Brought my 90+ year old grandmother in to check her eye after she had a fall. She normally visits the Clovis office. The only positives are that I was glad they got her in within the week to see if her retina was detached and my grandma and I had a good experience with Dr Ni. The building is really big. We walked into the lower floor and there are many spots to try on glasses. We didn't see a clear reception area or signs pointing to check-in. We walked through this try-on area/lobby to a counter against the back wall. I approached the woman who was talking to another employee who was leaned over the counter. I asked if she could help us find the check-in and I mentioned that I wasn't sure we were in the right place. She said "Do you have the address?" I replied I did have the matching address but as the building was big, I wasn't sure if I was in the correct spot. She said she was going to "send" me to the next room. We went into the next room and there was another counter, with no one facing the door we can in through. I put my grandma's ID into the check-in kiosk. It said to see someone at the counter. I went around to the other side of the L shaped counter were 2 people worked on computers, not looking up. I asked if we were checked in. They said I needed to go to the 4th floor. (I'm still not sure if we could have just started there. I had ushered my grandma around a bit at this point). On the 4th floor, there were 3 people at the counter. Not very welcoming or acknowledging. During her exam, my grandma mostly saw one assistant until he left and another assistant came in. She was smacking gum loudly and asking if my grandma was already given drops to dilate her eye. I had seen the previous assistant give drops but I wasn't sure for what purpose. I pointed to the drops on the counter and she looked confused and went to ask. When we checked out, the scheduling desk debated back and forth as to if the follow up was 3 month or 5 month. They finally went to ask. 3 months. They said to come back in January. I said it couldn't be January and 3 months. It is April. The scheduler was pretty confident and kept referring to her screen. She brought another scheduler over. They both told me January while looking at the screen. I said July would be 3 months after April. They both caught the error then and rescheduled my grandma to July. I'm hoping to take her to my OD, Dr Kebo, in Sanger. Drs Kebo are both wonderful and professional. I'm so glad my grandma didn't attempt to go to this appointment on her own. This office is unprofessional and unorganized. read more

Dr. Weins is THE BEST! He is so nice and personable to my 91 year old mother. He is 5/5. He moved from the 4th floor to the 1st floor. Check in is tricky because there's no signs telling you on Tuesday's he is on the 1st floor. I am not sure why it isn't posted. This is the reason for the lower score. read more

2 hour wait for a 2 minute appointment. Got to my appointment with Chavez early. It took about 20 minutes to get me to the back. Once there, they put me in a temporary room and took some info. They then moved me again to a temporary waiting room and forgot all about me, or just didn't care that I was waiting. Not sure which is worse. Took an hour and some change till I was out of that waiting room and back into another room waiting for the doctor. Despite arriving at 3pm, he didn't see me till 4:45pm. It took 2 minutes to diagnose my issue, it was exactly what I told them I thought it was, the fix was prescribing antibiotics. TWO MINUTES. that's what I waited two hours and paid $90 for. I was one of the last people leaving the office, they had to unlock the door for me. Where did all those appointments after mine go? Surely they weren't helped before me... right? Isn't that what an appointment is for? The doctor is knowledgeable, but his office and staff are bullshit. Never going back, save yourself the time and don't risk getting ignored/forgotten by these idiots. read more

