I wish the experience I had was better to report. First off, my friend and I arrived with ample time before our reservation, and were unhappy to find out that there was some sort of children's tea being hosted this afternoon. While it's an adorable idea, it was not the environment I was looking for on my birthday, and had it been advertised ANYWHERE on the business's website, we would have chosen to have gone elsewhere from the start. Because it wasn't, we weren't aware it was happening until we got to the restaurant and were already excited to try the place out. We asked to be sat away from the table with kids that was already there, and as there were two tables about to open up and a table that was already open, we didn't think it would be an issue. The couple that had gotten there before us (but told us they didn't have a reservation) was seated first and very far away from the table with children. We, on the other hand, were seated directly next to the two women who were entirely focused on their mimosas and were thus allowing their children to play loudly with toys at the table. I understand a business being busy, and maybe this place just isn't for me, but I was so excited for it, and we didn't even stay long enough to order. If you're going to be holding a special event, post about it, especially if it's themed. Otherwise, you're just going to have unhappy (would be) customers.

This was not noted in the website when I made a reservation, but the result was chaos. We arrived early and noted our concern about noise, wanting a quieter repast experience. So in response, they sat us directly next to the children click-clacking on noisemakers. I validate that I probably sound crotchety but I adore a formal tea; this had the makings of that experience looking at the menu, but the ambiance is not ever going to allow that. It's wide open and echoing, the servers are visibly stressed out and running between tables and the guy at the front apologized and said it was his second day. It was unwelcoming and unpleasant. Strong suggestion: delineate a front waiting area, even if small. Place a bench there to hold folks in a civil manner and place a few screens to absorb the noise. Add some life, like plants. Space your reservations out just a touch more, give your servers time to work out the bugs while you grow. Tea should be an experience and a luxury. For heavens sake if you're going to forgo the luxury for a day to accommodate the children and dolls, make that extremely obvious on your website to the rest of us and we might come back on another day.
