My Review is for the Bookfair department. It is a new department and so far I feel like a valued customer. In my 23 yrs of my career I can honestly say Follett Bookfair offers the best deals. Rewards NEVER EXPIRE in fact they roll them over for your next purchase. LOVE TITLEWAVE except I can not find a Titlewave app for android. Weird if you ask me most folks offer apple and android. But again they are new in this frontier. Cons. this department is new and with that being said they have some loose ends to figure out. pros. BEST easy bookfair set up with FANTASTIC REWARDS! Paid for expedited service for a 2-day shipping of item ($19.99). Never received the item within 2 days (as of today, waiting 7 days). Was told order is still being processed and the 2-day shipping starts the day the carrier receives the package. They either need to revisit their shipping policies or get rid of it if they cannot live up to that policy. By the way, they told me they would not be able to refund my $19.99! read more

TLDR: Mid. Try to cold call them rather than making an online ticket for support, especially if you need something urgently. Make sure to have details like order ID, item you need support for, and user info like email and institution ID. My university uses Follett. While there are lots of shenanigans like charging signficiantly more compared to other stores (which is why I rate them a 3) they generally do a good job. All my physical purchases arrive in great shape, and I have almost always recieved digital purchases on time, including opt-in programs. Recently though, I did suffer an issue with not recieving an opt in code. I had an assignment due that day and my free trial ran out, so I desperately needed a code. I managed to find their phone number and called their support staff. They were very swift and professional, and I managed to get a code. If I didn't have an issue in the first place I definately would have given them a 4/5. They don't go above and beyond, however they are definately sufficient. read more

I purchased a $200 gift card through Follett for the Old Dominion University Bookstore. When my daughter tried to use the card for a purchase, she was told that the University no longer does business with Follett and would not honor the card. Any attempts to contact Follett for a resolution were unsatisfactory or completely ignored. read more

My refund was never credited & when I contacted customer service my issue went unresolved. I was never able to communicate with the same representative consecutively. Every 2 messages I'd be replied to by a different person. I spoke to 5 different people over this order. Each one asking me the same questions I had already answered. they couldn't even bother to read the message history like if they were putting it off on the next rep. I had to tell them all what Items I had returned A Ipad case, (that I had even emailed customer service and my school's contact for online orders & tried to cancel not even 30 minutes after I ordered it -before it was even processed or marked shipped, and the agents waited 3 days to reply to at which point the item had been shipped and they said there was nothing they could do) & a laptop stand. One person even emailed me that even if they received my return they wouldn't process it or even notify me that they received it without a tracking number, which i found was very unethical. I couldn't find my receipt with my tracking number on it, and unfortunately my USPS office keeps primarily paper records and then have to mail off at the end of every month. This is the second time I have had to contact them and jump through a million hoops just to be refunded for unused items I returned. I am extremely displeased, especially because I had to pay for the return shipping, pay for the items, and do not even have anything to show for it except for the displeasure I encurred trying to resolve this matter. I mailed my return on August 25 by USPS to the return address on the order form included a copy of the order slip in the box with the returned items, like requested for returns. I don't see why this is such a hassel, the box was returned, the slip inside there should be no questions on who's order it is was when they received it. I would've assumed a larger company like this would have been more ethical and honorable handling students returns. read more

