The only thing you absolutely have to know, is the location of the library. -Albert Einstein. Hermione Granger would probably agree. I do too. In my childhood, we didn't have the World Wide Web. So the library was not only a source for information but also for entertainment. And most importantly it was and still is free. FREE! Anyhow the Folsom library building is modern and updated with free WiFi and computers with free internet. The library is sectioned into a children's area and the other area for all other materials. There are study areas and lounge seating areas. The building also houses a Friends of the Library bookstore and the Einstein Cafe. The cafe has been closed since COVID hit. The parking lot is shared with the Folsom Lions Park and Zoo Sanctuary. Plus with your library card, you can electronically access eBooks. The catalog includes textbooks. You don't even have to step into the library to check out books. I love libraries but not this one. Plain and simple, the staff gives me heartburn. Unfortunately the majority of the library staff I encountered are not friendly nor helpful. At least to me. But I have hope that maybe one day they will be.

My favorite Children's author growing up, Laura Numeroff, my daughter and I loved it! I placed this item on hold online!

This is our go-to library, you can tell by all the check ins, in fact my fiancé, my 5 year old and I stop by weekly to pick up Books, DVDS and games! Books and DVDs are due in 3 weeks and games are due in 1 week. Items can be renewed when you log into your account online! You can also place items on hold through your account and the library will place them on their hold shelf once they come in! Keep in mind some DVDs may be do in 1 week if they are sent from another library. If on the rare occasion they arrive scratched, one of the librarians can repair them if you bring them to the counter. Some books may be tattered or torn as well, but it doesn't faze us! I would definitely recommend visiting this local library that was built in 2007, conveniently located next to the Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary, Folsom Public Library and Veterans Memorial inside Folsom City Lions Park! Make sure to pay a visit to the Friends of Folsom Library located just down the hall, we'll be stopping by this morning to donate some gently used children's books and purchase some Handmade Father's Day Cards as well to help support the library! Why not make a whole day out of it, with so many things to do all in 1 park, honestly I think it's one of the best/affordable things Folsom has to offer for families alike! We continue to come back, as well as recommend it to our friends, family and visitors! We're excited to sign up in the morning for the Summer Reading Challenge, from now until the end of August you'll receive prizes the more you listen or read, as well as an entry into their $100 gift card drawing after completing the challenge! SYOY! :-)

Besides the Natomas North Library, I would have to say this is one of my favorite libraries. Why? 1) They are stay open late (Tuesdays and Wednesdays 10am-8p) 2) The adult section is huge and is quiet for the most part in the areas where people are studying/reading. 3) There aren't as many homeless people walking around, so you can trust to leave some things out - without the worry someone will take your stuff. There's a nice honorary system, because you see a lot of the same people there working/studying and everyday. 4) This facility is clean; within the library and the bathrooms. 5) There is a coffee shop that sells snacks and sandwiches. 6) Customer service folks working the information desks are nice. ONLY bad thing is at night, the parking lot lighting is very dim so unless you're parked under a dim light, there are sections of the parking lot that are dark. Be mindful if you are staying late.

    Kids Market and toys section.

Love this location, considering I have a kid: it's in a park. Near the Zoo with 2 playgrounds and swings in walking distance plus picnic tables and American River trails right there...not to mention all the BOOKS CDs DVDs and computer stations inside!! But really they have a ton of programs and extras above and beyond just checking out new books for 3 weeks at a time. We love this place on cold days and hot ones alike! Don't forget the Coffee and Ice Cream shop right next door!

    Its attached to the library.

The Folsom library is bright and comfortable. The natural light coming through the windows makes it an enjoyable place to read for a while.

Ask the Community - Folsom Public Library

When is the next Folsom library book group meeting and what is the book that was selected?

Book discussions are always posted on our webpage https://www.library.folsom.ca.us/adult-events/book-discussions, the calendar feature on our website, and also on our Facebook events if you want to follow our page.

Is this public library accessible to all.. do they charge anything?

I would say yes, it's free. I've had a card with them for years and have only had to pay on late book returns. I mostly reserve online and pick up books but it's a great library.

Do you have to have a library card to just come here and study (not checking out any books)?

    No, you do not.

