All the animals are very friendly, including Henrietta the chicken who gently pecks at you to demand a pat (who knew chickens were so snuggly?!) My kids really enjoyed the relaxed no hype time and want to go back right away. Be careful driving in and backing out. The animals are free range and Henrietta often leads them out to greet arriving cars.

Easy enough process and we were booked for the afternoon. Things were running a little late but no big deal by us - we passed the time in the area and headed back. We killed another 10 minutes petting the very friendly goats wandering about before getting saddled up for a ride. Our guide was a very young but very knowledgeable girl our from NYC for the summer. She was so sweet and my wife chatted with her about horses the entire time we walked the trails. Wise beyond her years is an understatement. She was a joy and we're both terribly sorry we didn't seem to catch her name. The trail was easy and quiet. We trotted a few times and our guide checked on us every 5-7 minutes to make sure we were comfortable and feeling good. She noticed my saddle slipped right away and guided me through fixing it. Total pro! We did an hour - it was a bit much for me after around 40 minutes but I'm not an experienced rider so maybe that's why. The trail is a loop so don't expect a full hour of unique sights. However, we really found it peaceful and enjoyable. It was $75/each which we felt was fair. Two tips: 1. Cash only, so bring enough! 2. Tip your guide!

So they basically get away with letting the public pay to ride their horses. that's like saying how I can't afford to keep a horse so let me label it an organization/rescue that way public funds my hobby.

I won't list all of them - just some highlights. My friend, who is not experienced, wanted to do this trail ride for our birthdays and we thought it would be fun. I've been on trail rides all over the world and know what to expect, and have never pulled out of a ride because I didn't feel safe until this place. I was the first person to be mounted and when the horse came out, I could see that the saddle was improperly placed too far back. I didn't say anything because it's not my place, but when I mounted, the girth was clearly too loose as the saddle started to slip. I told them that the girth was too loose and also that the saddle seemed to far back so Janet said let's reset the saddle and asked me how I would do it! She didn't seem to know the proper placement or how tight to make the girth because apparently this happened before. She then told me to walk down the lawn and let the horse graze while I waited for the rest of the group. It's not a safe practice to let horses graze while mounted, especially with beginners, but apparently that's what they do regularly. When the group was ready to leave, Janet started off on her horse and just about 30 yards from the barn, before even getting to the trail, the horse tripped and fell all the way down to the ground!! Janet fell off of course, and the horse walked off. If I had any doubt that all the red flags I'd clocked were right, this confirmed it. She was shaken up but ok, but didn't go on the ride, I don't know what was up with the horse but if a horse falls down just walking across a lawn, that raises questions about soundness and safety that are serious.

Can't say enough good things about this place!!…read more I came out here with a group of 10 for a bachelorette party in October and we had an amazing experience! Cate, the owner was an absolute delight to work with and she was so helpful. I probably called 10 different times with numerous questions/changing the group size, etc. and she was so patient and accommodating. They provide the helmets and any additional equipment needed for the horse back ride. Our group was a divide of some experienced riders and some total beginner's, some of which were very nervous and afraid (myself included) and they were really good about helping us feel comfortable. There was a guide at the beginning and the end of the group. The ride was pretty long, about an hour and a half and we went onto the beach for part of it which was really pretty. We also did some advanced riding, called trotting, which was a bit scary, as a non-horse lover, but it ended up being fun! This is definitely a fun and different activity. I will warn that it is pricey though at 180$/person!

I booked the 1.5hr ride to the beach and back for my boyfriend and I. I'm an experienced rider and…read morehe hasn't ridden a horse since he was a child, so we were hoping for a little more instruction for him other than "pull back to stop and kick to go". We were already on the horses for 5min before the guide stopped, introduced himself and asked if it was anyone's first time on a horse before (little late to be asking that!). Due to his thick accent, it was also extremely difficult to understand him when he was shouting instructions from the back of a horse. The trail itself was extremely rocky and the horses were frequently smashing their hooves/slipping on the rocky terrain. Our guide was always 2 horse lengths ahead of the group with another rider, so if something had happened while riding and we needed immediate assistance, we would have had to yell for him to stop. We were with an inexperienced group of riders, so we trotted one time and then never tried again. The oddest thing was after the ride. The guide took a couple quick pictures of each group while on the beach and told us to leave our number so he could send us the pictures afterwards. We did, bought a hat from them and left. Then my boyfriend received a message via Venmo from the business "reminding that we haven't received a tip from you for your ride and we accept tips via Venmo". Two days went by and still no pictures. I messaged them on Instagram and got no reply. The following day I called and asked if the pictures could be sent to me and was told she would let our guide (Carvel) know to send them. I then received texts from someone who was obviously Carvel himself telling me again he still hadn't received a tip from us. I asked if it was required to leave a tip in order to receive the pictures and he said "did not say that- but Carvel took the photos on his personal phone which he did not have to do so we believe he deserves a tip." Carvel never asked for my phone to take the pictures which I would have happily provided if asked. We finally got the pictures after I sent a string of angry messages. After paying over $400 for the ride and the hat, I never expected to have to harass the business multiple times for three pictures that were taken in a rush. I do not recommend this experience.
