I've been wanting to try this brewery out for a very long time, but it just doesn't make sense to make the drive only for this. It's about 50+ minutes from Asheville. When I was hiking in the area today, it was a perfect time to stop by. Situated on an old farm, the space is beautiful. It has rolling acres and beautiful wildflowers. Plenty of parking. The indoor space had great music playing, but we opted to sit outside. If you are not under the porch area, which is small, you will be out in the middle of a field, which would be quite hot in the summer. We snagged some nice deck chairs. I have always loved their beers/other drinks. They have some adventurous flavors and unique options that aren't too kitschy. it's like they actually use local ingredients and come up with intelligent combinations. Their marketing/graphics is also incredibly beautiful all the time. But it's not a beautiful place - it is also amazing quality and taste. I always love their topsy choices. Today they had a slushy with cucumber mint, but I opted for some thing that I had not had previously. They have some really interesting other beers/barley wines on draft. I had something with the word razz in it and it was delicious. Like everything. I wanted to take some to go, but unfortunately you have to commit to four of kind. I know, sometimes Whole Foods sells them individually. Unfortunately, the food truck seems to only operate Thursday through the weekend so we missed it. They do have some chips and ice cream on site if you need a snack. I'd love to see other locations.

So many fabulous beers from which to choose. I asked if I could get half pours and the answer was yes. So I ordered a half pour of the double IPA and was presented with a full pour. He offered to dump it and give me a half but I couldn't imagine wasting the beer so I accepted (and paid for) the full pour. Then our group ordered a few other items including two slushy type beverages which were very refreshing and I highly recommend trying them. We sat outside on one of the many picnic tables - with umbrellas! Yay for sun shade. The view is beautiful. The parking lot was full when we arrived but the service was quick. We ordered from the food truck and I don't believe they are affiliated with the brewery but their offerings were unique and tasty. The brewery is near the big lake but about an hour or so east of Asheville. Go check it out.

vibes, food trucks, music, and beer is always on point! a beautiful sunset to boot did not hurt either.

Awesome beers! Tried several getting a flight and took home some Daffopilz Flats. Paired with a fig bacon pizza that was sensational. Staff were really friendly and helpful with the beer choices. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Perfect place to go after a hike around Lake James :)[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

What a gorgeous place to spend an afternoon after a nice hike in Asheville! I've been wanting to visit Fonta Flora since we started researching a trip to Asheville and I'm glad we made it on our second time in town! This place is definitely off the beaten path but oh so worth the drive! All of their beers have locally sourced ingredients when possible like the Paw Paw fruit sour we had on this visit which was quite possibly one of the best beers I've ever had. They have a large tap list full of sours, IPAs, and other interesting beers all while keeping in mind local ingredients. This location also has a pizza food truck on site which was delicious and I'll review separately - all in all one of the most scenic breweries I've ever been to with some of the most unique beers. I'll definitely be back some day!

Nice mix of chairs and picnic tables super spread out so everyone could just relax

Yep. This is the spot. Absolutely fantastic beers and probably one of the best locations we've ever had the pleasure of visiting. It's just gorgeous, everyone was super nice and we loved our beer. Can't wait to go back if we are ever up that way again.

We were at the further back picnic table. I can imagine on warm days they fill up fast.

Best beers, selection, and ambiance you'll find anywhere. Try any of the IPAs or the Wild Ales!

Friendly staff and, even when power went out from a storm, they were accommodating. Always great drink.

What's the move here food-wise? We're meeting folks from out of town here, and apparently there won't be any food trucks there that day. Is there a local barbecue place or any other kind of restaurant nearby that we should pick up from? Thanks!

We came on a Tuesday afternoon after hitting a couple breweries in the Mills River area . The area that the taproom in is really beautiful with mature trees and it's a huge facility . We parked and walked inside and headed to the bar. I got a flight and my boyfriend got an IPA. I thought the beers were really good and I liked that there was some that you couldn't find anywhere else . We also ordered some duck fries that were so dang good . As we waited for our food , we went to do a self tour of the brewery and that was great to see the history of Sierra Nevada and the different rooms that the processing occurred in. After our food we cashed out and took the remainder of our beers to their outdoor area . Once you pass by their amphitheater you went down this trail towards a little river and we went farther still and there was this whole field of yard games and tables that you could sit and enjoy right next to the rushing river (French Broad River) . All the staff that we encountered with was very nice and knowledgeable. Just a really fun atmosphere to be in where even the staff looked like they were enjoying themselves . I would highly highly recommend stopping in!

The waitress explained that menu is designed to be shared but the items were things like salad and a burger. I'm not sure into sharing a burger. So it was just weird to be explained the menu is a 'shareable' approach but the items were challenging to share. The vibe of the place felt like they were trying to be the fanciest brewery around and bring California to Western North Carolina. It was just really uppity. Personally, we like our breweries more local feelings. With so many other options in the area, we won't be back.