Follet is the worse company I have ever had to deal with. I truly do not understand how and why universities deal with this company. They truly just do not care about anything other than money. With my university, a lot of the books the university requires they have this deal that they will reimburse rebates to students based on what the university would pay for the school, this is with almost every book. And you know almost no one knows, and Follet sure does not tell you. You have to go through this process to submit it, and if its over a certain amount of time, too bad, forget your rebate. But either way, I wish this review was only about the rebate, no. The "contact people" for my university from Follet, NEVER answer emails. My school and I sent MULTIPLE emails trying to correct an issue over the span of 2+ weeks, between 3 people from my school, myself, and 5 people from Follet, The email thread actually was between my university and I because follet NEVER answered. Its sad lol. Now what about phone calls? Nope. Do you know how I finally got ahold of them? Through the chat website by pretending I wanted to buy a book lol, thats how I finally tricked someone into speaking with me. Another issue, I paid 1 day shipping for a material I needed... 5 DAYS AGO!! guess what, has not updated, after me harrasing them about the order, switched to "fulfilled" but theres no tracking, there is no update, there is no more emails... well they never answered emails. Recently Follett advertised for a temporary position that would last a month. They advertised well in advance. And then on the day I was supposed to start working, good ol' Follett sends me an e-mail that they decided not to have any temp workers at all. They kept saying he was given the code. I said no it wasn't. I kept asking them to re-send the code or issue a new code. They first said to return the book. What book??!! It's an online resource! I finally got paid. Took a different approach, I threatened supporting Follett buyers with a lawsuit against Follett and them personnally. Within 24 hours I was paid in full. I also contacted each college directly and explained to them that I would take them to court as well unless they pressured Follett to pay up. It worked. Terrible customer service. Via email, the person I spoke with obviously did not read my first email so my question was never answered. Via phone, I spoke with a young man that acted like he had no clue about textbook rental policies and was deferring to someone else to look up the information I had given while placing me on hold multiple times. My question was still not answered. He then transferred me to a supervisor, a woman whom acted like I was troubling her for help at all. My issue was resolved, but it was a painstaking process. I recently worked a temp position at the Davidson County Community College bookstore in Thomasville, NC. The staff are very hard worker's and were helpful in my training. I enjoyed each person that I worked with and I'm amazed at the teamwork they have in place to get the job done! I would be happy to work there again. Covid guidelines are closely followed as well. They were not able to send me my digital access information, even when I informed them I never received it. They act superior as if I'm the one that didn't follow through. Absolutely awful! I was told as long as my books were shipped back by the due date of Dec. 20th they would be considered returned on time. They were very clear that the books merely had to be shipped by the due date, not received by then. Well, I shipped them on Dec. 19th. The system on their site says that the books were received. Despite this, I woke up this morning to find a pending charge on my credit card for almost 500 dollars!! For non return! I'm trying to resolve this with customer service, but I keep being told to call my college bookstore which is closed for winter break. If I could 'award' them negative stars, I would. My son is in his freshman year at Daytona College and not knowing any better, I purchased his textbooks for his first semester classes at the campus Follett bookstore. I decided to compare prices on textbooks for his 2nd semester classes before having my wallet pillaged yet again by these crooks. Since he is going to school part time, my son was taking 3 classes for the 2nd semester, 2 of which had textbook requirements. For TWO books, what would have cost me $408 through eFollett.com or the on-campus store cost me $246.57 through Amazon. That's roughly a 40% difference in prices! I didn't buy used books, either. These are brand new with the same ISBNs as on eFollett. With the cost of going to college rising every year, you would think that companies like Follett would do what they could to help ease some of the burden - with the number of colleges that contract them, they can certainly afford it! But noooooooo. They don't care about the parents or the students. All they care about is making maximum profit. read more

I'm in wholehearted accord with the other reviewers, this company is TERRIBLE! Don't use their buyback service; they offer a certain price for your books, you send said books then they decline to pay you the amount you've agreed on. They told me that one of my textbooks, one in pristine condition as far as I could tell, could inexplicably no longer be accepted. When I asked for the book back so that I could sell it elsewhere, they refused, citing their policy that once you've sent them the books they can pretty much keep them and not pay you for them! This all occurred, by the way, nearly a month after they received my books, ignored my emails and repeatedly transferred my calls to the "buyback department" voice-mail; of course, my messages were never returned. I count myself lucky to be finally getting any money from them, of course it hasn't arrived yet. By the way, in case you don't heed my advice: they don't publish any numbers and they absolutely WON'T give you the "buyback department's" phone number, so here are a couple that I dug up after a great deal of research: 800-381-5151 general customer service from what I can tell 855-899-1001 who knows? the 'some lady who works close enough to the buyback department to physically walk over and see why they aren't answering the phone and then come back, offer to transfer you, but refuse again to give you the phone number and ultimately hang up on you' department read more