I scheduled an appointment at Fogg Remington for January 24, and it was scheduled at their office at 1648 E. Herndon, Suite 101. Long story short, it was a brand new office and needed much before it should have opened. The staff was poorly trained and not at all patient friendly. Dr. Diane Lee briefly examined my eyes. From the time she entered the exam room, she had a very big attitude! I was not aware that having a degree in optometry was cause for such a superior, condescending attitude, or maybe she just does not like senior citizens. I told her that I was having problems with my vision with difficulty in seeing clearly, difficulty in seeing road signs and the tv screen clearly and my computer screen. After a very brief exam, she said that my prescription had not changed. I asked why I was having so much trouble with my vision. She asked if I use eye drops and when I used them. I told her every morning, and she replied with a very snotty attitude that I should use the drops up to four times a day. I am reluctant to have her prescription filled and use my vision insurance benefits on the same prescription that is not working for me, Consequently, I am going to need another eye exam (at my own expense) to confirm or disprove her very doubtful opinion. My whole experience at the 1648 E. Herndon office was very disappointing, and I will never go there again. At my age, I refuse to be subjected to this type of attitude and disrespect. I've been a patient for years since the days of Fogg, Maxwell, Remington and Lanier and most lately Fogg and Maxwell. I agree with many of the comments that the wait time could get lengthy. I always booked first thing in the morning or right after lunch to avoid that. Dr. Remington performed cataract surgery in 2023 and I found out most recently that he was no longer involved in eye vision visits or refraction follow ups. Just doing surgery and eye health in general. I get it, there is only so much time in a day and in a life. Unfortunately, I think notification would have a good customer service gesture. My next vision visit was done in a newly reopened office in Clovis. I have to say, I was disappointed. The professionalism is lacking. I felt I was in a high school cafeteria with the giggling, conversations between staff as though the customer/patient wasn't present. Makes me wonder if the manager/supervisor is set out to carry the torch and maintain the standards of the original Fresno office. I think It's time to seek out another office. read more

The eye care, in general, is decent. In terms of Lasik, it's so and so. When it comes to helping you with insurance coverage, you're left on your own. They will not help you at all. You're told to contact your insurance provider and discuss it with them. VSP was willing to work with me, and the provider to discuss the costs of the surgery. I was told to have them call VSP. Granted, it is my responsibility to handle this situation. However, VSP has told me to have the Lasik Coordinator call them so they can discuss how to get a payment to them. Well, the coordinator absolutely refused. Didn't want to help. With that being said, I'm not going to get the surgery. Since the coordinator didn't want to attempt to assist me with my insurance coverage, I will not call them to cancel the appoint. So, I hope they see this review, and cancel it on their own. Five Stars especially for Doctor Chavez. Very efficient, but also patient focused. The way he conducted my eye exam was far better than any of my previous eye doctors because I was able to understand exactly what he wanted me to evaluate. In other words not just "one, or two" like all my previous eye exams. My last eye doctor retired on me so my primary doctor referred me here. I try to avoid big, behemoth businesses in favor of smaller, local. I may have stay with this doctor and this giant practice though. There is no chance of me outliving Dr Chavez's professional years! The experience at the front of the practice is very confusing. I've been here twice and both times the staff is stand off-ish and they act like they are annoyed to have to help someone. They lose patience immediately in spite of the very confusing layout of the front of the practice. Things could be labeled better. Both times I came in, I walked up to the counter and the person I walked up to apparently wasn't with the outfit I was there to see. When I walked up they asked me who I was there for. Well that was awkward the first time. "Um... I just came to this address on bc a referral from my doc???". The second time, I went to the same station, but again, the person seemed to be with another entity. Hate to ruin the esthetic, but maybe some signs or labels people? There is a big name on the top of the building, but apparently that isn't the name of any practice inside. When you walk in, there's an eyeglass showroom on the left... but it's in now way related to the eye doctor. When you go to the right there are computer sign-ins for two different entities. Then there's a big counter, but you better have and answer when the ask you who you're there for. Once I got past the front, everything was great! So two stars for the front people, three stars for the comfort of the waiting area and five stars for the techs and the doctor. read more

I have been a patient here for over 35 years and so has my family. Sadly after today I don't think we will be back. For one, every time I go, it's over an hour wait. I had an appointment today and walked up to the front desk. The girl was sitting there texting on her phone and did not look up until I said "excuse me."She finally looked up and acted very annoyed, and just pointed me towards a kiosk. After I checked in, I waited 45 minutes and went up to the desk to find out when I would be seen as it was way past my appointment time. She again was texting, looked up, again super annoyed, and just told me." there's still about 2 to 3 more people ahead of you to be called." I asked about rescheduling, and when a good time would be because the last few times I've come, I've had to wait over an hour. She just said it's the doctors fault if they get behind. She then went back to her phone and texting. I've never felt like such an inconvenience being a patient in an office before. Sadly, the physicians there have always been great, but I am not going to come back with that kind of treatment from the front desk. read more

