It was warm, a little breezy, but the vibes were there and everyone was happy mingling, drinking, just a typical ATX night out on Rainy. Now yes, some of the charm has left. Little by little every few years something disappears, and something new comes in. The people make up for the "charm" feel. We remember what once was. Little houses that once held family dinners and birthday backyard parties are now bars. Gutted out of the family photos hanging on the walls, to neon signs barring a beer logo. Rainy Street is still charm for those that once knew it and hold it in our hearts. We make the charm because we knew, and we pass that vibe to the college kids (sorry, but you are still kids) that spend their whole weekend night letting lose and being just that, fun kids experiencing life, not corporate life, but life life. It's up to us mature Rainy Street goers to show these kids how it's done. IMO Rainy Street. Bar hoping at its bests. Charming street. Decorated for the season. Come at Christmas, it's a ball! Everything is walkable. Some really nice higher end restaurants have moved in. It's a nice place to start out your night. You will find college kids here. But you'll also see birthday party groups, bachelorette parties, bachelor parties just people having fun, enjoying life. You'll see mature, older men and women with their, "I'm still 28" in my mind. (Me, I'm that woman) They do have a small food truck area too. So when you're looking for something quick, give these food trucks a go. They are pretty good. And they have seating so you can chill, and get back at it. I only saw 1 parking lot. It was $50. For 3 hours. And $55 for 6 hours. Uber in, car pool, or find parking a block or 2 away. Come to Rainy Street. Spend the night here. Grab some dinner, a few cocktails, bar hop up and down the street. Be young, be a kid, life's short.

We make several loops through the park, keeping count of all the deer. Typically around 10 each time we walk. Be careful though, they may pop out in front of you on the trail. As will many bikers passing you "ON YOUR LEFT!" I've not seen any other big animals to be aware of during the day. When it is exceptionally busy, the bikers do seem to be prevalent and it is important to keep your dog (and kids) close. We enjoy this park though due to our proximity to it and ease of walking. It wasn't quite shaded enough to frequent in the summertime though.

Love the local cats that wander around and live in some of the stores. The cats look homeless, but they are domesticated street cats. The stores have a lot of amazing locally made items - a lot of talented artists. One store - the bird and pear had fun stickers, art work and sauces, a lot of souveniers available. The prices were decent for a tourist area. There was a least one store that has a sign posted, no photos allowed in the store. Please be aware and respectful of these requests. I would love to be able to go back at some point when more stores are open.

The area is charming and has some interesting historic buildings, but many of the shops and galleries felt quiet, which made the experience a little underwhelming. I enjoyed walking through the village and appreciating the architecture and atmosphere, but it lacked the energy I was expecting. I can see how it would be much more enjoyable during a special event, festival, or later in the day when more businesses are open and there are more visitors around. It's a pleasant place to stroll through if you're nearby, but I would recommend checking the hours and event schedule before visiting to get the most out of the experience.

I spent five days in Austin and came back to the spot twice! Has the best vibes, great staff, cool swag (love the Sunday bag and country club shirts)and a great beverage selection. Depending on the time that you go, there might be a wait, so grab a drink and enjoy practicing chipping, putting, cornhole, or socializing. The course has fun billboards (Caddyshack and Ron ) and comical Greenskeepers. I was impressed by how nice the greens are. Honestly, much better than some of my local 18 public courses! Restrooms are clean and easy to access. Two unisex so plan accordingly :) I cannot emphasize enough, how amazing their customer service is. This is a great spot run by great people.

I'm almost 60 years old and I was welcomed with open arms. I met a guy that laid the sod for the rebuild and he was telling the reads on the greens. I then bumped into some great guys, Anthony and Henry that let me join them as there a little wait. I kept meeting fun people enjoying golf and 100 degree weather in July. You will also find a kids playscape, two sandy volleyball courts, a large basketball court area, public bathrooms, and two separate dog parks. The dog park for the larger dogs is very spacious with lots of covered seating and room to run. Another nice attribute is the wide paved sidewalk that runs along Lake Creek for quite some distance which is perfect for biking or hiking. The park itself is about 8 to 10 acres in size. There's lots of covered and uncovered picnic tables on the property and plenty of green space. You can park at the pool or drive past it where you'll see much more parking in back. Definitely a very nice public park to visit for a picnic or to bring the dog. Plenty of pictures included for more insight.
