Experience: I dropped my iPad 3 about six months ago and finally took it in to be repaired. The screen had cracked, but it still worked fine...that is until I went to charge it. It had bent right where the charging port is and I could not recharge. Service: The gentleman that helped me was very cooperative. He called me several times with information on the estimate, completion, and an additional repair. There was some confusion with the bill when I tried to use the YELP checkin, but the manager called me back shortly after to apologize and make it all correct. I was in Vegas last weekend and my car's key faub "unlock" button broke. I have an aftermarket alarm and if I used my key to manually unlock it then the car alarm would go off and stay on even after I put the key in the ignition. Went based on a recommendation to get my dell laptop fan fixed. I was told they were "geniuses" I had my doubts but my computer had been broken for far too long and I use it for work so I couldn't risk it burning out the hard drive. So, it was time to find out. Upon arriving, the guy was super upfront and polite. He asked for a day to diagnose, he said he'd call me around 10 the following morning. I came to Rann and his store about 4 years ago, I just graduated high school and I was finally able to get myself an iPhone with my first job! After having the iPhone for awhile, I noticed the battery percentage was fluctuating and there was a slight numb on the back of the iPhone, I wasn't sure why it did, but I knew I had to get my fixed ASAP! I came across FoneStar I believe through google or Yelp (not too sure 4 years is a long time to remember lol!) Anyway, I was immediately greeted as I walked in, and talked to John (his partner at the time) and told him about my situation. So John let Rann take a look at my phone & told me that the battery was being overcharged that's why it's fluctuating & there's a bump. They told me it's best to get replaced, but continued use of the phone could lead to the battery exploding. I immediately had them take my phone and do their job. #SCAM ALERT# I bought a "refurbished" iPhone 7 Plus from the owner f the store. The phone was scratched but I don't know much about phones and trusted him when he said everything works fine. Within a month the microphone stopped working. I took it back to the store, the owner told me that "all iPhone 7 Plus have the same problem" and there's nothing he can do about it. It sounds ridiculous but I didn't know what else to do. So I paid $400 for a phone that I can never make or take calls or even use the video camera. Thought it was just my bad luck. Until I traveled overseas and contacted my provider to unlock the phone, I was told then there's unpaid bills/installments attached to the phone so they can't unlock it. They suggested me to contact whoever sold me to phone to resolve this. So I couldn't use the phone at all while traveling. When I returned I went back to the store and the owner told me "AT&T just doesn't want people to unlock their phones and they always say the same thing" I didn't buy that BS at all. But the owner refused to take any responsibility, saying that he will lose money otherwise. I did some research online and apparently this happens quite a bit to people who buy phones on Craigslist/eBay/unknown sources. I didn't expect for this to happen at a store, with a sign and a storefront and even a yelp page. So I strongly suggest anyone to STAY AWAY from the store. So I came in here last week to see if they could unlock my iPhone 5s coz I wanna switch from AT&T to TMobile. They said it wouldn't be a problem and it'll only take 20 minutes, at the same time the technician guy noticed the small crack on the top right corner of my front screen. He offered to do it for $99.99 and he'll throw in a free screen protector if I said yes. And thus I said yes. And since he convinced me to do the cracked screen he promised me that he'll be done with both jobs in 30minutes OR IT'S FREE!!!!!!! 28minutes and 19seconds later (yes I timed him) holy cow!! Honestly, I admit, I am very careless with my phone. That being said, I have brought my phone to several places to be repaired. Going to a new shop, I was somewhat skeptical. The previous shop I used charged me a lot, and did very poor quality work (back popped off days after I had it replaced). I was referred to Fone Star through a friend. She told me they did great work and were very affordable. I am so relieved she referred me to this shop! The people are great, they work fast and are so affordable! Update Aug 2015. - I'd recommend calling before you head to this shop. The last two visits, they weren't there during their posted business hours. Today, they weren't there at 10:30am Sat morning with an opening posted from 10am to 7pm. Now it's 12noon, still nothing. Called them and they said maybe they could get there by 3pm. Found another phone repair company close by; near Toys R Us. That place replaced the iPhone 5 screen for $85 and it took 17 minutes. Had a Samsung Note 2 screen go dead w/o any warning. I figured out that the phone still worked through an adapter and using a computer monitor. These folks replaced the bad screen. It was pricey ($250) since they had to get the whole screen assembly, not just the glass front, picked it up next morning and worked great. Few days later, had them fix the house cell phone (old Galaxy S Vibrant) sim chip connectors, $40 and ready next morning. Few weeks later, had them fix a cracked screen on the family member iPad 2, took a few hours and $99. Service solid, pricing fair, quality of work very good. I hear about repair places popping up all over with pricing all over the map and mixed reviews, but I'd recommend these folks. They only took cash on my three visits. If your waiting for your repair, there's an above average Ross store in the parking lot. Update: dropped by with cracked screens on iPhone 5s, iPad 2, fixed same day about $170 total. read more

However, when I got my phone back, the person who "fixed" it replaced my screen but messed up my home button to where the sensor for my fingerprint didn't work anymore (mind you, it worked fine before bringing it in) He told me that it was because of the way I dropped my phone and that it was unfixable. I don't know if it was put in incorrectly or what because it can barely handle any pressure. My screen cracked by me merely touching it.
