My favorite Italian spot in Naperville! Definitely check it out if you're in the area. We came for dinner, and there's both outdoor seating and a ginormous interior with plenty of tables. It's definitely a good spot for larger groups. Our server was also super knowledgeable about the menu and walked us through which pastas and pizzas were the most popular, which ones were seasonal, and which ones get rotated out. I really appreciated the recommendations because there were so many things I wanted to try. We ordered: - Short rib gnocchi: The short rib was extremely tender and basically disintegrated as soon as you touched it. The gnocchi paired really well with it too. - BBQ chicken pizza: We ordered both the Margherita pizza and BBQ chicken and I would definitely get the BBQ chicken again. The sauce had the perfect amount of tanginess and savory flavor without overpowering the pizza. - Chicken parmigiana: Don't skip this! The chicken had the perfect amount of savory flavor and worked so well with the tomato sauce and vodka rigatoni. This ended up being one of my favorites of the meal. We came from Chicago to Naperville for some. Business and went to have dinner here and it was just amazing. Everyone was very friendly and the dinner was delicious. We sat outside on a nice summer evening. It was sunset so we had a great time as night rolled in. Besides the weather being perfect, the whole evening experience was top notch. We really loved the building, the decor and ambience. We had to take a nice long walk after eating all that delicious food like an Italian Passagiatta or stroll. Without reading reviews or anything, I was kind of walking in with low expectations because I wasn't feeling Italian food at that moment and I was not excited about eating pasta and pizza, BUT I was very pleasantly surprised. At first sight, the place is very casual and welcoming. You don't need to be fancy to come here. It's actually quite the perfect spot in downtown Naperville after walking around. We got three appetizers and each one was amazing. My favorite was the zucchini fries. We also got the honey and ricotta and the watermelon salad. Each item was really special and unique. We also go pasta and pizza. The pizza dough is very tasty. You can eat it on its own and really enjoy it. I really left this place wanting more and can't wait to come back. First off: Make a Reservation and save yourself initial trouble. We came in and was quoted 40 mins... pretty lengthy but decided to wait and it turned into almost an hour and 15 minutes. While I understand, over quote us. They wouldn't miss our business and we probably wouldn't have waited. Plus there was no where to wait - my assumption is it's supposed to be outside but this was at night and it at least 11 degrees so that was a no for us. This just turned into us either feeling on top of the tables right inside or in the way of workers. That being said, our server was very friendly, patient and observant. He noticed when something wasn't initially dropped which is a bonus for us. The Ricotta was amazing as well as the soup. We really enjoy Arancini, but honestly would get the other two items and try something new if the opportunity arises. Both the pizzas were good, but they were busy so by the time they came the appetizers settled and weren't as hungry. Came in late on a Monday before closing and had a Resy reservation, but didn't know about the half off pizza deals on Monday. :-) Restaurant was packed but bar had a few seats and decided to just stay there instead. We started with the calamari, which was good, though I wish it had been a bit crispier. Unfortunately the inside has little resemblance to the library except for a few books behind the bar. The restaurant features seating out front on the patio along Washington Street. There is also seating inside and among the bar area. The inside is rather loud as an open space. The space was also quite smoky from food prep, perhaps pizza. Outside area is nice for conversation and people watching. The menu features a large selection of wines. There is also a full bar for cocktails. As for food, there are ample areas of starters, pasta selection and pizzas. Plus there are some fish and meat dishes. The salmon dish was solid. The pizzas were a good size. And the pasta with pepper m, chicken, mushroom and more had good flavor. I just wish the pasta was a bit warmer. Been to other locations but this one is just not the same and falls way short of the others. Food was ok. One of us had Pasta Gia, the other had Short Rib Gnocchi - both were fine. Service...not so good. We were there an hour before closing time, with about 4 other indoor tables with patrons - the staff was stacking chairs onto the unused tables while the place was still open for another 30 minutes. This is the 2nd time I've had Gia Mia but the first time I've been to the Naperville location. This location seems to be more family friendly compared to the Downers Grove one. The space itself was OK. It was hard to find, you have to really search for the 'Gia Mia' sign if you aren't familiar with this location. The inside was very cramped and loud. During my time here I felt as if conversations were bouncing off the walls. It was difficult to hear the people I was having dinner with. I left with a headache wanting to get a break from how noisy it was. Service throughout was great. Everything was timed out well and our server was attentive and friendly. My husband and I shared food and they split the pasta entree. This made it easier for us to enjoy without having to go back and forth with 1 plate. We tried the spaghetti carbonara and the pepperoni pizza. Both were pretty good. I'm not sure I'd order either item again but I'm glad I tried it. 1 of my friends ordered the beet kale salad which I also tried. I would order the beet salad in the future. It was delicious and well balanced! For dessert I had the pistachio gelato and it was 1 of the better ones I've had! The portion was generous and reasonably priced. Overall the evening went well. Okay this is an update to my Gia Mia experience. I went again with some friends for the second time and my experience this time around was absolutely incredible. We had patio sitting and sipped on the most refreshing in-house cocktails (not pictured bc they were indulged very quickly). The patio seating was so great, right in the heart of downtown Naperville! Let's talk FOOD! All I have to say is that you HAVE to try the Chicken Parm - it's an absolute must-try! The pesto linguine adds the most refreshing taste, and the chicken is crispy, saucy, and cooked to perfection! The Vodka Pasta with sausage is another standout. It's incredibly creamy, rich, and the perfect dish to share (or keep all to yourself, no judgment here!!!!). I tried it with chicken last time but the sausage is INSANE! Don't even get me started on the Pepperoni and Jalapeño pizza--talk about a perfect slice! The combination of spicy and savory flavors will have you coming back for more! And if you've got a sweet tooth, you *have* to try the dessert flight. It's the perfect way to end your meal on a high note. It comes with tiramisu, cheesecake, chocolate cake, and ice cream! If all of this is not enough, the service was fabulous! We were so well taken care of and constantly checked on! Highly recommend!!!! I have been here 3x already, every visit the food is always delicious. I've tried the prosciutto + burrata 3x too, can you tell that's my favorite so far? Service was good too. Our 2nd visit (Father's day) was not as great compared to 1st and 3rd but the food would always make up for it. Also my first time to dine Al fresco since the weather is nice. Our server I wish I've gotten her name was very mindful that it is windy so she makes sure our food, napkins and take out bag will not fly away. I do like the al fresco dining, the only complaint I have was the music was too loud.
