How is the Psychology program in Harold Washington?

I enjoyed the psychology classes I've taken. It gets deeper, and slightly tougher the higher you go, but well worth it. If I weren't focused on pursuing a mental health degree, I may have switched to a psych major due to having great professors.…

A very rich environment, very supportive educators, and education in one of the best cities in the US. When I went to my first class, I had a cold and was struggling a bit. A female janitor saw me and gave me a hug! She said she's like the grandma of the science building and if I need anything, I can reach out to her. There are homeless around the Lincoln Park campus too (near the Fullerton station), but they are the sweetest. They just love talking to students and enjoying the environment. I felt so welcomed and blessed. I love this school so much and highly recommend going here!!! Graduated class of 2020 and loved DePaul so much, I decided to study for my master's here and now I'm excelling more than ever!

The location is the best part. On the way to school from the train station you walk by so many large financial institutions. If you're going for finance or accounting this is an awesome school that will prepare you for a career. Some of the professors are ultra liberal and they try to shoved down their ideology on the students. But most of the business program professors are awesome. This is a great school to commute to and also to transfer from community college. They do a great job of getting you equipped for the real world of full-time employment. If I had a chance to do college all over again I would choose DePaul in a heartbeat.

I attended National Louis University back in 2020 and graduated in 2021. Overall, I enjoyed my time…read morewith the courses I've taken and my professors in my department, but this school needs to be more organized. First, the financial aid department is a nightmare. Everybody who has attended this school has had issues with the department during their time in NLU. They will not send your Reward Letter. Until classes have already started, which can be an issue for some people since they might not be able to afford the pocket cost for the Quater, and if you can't pay it, you cannot register for classes for the next Quater. When I was attending this school, I had a terrible advisor. She was the advisor for the transfer students. She was trying to enroll me in courses I didn't need to take, and she almost made me go another year of school, taking unnecessary courses when I only needed to take two more classes to graduate during my last semester of school. Also, halfway through my time at NLU, I discovered they still need to check my transcript for my last semester at the other college I attended. When I told them, and they did check my transcript, I didn't even need to take the course I was taking during the semester, and I couldn't drop the class since it was after midterms, and you couldn't get a refund for the course. Also, they tried to make me take GEN ED courses that I had already taken in my Community College. After I told my advisor about it, she finally made it as a transfer credit. IF YOU ARE A TRANSFER STUDENT, MAKE SURE THEY CHECK ALL OF YOUR CLASSES FROM YOUR PREVIOUS COMMUNITY COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY. Because if you don't, these guys might not check, and you might be taking more courses that you shouldn't be taking. The good thing about the advising department is that you can go to other advisors for help if your advisor isn't available or wants somebody else to check. There is one great advisor who helped me out in the end and made sure that I could graduate. Don't get me wrong, I had a great time attending NLU despite taking classes online. The professors are great, and some have helped me grow. Many would have guest speakers come in, and many would help you get a job after obtaining your degree or getting an internship. But I wouldn't recommend going to this school if you have other options, I suggest you go elsewhere. The school's promises sound good on paper, but the execution is terrible. Very disorganized is the best way to describe this school.

They do offer English classes supported by the four principal skills: writing, reading, grammar and listening/speaking. I am telling from a personal experience, instructors are absolutely qualified, classes are really interactive and fun, and one of the biggest advantages, this college is really affordable (books included in most of programs) Huge shout out to Teacher Patrick, Ben and Wesley, who were not only fundamental but also fantastic instructors during my time as an student in MCC. Also, they organize events every month, so not everything is about classes, it is also about experiencing Chicago and everything that this city has to offer. Besides ESL classes, they also offer professional English classes, for people who are looking to improve their English in order to apply it into their professional careers, TOEFL classes and even Associated programs for the ones who want to keep building a career. I would definitely recommend this College because of its quality and affordability, once more, if you are an International Student looking forward to take ESL classes, from my personal experience I tell you, you will absolutely learn. By the way, advisers are really helpful, they make the whole enrollment process easier and they are always making sure that you are not missing any details or deadlines. Thank you MCC!

I am really disappointed to say that DePaul has not been a good experience for me. The tuition is…read morereally high considering the quality of education and their rankings just dropped, by a lot. During my 1L year, I had 4 good professors and 2 of them have since left DePaul (I haven't even started my 2L year yet!). On the financial side, they don't budge on scholarships throughout your time there, so even though I ended up in the top quarter of my class, my scholarship is staying the same, while people I know at the bottom half of my class also have the same scholarships for the entire three years, but their scholarships are more than twice what mine is because they got lucky during admission. ...so much for merit. Additionally, DePaul forced us to do something called "Pyramid Points" (yes, I'm serious, this IS law school), which required us to go to various, almost totally pointless, programs that discussed our careers/networking/etc. The problem with Pyramid Points isn't only that they're largely worthless yet time-consuming, it's also that we weren't told that they were mandatory to register for 2L classes until we had already started school! This is turning into a rant so I will stop now, but if you're considering DePaul, I recommend you seriously reconsider a few times before you make your decision.