They REFUSE TO GIVE ME MY REFUND. Terrible customer service. This company is an absolute joke. Where should I start? Let's see, this current semester I ordered 4 books, the order was fulfilled no problem. I check a week later as my classes are about to start and 2 of the books were cancelled because they weren't in stock.. yet they were fulfilled. How do you not know what books you have in stock when you fulfill an order?and then don't even notify me. But, not even that big of a deal compared to what comes next. - one of the books, per UPS said "a damage occurred.. etc" so I contacted UPS, and apparently the book fell out of the package and they were sending a damage report. Ok cool. I contact follett to try and explain this, and of course you get the run around, you can never talk to someone who can actually fix a problem. Always "oh it's been sent to so-and-so and they'll contact you".. yeah right. So now it has been 2 weeks of going back and forth with follet about this issue, and they are REFUSING TO GIVE ME MY REFUND until the "book arrives back at the warehouse". I have tried to explain to them I don't have the book, in fact, I never received it. And not only that, whether UPS fixes their issue on their end has NOTHING TO DO WITH ME. Issues with shipping and delivery of goods is on the seller, period. I have nothing to do with it, however they don't care. Literally what they're doing is borderline illegal, they are literally in a breach of contract because they did not deliver my book, and now won't refund my money. Next, one of the other two books came in and was completely destroyed with scribbles, writings, underlines, marks through entire pages, etc. to the point it is hardly legible, they didn't care about that either. And I guess I can also add that a year ago one of my books had the entire front cover ripped off. But I never even complained about that because I just duct taped it back on. No big deal. Now to last year-- I rented a book, and needed it again the following semester. I forgot to return it on time because I would be using it again the following semester- my fault. However, it hadn't even been a week since it was due and I contacted them saying I wanted to renew the rental on the book, just wanted to re-rent it, easy enough right? Wrong. -- you would have thought I asked them to find me the krabby patty secret formula and give me 2/3 of their company. First, I emailed them multiple times- no response. Then I called them, of course the run-around again, oh "so-and-so will contact you" yeah right. It was oh no idk I think you'll have to return the book, this and that, I'm like ma'am why would I return the book only to have you send it right back to me?? I didn't even mind paying the late fee (even though me not returning it did no damage to them since I would be renting it again- in other words, they didn't lose a customer that they could have rented this book to and in turn lose money, because I'm trying to rent it again), just wanted to pay the late fee and rent it again. Then I was supposed to wait for the warehouse to contact me. Time passed with no response from anyone, then I see they charged my card for the entire book! I said wtf?? So called and called again, finally getting in contact with someone, only to get the same run-around story, oh the warehouse will contact you, blah blah.. yeah right. After a month of going back and forth about something that should have been as simple as a click of a mouse on their end, I just said f*** it, I'd rather just buy the book than keep dealing with them, so I just left it alone. So a recap- this company is an absolute joke, has no customer service, seems to not care at all, and some of the employees seem to have no idea what's going on. Absolutely awful. I ordered a textbook, and they sent me the wrong one. I triple checked my order to make sure, and they sent me a book that is not the one I ordered. Different title, content, cover, ISBN, totally different. I sent several emails and filled out support tickets, and they don't answer any of them. After sitting on hold for quite a while, a girl answered the phone and had no clue what she was doing. She said she would ask the warehouse about it and get back in 24-48 hours. That was a week ago. She told me if I didn't want to wait, I could just make a return and reorder the book. I'm not paying shipping to return and then shipping to reorder for something that was THEIR MISTAKE. Do not do business with this company. They advertise 2nd business day receipt of books, but what they dont tell you is that they give themselves up to 48 hours to "process" your order. In effect, you will essentially receive your books 6 business days AFTER you place your order. On top of that, they only accept returns for books up to 7 days after your order is PLACED. Therefore you are basically buying a book that cant be returned. I called Follett to talk about the order time line, and when i asked to speak to someone about returning the book, they "transferred" me and whoever answered the phone, hung up on me after saying hello. Absolutely ridiculous.... poor business practices and customer service Again, do NOT do patronize this business with your hard earned money. I will never order from them again. read more