Adj: informative and sufficiently comprehensive…read more An older branch of the Roseville libraries, but a good one! I've been here once before a couple of years ago, but recently, we wanted to stop by again. The library is NOT part of the Placer County library system, which was pointed out to me (I already knew, but it was good to be reminded) as I signed up for a Roseville library card! Did you know that as a CA resident that you can sign up for a library card at locations NOT in your county/city of residence? Yup, you do have to return physical items to one of the branches of whatever library system you borrow from, BUT if you were just using their e-materials like Libby or Hoopla, then it's NO problem! So I decided I wanted another library card, so I quickly applied online (short form) and then went up to the information desk and the librarian/assistant attentively helped me right away and gave me an overview of Roseville's library offerings as well as rules and regulations (and fees/fines). Unlike many other library systems, they DO have late fees here, but I don't plan to borrow physical books or any other kinds of tangible materials, so I won't have to worry about that. Onto the library itself. One side is books for adults (I hesitate to write adult books lest people misunderstand, lol) and there are many shelves of grown up books, so their collection seems quite comprehensive. Next, there's a shelf of Friends of the Library books for sale, not a whole lot, but a respectable amount. Then there's the kids section on the opposite side of the library, and there's a good amount of book stacks on shorter shelves that do not block the view of kids which I finally noticed is the case at like all libraries, lol. Not sure why I never made that connection before. It's a smaller children's area than other libraries, but they tried to make it more cheerful w/more colorful furniture and decorations/posters on the walls. There are also kids' computers that only kids can use so that's good. Finally, there's a community room that's pretty big for meetings and if you want to have a private event or party, it seems you can rent it for reasonable rates (see pics). Outside of that room, there's a courtyard, but I didn't see a way to get out there as the door leading out was locked, maybe it's only for staff to hang out and eat lunch in? I'm not sure, but that meeting room has a lot of nice natural light streaming in b/c of the floor to ceiling windows. Overall, this is an older, but well maintained and kind of quaint library next to Maidu Community Center which is inside the Maidu Regional Park (which I've not yet explore, maybe next time). PS - obligatory bathroom visit: clean, but older, some rust on the metal doors/walls, could use an update on some of the facilities, but everything was functional.

Pretty solid public library in Roseville next to the Maidu Community Center. We came up to attend…read morean event and decided to check out this library. IIRC, we've been here before, but it's been a while. This is an older library from the looks of it, but it's pretty well kept up. It's clean and quite open inside. The bathrooms at near the entrance and they were ok, my kid says it's a little messy inside probably from inconsiderate patrons, but it's still overall clean. Once you enter the library, you'll see the front desk / information desk. The wife had some questions and the staff was helpful to provide the info. Meanwhile, I wandered around a bit. On the left side of the library is the adult section with many rows of book shelves, there's also 1 long wall of books for sale by the Friends of the Library. Not a huge selection, but they had a nice variety for kids and adults alike. The kids area is on the right side of the library, not very big, but good enough. There are also about half a dozen computers dedicated for the kids to use. Towards the back there's a community room you can rent by the half-hour, guess you can't just reserve it for free. You're allowed to use it if no one else is occupying it and it's not being rented out, but for your own event, guess you have to rent it. All in all, this library isn't very big, but it's good-sized enough for the community as there are 2 other libraries operated by the City of Roseville, this library is not part of the Placer County library system, so it's important not to mix them up in case you do check out books from both systems. The look of the library is definitely dated, but it's kept clean and organized and it's nicely set inside the Maidu Regional Park so it feels safe and it's surrounded by nature, we'll definitely visit again.

This is one of the oldest branches of the Sacramento Public Library system if I recall correctly…read more We're not out this way much, but I've been here back when I was a child, and recently visited again. It's a nice library set in a quiet part of the older part of Rancho Cordova. There's a derth of public libraries out here. The next closest one is like in Folsom or East Elk Grove, that's pretty far. So this location definitely serves its purpose for the community out this way. I came on a Saturday morning after dropping off my kid at an activity. I needed a hang out place, so what better place than a quiet library. This morning there were not many people, I found the book my big kid asked my wife to ask me to check out for her and got it all checked out with the self checkout kiosk. After that, I found a quiet spot in the library and started to read and also watch some videos on my phone using the Wi-Fi provided by the library. From my several pictures, you can see the front entrance and yard area are nicely maintained and clean, and although the library itself is older, it's still open and bright inside. Could it use some updating? Probably, but it's not necessary. It looks like they've definitely changed out the carpet and updated some furniture. I hung out for a few hours and then it was time to go. Overall, it was a good time. I enjoy using the public facilities and services I pay for with my tax dollars. You should check out this library and see how they put your tax dollars at work too. ;)
