There are so many riding stables that are much closer to my home, but I prefer to ride here (it's one of long islands best kept secrets) because everyone is so nice and there's no attitude or drama (unlike other stables on the island). I always feel like I have the ring to myself which is hard to find on the weekends. This farm is not massive but that's one of the things I like about it. Michelle treats all the horses like her personal pets and takes such good care of them. All of the horses I've ridden were amazing. Beau is by far my favorite horse but Kellie and Kiowa are also great. My 9 year old son used to take lessons on Kiowa and Pistol Pete. Michelle was great with him. Even though he wasn't really into riding she was so patient. Now he just loves to hang out at the farm while I ride on Saturdays. I've watched Michelle teach many children's lessons and noticed she explains riding in a way that children understand. With me (an adult that returned to the ring after a 30 year hiatus) she's soft spoken and provides quality feedback. She's certainly not one of those trainers that yells at you. If you're looking for a laid back down to earth stables with quality horses and a great trainer then look no further. You'll find your home here.

They do both English and western riding and they have an indoor arena so you can ride rain or shine. One of the nicest barns I've seen on Long Island that offers lessons and boarding. The owners are very friendly and helpful and seem to really care about the horses and their customers.

I highly recommend Wild Wind for lessons. They also offer boarding, which seems to be well cared for. However, since I do not have Horse /Stable experience, this is only what I observed in their care for the horses while we visited for lessons.

She takes her time, is super attentive, tough but also supportive and never an instructor that yells. My daughter has been riding here for over 5 years and still loves it. There are boarding facilities in the "lower" barn which has its own brand new indoor riding ring, and lesson horses are in the "upper" barn which also has its own indoor riding ring with a sand floor. The upper riding ring is the old banquet hall and has the same large windows, spotlights and even the disco ball from the halls heyday. Birthday horse parties are fantastic we have attended 3 here and Kristina does an awesome job. First time lesson goers need a helmet (bike will do at first) and heeled shoes, this would honestly be the best place ever to start your horseback riding.
