They offer cold & hot subs, homemade pasta fishes, salads, appetizers, and more. I liked that their menu was a "build your own pasta" format where you picked a noodle, sauce, then option to add meat or upgrade your bread side to garlic bread. Overall, prices were a premium but portions were a good size. I highly recommend checking out their daily specials so save some money on visiting and enjoying. I ordered the Cavatelli Ala Vodka, added italian sausage, and kept my bread plain. The food was made pretty fast but I really enjoyed the taste of everything. This is like a hidden gem sitting right next to Jewel-Osco. We always order capri and Italian, my picky eater loves the 6" Italian sandwich. Maybe next time we will try their pasta. We have not eaten at their restaurant as we always buy to go. Even thought it is to go, they really take time to listen to your orders and they are fast. The sandwiches are packed nicely and labeled. Never have I heard "Shit happens" spewed by someone in a business--not just once but twice. They did not plan for our reservation placed more than 24 hours earlier. Their casual way of letting customers seat themselves left the back room unacceptable--there was no way to set up for six. Another table was set up, but another group walked in and claimed it before we sat down. As we were quietly debating whether to place a carry-out order or to find another restaurant, the manager yelled at us. His behavior is unacceptable. We will never return. read more

We were over charged by$5 tonight. Menu price was 16.95 for lasagna and we were charged $17.95. Pork chop meal was listed as 21.95 and we were charged $25.95. When this was pointed out to the waiter he said the menus weren't updated and there was nothing he could do. Also, called my husband "boss", which was not appreciated. Just set my child down on the counter on the side to look at the menu and he put his foot up - as I was telling him to put his feet down a cook on the line yelled at him/me to take him down people eat on there. I 100% understand and agree that's why I was telling him to get down but don't yell at your customers especially a child. My kid was jarred and practically in tears and we left. I gave this place several chances over a period of time. My co-workers eat here, but they will eat anything. Here are my takeaways from about 6 occasions where my job ordered us food. I have won the battle to stop going there. They almost NEVER read instructions when we order. If you want something done special, go in person; they will never get it right. They cook everything in the same grease, so the fries WILL taste like calamari. You have been warned. They are a little shady. I ordered a sandwich, and they gave me day-old bread that was rock hard. I had to turn around and return it because I checked it in the parking lot. I think places like this bank on you not checking until you are far away. I want to trust a local spot, but you can't. The Chicken Parmesan is previously frozen, kid-size chicken tenders, and it tastes like it. Sloppy food. The sandwiches are thrown together so sloppily, large, strong onions, ingredients haphazardly thrown about. Inconsistent. Sometimes the food is super salty; sometimes, super bland. read more

I had asked for no onions, but it had some anyway. It was served with a hard roll with no butter. When I called the place to inquire about the food, I received a lack of empathy. So, I decided to drive there to present my dissatisfaction and asked for a refund. The owner refused to compensate me. I had no choice but to take it home and try it. Fantastic authentic style Italian food. I highly recommend. They have yummmmy bruschetta, which is simple tomato and a little basil evoo fontina cheese on a nice crostini bread. Very tasty spaghetti and balls. Their ravioli is amazing. And one of the best chicken marsala I've had anywhere! I recommend dining in. They have extra tables in the back for dining in. I believe they only have wait staff on the weekend and their business is mostly carryout during the week. However you can still dine in on weekdays, You have to order at the counter and get your own drink from the fountain, and they'll bring the food out to you. I went to Fontina's for the first time and had the best sub I've had in years. The bread is old time Italian and fresh as can be. The meats are top quality and served in generous amounts. The oil dressing was a little too heavy for my taste, but so what? I'll just ask for easy on the oil next time. The subs are ordered by the inch...6", 8", 10", or 12". Stopped by for a quick lunch on Christmas Eve while out running errands. I was a bit hesitant based on the strip mall location near Jewel, but when I walked in, the small restaurant was crowded with a line of people picking up holiday carry-out orders, so I figured it had to be pretty good! I placed my order at the counter. I asked if they had any lunch specials and was told "no," which was a bit of a bummer, but oh well. I ordered a cup of potato, garlic and leek soup and the Turkey Panini, which came with pesto mayo, fresh mozzarella, spinach and tomato. I opted to dine in. My food came out quickly, and the panini was huge and tasty! I could only finish half of it, along with my soup. The pesto mayo was flavorful, though I wish there was more of it. The soup was good and tasted homemade, though it was a bit heavy on the garlic for my taste. The "ambiance" left something to be desired. There was limited seating in the back of the restaurant. It was dimly lit. A couple tables hadn't been cleared, but I assume that was due to the Christmas Eve rush with managing so many carry-out orders. An older couple at a table nearby didn't appear to be eating anything and were swearing like sailors! It was off-putting and didn't really add to the "vibe," but I recognize that's out of the restaurant's control. As I left, I noticed a young man eating a massive plate of spaghetti and garlic bread. My parents enjoy this place so we came here a few days before Christmas (first time for me). Fontina's has a bit of a split personality in that it's a sub/panini/ place in front and a sit-down restaurant in back. (The subs and paninis aren't on the menu in the sit down area, so not sure if you can order them when you are eating in?) We all enjoyed our meals, which were each easily big enough for 2: spaghetti and meatballs for mom, ravioli with marinara for dad, and fettuccine alfredo with chicken for me. Don't fill up in advance on the crusty bread with olive oil and fresh parmesan that they give you, tasty though it is! The sit-down restaurant was nice with murals wrapping around the walls and high-backed booths, though a bit dim (we are still in "dark at 4:30 pm" time of year, and there are no windows in back). Our waiter was friendly and into the holiday spirit, even changing into an ugly Christmas sweater halfway through our meal. A few small things would have made the meal better: - The special price on their website didn't match with what the waiter told my mother (gotta update on the internet if you change it!) - The bread plates needed removing to make room for our meal; things got too crowded on the table - Restroom needed attention (out of paper towels, and toilet paper was stacked around but none actually on the roller) I'm sure my family will be back since my brother gave my folks a big gift card here for Christmas!
