Best chocolate chip cookie we have ever eaten - soft, thick, chocolaty heaven. Worth every penny. The turkey pesto sandwich was a solid choice as was the warm roast beef and Gouda sandwich. I wish the turkey can on a room temp croissant - that is my only criticism. Coffee was also good. The setting was upscale but cozy - a unique setting. Great service. Highly recommend. We grabbed sandwiches on our way to Spokane airport to eat at Fonks and enjoyed our cookies on the plane. We will definitely make a habit out of this. read more

A really cute cafe that I didn't expect to find in this very small town named Colfax. Went in for a early morning coffee fix before heading to Hanford . When I say cute I mean it am not throwing it around casually. Their clientele are people who cross the town while passing by but they have ensured to style the places like we would sew in the cities. They have a few snacks like muffins, brownies and biscotti's . They also had a small menu for sandwiches As chicken was not available I skipped getting a sandwich and settled for a brew flavored with almond mocha. My husband got himself a chai "tea" (I hope for the day where we can all agree that it's chai and not chai tea. Sigh!!!) The server and the lady who appeared to be the owner worked their way through the few customers they had. I liked my almond mocha brew. It wasn't really what I was expecting but it was what it was :). My husband is very picky about his chai and ends up very unhappy when he gets a crappy concoction but he said this was ok. If you are travelling from Seattle to Eastern WA stop by here for a pick me up. read more

Stopped by for a quick break to grab something small and fast. I got the fresh fruit smoothie with strawberry and substituted my milk with almond milk. Also got a turkey bacon sandwich, small coffee, mini cinnamon roll. The mini cinnamon roll was dry and crumbly but the sandwich was good. Everything about the place was awesome. This is the only place I stop when I'm in Colfax and need something to eat. The food is as excellent as the service is. The panini sandwiches are nice and served hot. Adding to the near-perfect score of Fonk's ... ! Hubs and I were passing through Colfax on our way from Pullman, WA to Eddington. OMG, SO glad we found this place! It popped up on a list of places located in our Garmin GPS as one of several restaurants located on Main St., Colfax, but we would've been even more convinced had we Yelp'd it first! As others note, the ambiance is absolutely charming! Fonk's appears to be a huge old store that was sectioned off so that the front 15' are dedicated to the co-ho. The entire front of the cafe is just a bank of large windows, looking out onto the street and letting in the sun! Several tables and even a long bench provide adequate seating inside. Even better: the FOOD! We ordered lunch, and were really impressed with the quality and freshness of the food. I had the turkey/pesto sandwich on a croissant; hubs had the chicken salad sandwich on a croissant. We both ordered a side salad of fresh peas, with grated Parmigiano Reggiano and baco-bits. That alone was worth the stop. Our cappuccinos were also perfect! The beans were roasted to perfection - no flavor of burnt ash like so many other coffee places. The gal at the cash register was SUPER-DUPER friendly, even giving us tips on the local photography scene. My only suggestion to this place is: ALWAYS have someone visible from the street view! When we drove by, parked, and even walked past the shop, we saw NO ONE in the window. We actually thought they were closed? But then, we saw a single customer go in, and the gal came out from the back to wait on that customer. YES! We came in, took a table, and no kidding, about 5 other customers also wandered in. They had a sandwich board outside saying they were open for lunch, but with no lights on inside (during the day time) we simply didn't know! Just have a gal there behind the counter and a visible OPEN sign in the window. Plenty of business will follow. I would absolutely not hesitate to recommend this place or return again when in the area. Very charming place with great food and friendly service is what sets this place apart from any other in Colfax. read more

I never knew about this place until I had to be in Colfax for Jury duty. Then I drove by and thought, wait, what? Mod-scale, semi-hip coffee spot in Colfax? Honestly the coolest thing that I knew came out of Colfax was Turner Classic Movie Host Robert Osborne. Did I screech on my brakes and try the coffee? Yes, and lunch! My party enjoyed a grilled ham and cheese sandwich: generous portion, enough to share. Savory and quite worth the stop. Corn and chile soup hit the spot. Good Doma coffee. I had drip, it was strong, almost an espresso. I personally enjoy intense flavor, but mellow enough to not call it a bite. That's just me. A heavenly coffee cake.
