The pros: lovely grounds that are well maintained. The cons: The menu is really small and doesn't offer a lot of options. The waitress explained that menu is designed to be shared but the items were things like salad and a burger. I'm not sure into sharing a burger. So it was just weird to be explained the menu is a 'shareable' approach but the items were challenging to share. The vibe of the place felt like they were trying to be the fanciest brewery around and bring California to Western North Carolina. It was just really uppity. Personally, we like our breweries more local feelings. With so many other options in the area, we won't be back. read more

A really unusual experience i would not expect as I've been there many times. The hostess the afternoon of the 8th, tall lady with dyed blond hair in a pony tail about 45yrs old-was very rude. We walked in from the parking lot, my wife asked how hot it was on the outside tables, in a passive aggressive sarcastic tone-"Well you just walked in from outside-so it will be like that." Guess what IT WAS COOLER-IT WAS COVERED, IT HAD FANS -some places have misting systems too. It wasn't like the parking lot at all...but she was so rude that my polite wife just bit her tongue. But as her husband I wanted to tell her off-especially after sitting at a nice cool outdoor table. The older lady that took us to our table was sweet, smiling and kind. Our server was fantastic, the people that delivered the food had smiles. What a beautiful place. Came for dinner and music. Service was really good and we ordered a hamburger with fries and for me a vegan tofu green curry bowl. Food came out fairly quick and was delicious. My green curry was not with coconut milk but with actual broth. Which was very good. My partner had a hamburger with fries. If you're in this neck of the woods, I highly recommend checking out the Taproom as well as the brewery tour. The location and setting is absolutely stunning! Although the restaurant was super busy and crowded, our amazing server was efficiently navigating multiple tables & some large groups no less. The beer flight was fun & the perfect way to try out several types of Sierra Nevada brews on a hot day. The duck fat fries were amazingly good...It was sprinkled generously with chunks of duck meat. The ginger soy wings were phenomenal ...cooked just right & seasoned perfectly. To justify the fries & wings, we also ordered the wood fired veggies, which were also very good. We had an amazing time here. This place is really much more than just your average brewery and I am so glad we stopped here on our way to Asheville. We came on a Tuesday afternoon after hitting a couple breweries in the Mills River area . The area that the taproom in is really beautiful with mature trees and it's a huge facility . We parked and walked inside and headed to the bar. I got a flight and my boyfriend got an IPA. I thought the beers were really good and I liked that there was some that you couldn't find anywhere else . We also ordered some duck fries that were so dang good . As we waited for our food , we went to do a self tour of the brewery and that was great to see the history of Sierra Nevada and the different rooms that the processing occurred in. After our food we cashed out and took the remainder of our beers to their outdoor area . Once you pass by their amphitheater you went down this trail towards a little river and we went farther still and there was this whole field of yard games and tables that you could sit and enjoy right next to the rushing river (French Broad River) . All the staff that we encountered with was very nice and knowledgeable. Just a really fun atmosphere to be in where even the staff looked like they were enjoying themselves . Sierra Nevada has been tried and true. This taproom is nearly identical to the location in Chico, CA except that it is set in a larger area. Coming here felt like entering princess castle, which is impressive. We did the tour and were really into it except the forced "ecological initiative" talking points. As can be expected in Asheville. Tour guide told us they sell their spent hops and grains to farmers feeding cattle, hilarious when you consider every other brewery does that. If y'all cared that much for the environment you'd give it away to farmers like other breweries do... Also can't take inside food outside which is hilarious too.. read more

