Stopped in on a rainy day for lunch and it was delicious. I had the buffalo chicken salad and a cup of tomato soup. The salad was flavorful and fresh. Soup was savory but the cup was small. My husband ordered the half grilled cheese sandwich and soup. The sandwich was on Texas toast and very cheesy but not very big. The cup of soup it came with was small. I'll round up my 3.5 to a 4, because the sandwiches are pretty delicious. I've been wanting to try Everdine's since my company transferred me to our Naperville location. Ahead of another transfer I decided my going away lunch should be this before leaving the area! Made a large order for my office and went to pick it up around 11:45 today. First hiccup is no easy way to grab pick-up (or none that I was aware of)....had to go across Washington to park and walk all the way back down to the restaurant for a quick pick-up. Which wasn't exactly quick. The bags were ready, but the cashier had to ring everything up as I stood there. Would have been nice to have it all rung up and ready to take payment when I arrived. On to the food...everyone loved their sandwiches, but the consensus on the tomato soup was disappointment. I tried to wrap my brain around how this could be a staple item on their menu but be so lacking. Way too tart, way too watery (not creamy)...only thing I can think of is they want to bill it as a vegan item with no butter or cream or cheese in it. Boo *sad face* I threw 3/4 of it away, honestly. They offer a dipping cup, how about offering an Alfredo type creamy/cheesy mix-in for the soup? That'd be my suggestion, anyway. Wish the sandwich was crispier, but you can only expect so much from carrying out, I suppose. First off amazing service I did curb side but no where to park of a block and a half and a kind gentlemen walked it all the way to me. I can't talk about ambiance as I carried out. The food however is awesome I had 2 sandwiches and a cup of tomato soup. All were absolutely delicious I had the sloppy Mack and boy oh boy was that freaking good. Second sandwich was the Kampfire, also very delicious only change I would like is the chipotle mayo to be thicker as it is beyond messy but so delicious. I also ordered the Buffalo Chicken salad. The sandwich was very tasty. The soup however was okay. I didn't find it very flavorful but when I dipped my sandwich in the soup it was the prefect combination. How did it get soooooooooooooooooo crowded in 5 minutes? So just be aware that dining in may present some challenges. Tough to decide because there are so many choices. I had no idea grilled cheese could be made so many different ways. Staff was extremely friendly and sandwiches are all made after ordering - nothing is pre-made here. On a cold day there is no buffer each time the door opens, it gets cold in a hurry and your food also gets cold in a hurry. I would be curious to know if anyone knows a time to arrive when you can sit and enjoy a hot meal. People were hanging over us for us to hurry and finish (or be on our way ~ finished or not). Going into the restaurant, my first impression was it was expensive (which it is on the expensive side of the spectrum) but the sandwiches are good size and very filling. The Reuben was flavorful, not dry at all and had the right amount of sauce to add flavor but not overwhelm the corned beef and sauerkraut. All the sandwiches were great with the tomato soup! The soup was tangy but balanced out the grease from the sandwiches nicely. I'd recommend getting it in the smaller size if you're not a big fan of strong tomato soups. The drinks were $3.25 for craft tea (Half and Half Lemon Tea, Mango Tea, Peach Tea, Pink Lemonade), which is a little pricey, but for the experience, the glass bottles which have a fun vintage design, and the size being a a bit larger than average (I believe 20oz) worth a try every once in a while. read more
