nothing short of delighted to be part of this studio and endorse it with our highest recommendation.

Repertory Theatre of St Louis - The set for Emma at the Repertory Theater of St. Louis

First, the location of this theater is excellent. It's near Webster University in the suburbs, a more convenient area than St. Louis City where other theater venues are located. Second, if patrons go to a matinee, there is plenty of free parking. I went on to the 2 p.m., Sunday afternoon showing of "Emma." There are ways to get discounted tickets at the last minute. I recommend visiting their website for more details on how to do this. I bought a flash sale offering which included three shows, "Emma," being the first one. The show itself was 2 1/2 hours with a 15-minute intermission. I recommend getting everything you need before you go into the theater. 15 minutes doesn't give patrons enough time to get in and out of the restroom or get a drink because of the lines. Speaking of drinks, there were three specialty offerings. Each one had a theme relating to, "Emma." My personal favorite was the Emma Expresso Martini. Almost every seat gives you an excellent view of the stage. If you are not familiar with the layout, show the ushers your ticket and they are happy to direct you to your seat. There were not many open seats. It depends on the production if it's going to be a sellout or not. Evidently, there were a lot of people who are fans of Jane Austen that were in attendance. The costumes and stage sets were top-notch. The scene from the berry-picking party and its aftermath was absolutely hilarious. I loved how the actors interacted directly with the audience as if we were co-conspirators in the events as they were unfolding. There are deviations from Austen's novel; however, I feel this production faithfully follows the spirit of "Emma." In addition to the play itself, the Rep's Christmas decorations were festive and welcoming. If you are in the St. Louis area and love the theater, I highly recommend putting the Repertory Theater of St. Louis on your to-do list.

Crows Nest in Maplewood -- the alleged sister to Eat Crow in Soulard -- feels less like a sibling…read moreand more like a distant cousin who borrowed the family recipes and forgot the seasoning. The only real warmth we encountered came from the female host; the rest of the staff delivered service that hovered somewhere between disinterested and "we're doing you a favor by being here." We kicked things off with the fried deviled eggs, which arrived neither fried nor particularly deviled -- just cold little reminders that hope is fleeting. Cocktails landed squarely in "General Public" territory. My Squatty Potty showed up lukewarm, like it had been loitering at the bar contemplating its life choices instead of making it to the table piping hot. A chicken Caesar salad was perfectly fine... if you enjoy playing hide-and-seek with the chicken. The breakfast burger came on an English muffin with what might be the most emotionally unavailable portion of hash brown casserole I've ever seen -- tiny, distant, and gone too soon. Then there's the Scream Burger. Marketed as ghost-pepper spicy, priced like it's the main event, and delivered with all the heat of a polite Midwestern handshake. Dry, bland, and somehow bold enough to charge me an extra dollar for more mayo -- because nothing says "premium burger experience" like a condiment upcharge to make it edible. My husband's Pork Pountine? Imagine fries sprinkled with a few bacon bits like confetti at a party nobody wanted to attend. We came in excited because Eat Crow in Soulard sets the bar high. Unfortunately, Crows Nest feels like it's cooking for someone driving in from Chesterfield who asked the kitchen to "tone it down." If you're craving the real deal, do yourself a favor: go to Soulard. This nest still needs a lot more feathers. And to the influencers calling this place "amazing" -- do better. Honest, authentic reviews help restaurants grow and help diners know what they're walking into. Stop selling hype and start telling the truth.