Made a trip to do a brewery tour all the way from Greenville SC. Tour was fun, beer tasting set up in a tasteful manner and the tour guide very pleasant and unhurried. Ambiance at the taproom 10/10, food: pizza decent, pimento cheese and chips not so much. Service not sure why, but there were two menus, one for patio (picture outdoors, beautiful views, nice setting, comfortable seating) and one for inside. Patio menu was very sparse, very afterthought-ish but same prices. That was mildly annoying, especially after the light buzz from the 'hazy little thing' etc... Took a long weekend up to Asheville and had to stop in here. It is so close to the airport you almost have to drive through it to get to town. Beautiful campus! You can tell they spent a lot of money and time to set this place up. Large dinning area. Got a table easily. Perused the beer and food menu. Got a flight of the beer. My fav was the Pilsner and the sunny. All were tasty. For food we got the meatballs. Really good. Tasty red sauce and enough for two. Sierra Nevada Taproom exceeded our expectations! This was a recommendation from a local when we were visiting Asheville. Let me say that this is the best food that I've ever had at a brewery! My son, husband, and I visited on a Monday for a late lunch and were seated right away. Our server was patient as we tried to figure out what we wanted. My son fully enjoyed the meatballs! My husband and I shared the one of the seasonal salads and the burger. Both were excellent! We couldn't pass up the fries and honestly, I could have eaten these by myself. Crispy and salty on the outside and tender on the inside. We ended the meal with bread pudding which I would highly recommend. On, we can't forget the beer! My husband had a flight and I sipped on a light beer. Service was superb. Don't forget to check out the outside area behind the taproom. There are some relaxing sitting areas and it's a beautiful place to chill. There is a short walking trail, but it was closed when we visited in November 2025. During a trip to Asheville, NC, I stopped by for a tour of the Sierra Nevada Brewery and Taproom. It's a modern facility that is spacious and impressive. This is the East Coast headquarters for the company which sparked the craft beer revolution in the U.S. (its original HQ is in Chico, CA). Even if you're not a fan of Sierra Nevada beer, the food is excellent in the taproom with good service. The outdoor space is relaxing and festive if the weather is nice. I think this is a good place. I liked the overall vibe here, as there is a field area here, as well as boche ball courts. However, there was a misunderstanding when trying to get bocce balls. I thought that you had to pay $20 to use the bocce balls, but I wanted to edit my review to clarify that it is only a deposit that is given back once the balls are returned. As for the food, my Carolina Kettle Walking Nachos were also pretty good, although I would've preferred for a larger portion of nachos, despite being labeled as "walker" nachos. However, I came here with my mom's vegetarian family and my dog, and we were not able to sit together because there wasn't a lot of vegetarian options on the Back Porch menu, and we weren't able to sit inside because of our dog. I would suggest adding some more regular items that could be vegetarian to the porch menu, like pizza and salads. My family also paid $10 for a kids hot dog, it was just a hotdog and a bun with a side bag of potato chips. We thought this was pretty overpriced for what it was. I've been here before and have had good experiences and I hope to have more the next time I visit- we just won't bring our dog so we can eat from the taproom menu. . read more

My family and I visited Sierra Nevada Taproom while vacationing in the Asheville area. When we drove up to the entrance we were welcomed with a beautiful drive up to the brewery which, surprisingly, was much larger than any of us expected. Before we sat down for dinner at the restaurant, we decided to walk up to the second floor for the self guided tour. If you don't participate in a guided tour, I highly recommend a self guided tour at least. You will really get an appreciation for the size of the facility and everything that is offered here. Be sure to make it all the way to the end where you will find the packaging area. Since we didn't sign up for the guided tour we didn't participate in a tasting. Instead once we sat down at the restaurant, several of us ordered a flight of beers. We ordered a total of 3 flights all with different beers, so we were able to taste a total of 12 beers. As part of our entertainment, we decided as a table that we would do a taste test and rate each beer. For dinner we ordered 3 pepperoni pizzas which was perfect for the 6 of us. The pizza was good. It wasn't too thin and it wasn't too thick. After dinner we walk on the back patio which again was huge and looked like a fun place. They had a big bonfire going which added to the ambiance. This is our yearly (or sometimes bi-yearly?) tradition, always in conjunction with our October trip to Asheville...whether it be the Blueridge Parkway, Downtown Asheville, or Cherokee. I've always referred to this place as the "Biltmore of breweries". From the long drive way to the huge and amazing