I love the staff here! Everyone is so nice. I'm glad a co-worker referred me to to them years ago. I see Dr Harmon twice a year, due to a medical condition. He is a really good doctor and he's great with his patients. The other day when I was in, he was explaining something about my eyes to a staff member and had her take a look in my eyes to see how they're different from most people's eyes. I could tell he has great teaching skills. From the front desk when I check in to the time I'm walking out with new glasses ordered, everyone is awesome! read more

Do not come to this place if you want to be treated with dignity. I was told I would be right in and I had to wait for close to an hour. Then they moved me to another room and told me they would see me in just a sec. I was in there about 20 minutes when I asked one of the people what was happening because I had to get out of there to get to a class. She told me I was next. 30 minutes later I still hadn't been seen and had to leave. What a waste of time and what an unethical attitude to have towards paying customers. The woman Hispanic woman there today 8/24/22 at about 2pm in the optical dept never introduced herself , was more busy typing on the computer than focusing on adjusting my moms glasses , she's 85 , she handed her something to read and told can you read this never any eye contact with my mom , this made me mad and I told her you're not explaining what you want her to read , here let me be the tech . I explained to my mom what needed to be done . Very upsetting that now a days people treat the computers and he the customer!! Herndon office is nowhere like this . Dr Maxwell is highly regarded in LASIK on the national level, which made him an easy choice for me after consultations at other local eyecare places. His staff was highly knowledgeable and low pressure. They didn't try to sell me the procedure. Dr. Maxwell did a GREAT job and turned mine -11.25 prescription into 20/20 vision. Although referral in place and this group within insurance plan and services covered through insurance, they refused to submit preauthorizations, insisting up front out of pocket pay for all services and medically necessary scleral lenses for my teenage child with Keratoconus . This review is specifically for Dr. Lanier only. I've been a patient of Dr. Dills's for over 20 years and will continue to see him. But I will NEVER take my children back to Dr. Lanier. I brought my twin 2-yr olds in for an eye exam after their pediatrician recommended it. I brought all my reinforcements (snacks, apple sauce, sippy cups, cartoons on my tablet) just in case the appt took a long time. The girls did great until it was time for the exam. Since it was a dark room and they weren't familiar with the eye technician they started crying. When she started putting the lenses next to their eyes, my sensitive twin starting freaking out and hysterically crying because she was scared. I tried my best to calm her down. Dr. Lanier walks in and "shushes" my girls and says "gosh, we have 2 fussy babies!" At first I thought she was kidding, but she was completely serious. She then patted the technician on the shoulder and asked if she needed help dealing with my fussy girls. Mind you, this was their very first eye dr appt ever. The technician walks out after examining them and Dr Lanier walks back in and says "great now I have to deal with the fussy babies'!" I was so mad at this point and wanted to leave. But I just wanted to finish the appt. I'm trying to control them the best that I can. My mom who was at the appt with me casually mentioned to Dr. Lanier how it's been a tough year for me and how I lost a bunch of weight running after the twins. Then Dr. Lanier had the audacity to say "ya, I was thinking to myself that you're probably anorexic!!!" I found her comment to be highly unprofessional and inappropriate. I'm not anorexic but I am dealing with some health issues. As a medical professional, I felt she should've kept her comment to herself. Especially since she has no idea about my medical history. That was it for me. I'll go back to see Dr Dill. But I'll never take my girls to see her ever again! I thought she would've had more patience being an eye dr for kids. read more

My appointment was for 2:50 on 4/17 with Dr. Harmon for a follow-up of my contact lens prescription. I arrived at 2:40. At 3:00 I kindly reminded the receptionist that my appointment was for 2:50 and they were late. No response. At 3:10 I took a photo of the large clock on the reception desk and again reminded the front desk that they were late and that I was going to note this on Yelp. At that point she alerted a supervisor and I was called in to an exam room and treated immediately. Moral of the story: patient's time is as important as theirs. The care at Fogg, Maxwell and Lanier is adequate. I have waited in excess of an hour over my scheduled appointment time before at the Fresno office. I refuse to do that any longer at any professional's office without an apology or explanation. read more

This is my 3rd visit here. I am a little slow to learn my lesson. The wait time is ridiculous. I waited 20 minutes for the first name call. Then waited another 20 minutes to have the vision exam. Then saw the dr walk in go in and out to see two other patients before me. Another 45 minute wait! Who does the scheduling here? It should NOT take 2 hours for an eye exam. We will NEVER be back here again. And I will NEVER recommend this office. The only reason there are 2 stars is because the lady who did the exam was very friendly and Dr. Lanier is great. read more

