Sweet potato burrito bowl (front), warm brussels sprouts caesar salad (center), sweet potato taco (back)

If you're hiking at Catawba Falls, visiting Old Fort, NC, you live there or are just passing through on I-40, there's a new combination Mexican restaurant and small batch distillery/brewery where the food is innovative, healthy and tasty and they serve some great craft-brewed beer and cocktails made (mostly) with their own spirits. They even also have CBD infused drinks, if that's more your thing. The location is in downtown Old Fort in an old building that they have nicely rehabbed. Not fancy, but open and comfortable, with a nice bar area. The service was welcoming, friendly and efficient. Having just finished a hike, we started with a couple of cold brews. Their selection of house-brewed beer is limited (basically light, dark and IPA, along with a cider). We opted for a dark lager, which they described as Mexican style. It was excellent. Not too dark, but with some real character and very smooth (no bitterness, no bite). To accompany the beers, we started with the chips and elote dip. I've had what's often called Mexican street corn in several restaurants in various forms (on and off the cob). Often the corn is nothing special and it's simply loaded up with cotija cheese. Here the corn itself is the star of the show. It's roasted, off the cob, and well seasoned, with only a light coating of cotija. Very tasty! For his entree my husband had the brussels sprouts caesar salad. There are lots of places in the Asheville area that pan roast brussels sprouts, usually with maple or some sort of light sugaring. In this version, the sprouts were nicely pan roasted, but not sweet. They are served warm, mixed with chicharron (pork rinds), parmesan cheese and caesar dressing, with a roasted lemon on the side. My husband loved this dish so much he said he'd drive from Asheville to Old Fort occasionally just to have this. Nothing quite like it anywhere else! He also had a sweet potato taco on the side. He said it was good, but not exceptional (at least compared to the brussels sprouts). I had a sweet potato burrito, but done as a bowl instead of a traditional wrapped burrito (all their burritos are available either way). It was very good. The pieces of sweet potato were crispy on the outside and just soft enough on the inside. The beans, rice, Oaxaca queso and pico de gallo had very good flavor and worked well with the sweet potatoes. I missed that you could add sauteed peppers and onions, or I would have added those, too. We were stuffed after the appetizer, the entrees, and the beers. Lots of great options on the cocktail menu. The people sitting next to us were raving about their granny smith daquiris. The distillery is operational now with tours and tastings planned in the near future. Their spirits are competitively priced for small-batch venues. Since there wasn't a way to taste them yet (except in a cocktail, and we had beer instead), I couldn't review the spirits yet. We'll definitely be back for more food and to try the spirits!

My wife and I tried this place tonight. It's a new place in our area. You are greeted at the door and taken to your table. The place looked very clean and nice. They brought some water to our table that was room temperature. I'm not a fan of room temperature water. The waitress came to our table was very nice and talked with us about the menu and gave her suggestions. Not a big menu and it seamed it had a Mexican theme. We started with the chips and queso which was very good. I had a pork carnitas burrito. It was okay, I hoped it would have more spice in it but it was not bad at all. I also had a fish taco that the waitress made sound so good. I did enjoy that, I am a big fan of Cod. My wife had three tacos. Pork, Beef and Sweet Potato. She enjoyed them. The prices were not bad at all. We will probably be back. I have attached pictures of the food and the menu.

Booked a private cocktail class where we got to learn all about the history of Cultivated…read moreCocktails, the liquors that they distill, and their partnerships within the community, all while sipping on samples of their liquors! We were able to sample 4 liquors and 4 liqueur. For the liquors, we samples rum, two types of gin, and vodka. All had high ABVs but the rum and vodka had very light flavors without the usual bite at the end! Their regular gin had a strong juniper taste, while their Shades of Rose Gin carried a lighter, fruitier taste. For Liqueurs, we were able to sample their Appalachian Aperetif, Ginger Cordial, Creme de Cacao, and Coffee Liqueur. My top three were the Shades of Rose Gin, the Ginger Cordial, and the Coffee Liqueur. After choosing our top three samples, our mixologist made us three half cocktails from our selections. The class was amazing, the drinks were amazing, and our mixologist was amazing! The cost of the class was $30 per person.

The owners and staff were so welcoming--I walked in a stranger and left feeling like a friend. I only wish I didn't live all the way in Indiana because this would absolutely be my go-to place. Highly recommend the Caprese flatbread and the Morning After drink, both were so delicious!

One truly remembers a place this wonderful. Located in beautiful quaint Jonesboro, there are many uniques shops and restaurants. Tennessee Hills offers tastings. The personnel are knowledgeable and friendly. We have had some of the best conversations with the staff and customers. This time we had lunch at the cafe next door. Fantastic food choices the Reuben and spicy chicken sandwiches get my highest recommendation. They offer a great number of mixed drinks made with their craft distilled spirits. Several Sunday football games were on the TVs in the cafe. The mood was festive in the cafe. Tennessee Hills has a new location in Bristol too! We will be back again and again!

From our parking spot, we spotted Tennessee Hills Distillery and knew we needed to check it out. The Tennessee Hills Distillery opened in the historic Salt House of Jonesborough in 2016. We were immediately impressed with the downtown area of Jonesborough and the salt house in which Tennessee Hills Distillery is located. The building itself is amazing and is something that we would love to have as our own. We are drawn to historic commercial buildings that are being preserved and renovated to house businesses and/or homes. After walking inside, we were even more impressed. They were offering complimentary tastings and we decided to participate. We thought the pineapple upside down cake rum was delicious. They have a wide selection of liquor ranging from whiskey, flavored whiskey, rum, flavored rum, gin and vodka. They also have some nice SWAG for purchase and unique gift items. We purchased a bottle of their Pineapple Upside Down Cake Rum to give to our good friends. Overall, this was a great visit and we highly recommend to others.

Parking was easy (you can park on the grass) and the location is easy to find. Walked in and was immediately welcomed with a smile! I was offered some samples before buying what I truly wanted. The crowd was so friendly too, looks like I'm not the only one that comes independently. I was sampled the regular moonshine, peach, amaretto and the peanut butter. Holy crap! All of them were so delicious. Not too sweet, not too alcoholic-ly. It was the perfect amount to get you buzzed. I ended up going home with the original and peach... but man if I lived here, I would get all the flavors. I can't wait to share my mason jars with my boyfriend! I recommend this place to anyone, especially if you're going to come here alone. The staff makes you feel, so not alone. Their moonshine is a little bit on the pricey side, but it's a huge mason jar and the quality is top notch. They were so nice to even bag it up for me, get it prepared to bring it back home! I am definitely coming back here next time I'm in NC. * The staff here are also Star Wars lovers, it's a WIN WIN!

They taught us all about their products and we thoroughly enjoyed what we tasted. The winner for our group were the coffee-flavored moonshine, the amaretto flavored, and the peach. Enjoyed but not purchased was the apple one, the name of which escapes me. It tasted like the liquid part of an apple pie and finished tasting like a cinnamon broom from christmastime. Highly recommend stopping in if you can.