facility; this place has it all. I humbly believe that no trip to Asheville is complete unless you've been here and I will die on that hill. We didn't make reservations but we put our name down for one when we got there and then just got drinks and snacks in the meantime. They have a limited menu option for if you're not sitting down. I recommend getting a table though so you can get the full menu. We shared the chicken wings which are crazy small but you can strip the meat right off the bone! Perfect bite size. We moved to the east coast from California and my husband went to school in Chico. When we discovered the other Sierra Nevada was close to Asheville we had to go. I am sad that we didn't have enough time to book a brewery tour, but it is definitely something we will do next time. We started off with a pretzel and beer cheese. The pretzel was soft and chewy. The beer cheese was good enough, but not the best beer cheese I had ever had. This place still gets 5/5 rating. My husband had the house pizza (I didn't get a picture) and I had the pale ale burger. I have never eaten a burger with pub cheese on it before but I would happily only eat this burger for the rest of my life if I could find the pub cheese (or make it...is there's recipe?). This burger was a 20/10. My husband rates the pizza 20/10. It was all that good. I ordered the big little thing loaded s'mores for dessert and it was amazing. Peanut butter, fudge, potato chips...there is some genius behind whomever invented this recipe. I tried a pint of the Weizenbock and very highly recommend this flavor profile. It is not a sweet beer but has a sweet flavor and I don't know how to better explain this. The flavor profile is banana,clove, fresh bread, and custard and it was perfection. My only complaint is that I cannot buy this anywhere. Service was very attentive. If you are wondering if you should head over to Mills River to see the brewery, do it. My coworkers and I had two days in Asheville and the Sierra Nevada Taproom came highly recommended from locals that we spoke with. Over the next two days we visited twice for meals and once for drinks. From the Hostess stand to the Servers, both inside and out, the service was stellar. At our dinner the second night, our Server, Danielle, was spot-on with her service and recommendations. The vibe inside the taproom is that of a large, high-end brewery while outside, the garden walk and walking trails through the woods down to the river, provides for a beautiful place to walk, drink, relax, listen to live music and enjoy Nature or just sharing a table with others over a beer. The Taproom also offers tours, guided and self-guided, that offers amazing insight into how such a large brewer develops, makes and ships large quantities of beer. If you're in the Asheville area then the Sierra Nevada Taproom is a must-visit! I'd definitely recommend getting reservations because the dining room can be quite busy all day. This place is amazing and fully lives up to the hype. In my mind I wrongly assumed a place this huge would be a cool tourist spot but lacking in food and I was definitely wrong! The food was excellent and despite only ordering a cheese pizza and a pretzel appetizer the server was no less attentive and friendly. He started asking if we had been there before and explaining how everything works. There's also an outdoor snack type menu and a place to get drinks outside. You can also sit upstairs. The grounds are stunning and spacious and as a parent my husband and I loved that they had a little closed in area for children with ample benches for parents and toys. Right off the plane, we came to Sierra Nevada a bit after its 11am opening, and there were already a handful of people there. We didn't intend to spend too much time here, but we had such a nice time that we stayed about two hours. You can't beat the back area. There's lots of seating, a garden, fire pit, small kid play area, and lots of places for photo ops. The beer selection was huge! The backyard food menu is small but had some goodies, like a snack cup. (Great caramel popcorn!) Super clean and just a great vibe overall. Went to dinner with my Bestie in the taproom restaurant . I had reservations for 645 and didn't even get there for 15 to 18 minutes later than that due to traffic . I called ahead of time to let them know that we were arriving late and they were so amenable! Also, I had GA tickets for the concert with Steep Cannon Rangers and they knew it so add needing to go to the concert to running late. They were spiritedly accommodating and friendly to get us fed and out to the concert! Every single staff member we came across was completely efficient and wonderful! A secluded place. Esthetically, it's so beautiful from the outside. Everything is clean. I felt like I was arriving at a theme park for grown ups.