Please do your research on Maxwell first! Back in August 2020, Dr. Maxwell performed cataract surgery for my father. He ended up having complications during the surgery, which led us to look for another doctor in San Jose to finish the job and restore his eyesight. The complication began when Dr. Maxwell removed my father's natural lens, ripped the "lens bag" in the process, and was unable to replace it, leaving my father without eyesight. To make matters worse, Dr. Maxwell did not inform us immediately of the complication and allowed my father to go home. My dad's vision on that eye went from 40% to 0%. Later that day, he requested for my father to return to the office, something the surgical center staff thought was unusual as patients do not normally return the same day. At this point we knew something was wrong. Please note that Dr. Maxwell sent my father home without a patch, eye uncovered, and with only one set of eye drops. Later that day the doctor explained to us that he had ripped the lens bag and blamed my father's medication (mind you Dr. Maxwell knew upfront what medication my dad was taking). The doctor would not look at my dad, appeared really nervous, and was very fidgety during the post-op visit. He made a mistake and it was apparent he did not know how to rectify it. As you can imagine, we were quite worried and anxious after leaving his office. We immediately got on the phone and looked for another doctor to give us a second opinion. We found an amazing doctor in San Jose who said what Maxwell had done should never have happened regardless of my dad's medication. The patient care was night and day between Maxwell and the new doctor. The new doctor was thorough and very confident, something Maxwell lacks. The examination and scans alone with the new doctor took an hour (not including consultation) - Maxwell had performed only 10% of what the new doctor had done in preparation for the surgery. The new doctor prescribed my father 4 new eye drops to help him heal faster and avoid infection (Maxwell 1). When we informed Maxwell's staff that we would not be returning, they were rude. They were rude to the new doctor's office staff when all they were trying to do is get a copy of his chart. HERE IS THE WORST PART. Red flag #1: Dr. Maxwell does not have an actual practice/office in Watsonville! He is based out of Fresno and rents out the surgical center in Watsonville. The new doctor's office staff could not locate him in Watsonville and neither could we. All we had was a number to the surgical center. Red flag #2: He goes by Andrew Maxwell in Fresno and William Maxwell in Watsonville. Red flag #3: Maxwell has 1 star in his personal Fresno Yelp profile, and 2.5 stars at this Fresno eye care center where he practices. Save yourself some stress and find another doctor! read more

Worst customer service ever! The staff is very unorganized. I had to call three - four times in one day just to schedule an appointment because each time I called it was something different they needed from me. My husband even had to call to give them his social security number he then schedule an appointment for me. I called them back the same day to reschedule because it wasn't going to work for me, they said they didn't have an appointment scheduled for me and they are showing no record of my husband calling. WHAT!!!! That was the last straw! The only reason I am leaving a review is because I hope that they will read this and improve on their communication skills. read more

I came here based on a referral from my doctor about a chlaizan and that I had on my eye. The staff was very helpful and friendly and my appointment went quickly. When I met with dr. Maxwell, he was able to tell me they could go through the in-house procedure that day. So I agreed to go and get the chiles en removed. I was adequately numbed and the anesthesia was applied to where I felt no pressure. After the mass was removed, he did not take any of the material for a biopsy, which I thought they might just to check to make sure it wasn't cancerous. He gave me no instructions on a follow-up. He also told me I could go right back to work tomorrow. My eyes still swollen and has a patch on it. I ask that I need any antibiotics he said no. I asked if I needed a follow up visit to come back to make sure it had healed correctly he also said no. I was sent out of the office with no further information on how to care or maintain my eye after this procedure. Nor was I given anything to look for in the event that there is an infection or something goes bad. I called a friend who is a nurse, and she informed me that there were some things I needed to look out for. Such as not getting water in my eyes for the next 8 days and not wearing I make up as to irritate the eye. These are just a few things that would have been helpful if the doctor would have informed me. At this point I would not recommend dr. Maxwell or this location. I am highly irritated that my own personal doctor would refer me to an institution that puts so little in the aftercare in a patient. read more
