I haven't been to this supermarket in a while b/c they have a smaller version closer to my house. This location isn't too far from me. It was after 10pm & I needed bottled water. The smaller location closes @9:30pm. This one is open until 10:30. This supermarket is huge & has everything you could think of. They have ethnic aisles w/ different foods from different countries(ex. Chinese,Spanish,Jamaican,etc.). Everything was neat & organized. It was very clean inside as well. The shelves were full & stocked. I didn't wait on line b/c there was numerous cashiers open. I like that,I like that a lot! Def will be back soon! read more

It's annoying that they don't have brown bags or sell cheap plastic ones to bag your groceries in. If you don't bring your own bag, you're stuck purchasing a heavy duty Food Bazar bag. I'm used to Target where they give you a durable bag for free! I's a very large store with a butcher and deli, etc. It has special ethnic aisles where you can get hard to find seasonings. The items are higher priced compare to price rite, but the meats and produce are way fresher here and worth the trip. read more

Supermarket is very deceitful, price more than often don't match. Most employees there have a language barrier and can't count. Express checkout needs to be recalibrated for weight. It feels a little sketchy, but I have to say-I was pleasantly surprised. I went here to get fresh tuna steaks to make tacos. Everything appeared clean and well cooled. They had a great selection of seafood, and were a third the price of the same item at Whole Foods (imagine that). The Food choice is excellent! The service is poor, and language problems exist! The Exit door is blocked and closed for quite some time and Customers have to walk in circles to the Cahier's desks, then to the ''one'' door ''exit, and then a long walk to the car. It sucks, especially for the Handicapped people. Incredibly rude workers. Was purchasing Dole Bananas, Turkey and 2 Gallons of Milk. Paid for EVERYTHING, but realized the paper for the receipt was empty. Was given the OK to leave, and then was targeted by a huge worker with a huge ego and poorly dyed hair who needs a good deal of purple shampoo for supposedly "Stealing." And ordered the other workers to chase us down as we were supposedly "Leaving without paying." We turned around very quickly and responded back, we are NOT robbers, my child is an American Citizen, knows English and I have learned English too. We respect our country and wouldn't steal from anyone, we pay taxes, have never served jail time and was actually recently assaulted and robbed, so we know what it feels like to be stolen from and taken advantage of. We defended ourselves and was SWARMED by a group of these fat women who worked there, and was demanded for a receipt that didn't exist, because we were allowed to leave without one. Not one, but TWO workers saw us there, shopping for these items and didn't speak up for us while we were being berated and harassed by these illegals who worked there. They told us to wait and they printed out the receipt we were SUPPOSED to receive earlier, but weren't given because of the carelessness of these workers not reloading the machine with paper to have proof of our purchase. They printed it out, and realized we did pay for these items, and we didn't even receive an apology of any sort, and was swatted away like WE were in the wrong. Do NOT shop here if you are American, you will promptly be targeted by illegal immigrants who want a FAT check off of you and your citizenship. The ambiance here is also incredibly DIRTY, they have RAW UNCOOKED meat out in coolers that are partially not working, and doused in DISGUSTING liquid that is definitely not up to FDA standards. I'm not familiar with Food Bazaar because I'm not from the area, plus I've never actually heard of it. I was looking for a specialty food product and their website directed me here. It's a big grocery store and every isle is fully stocked. I was really excited to find the ice cream I was searching for, but, unfortunately, every pint was extremely freezer burnt and covered with flaky ice. I like this grocery store, it is actually our weekly stop right after Sunday mass. The bread is simply awesome, often you will have a line of people just waiting for the bread to come hot from the oven. Their deli section is also very good. The ladies behind the counter are quick and helpful. They have a huge selection of international food, I am sure they cover nearly all of the different international countries in the near vicinity. Look out Stew's and Whole Foods! This place (thankfully) took over what had been a long-empty Shaw's and turned it into a neighborhood gem. It's kind of like a bodega exploded into a gigantic supermarket! Incredible meat and fish departments, ethnic aisles (not little Stop 'n' Shop "sections'), great prices, and clean. Lacks some amenities (you bag your stuff yourself), but it's big, complete, and a welcome relief to the supermarket homogeneity of CT... where else can you buy Jarritos soda in a supermarket? So glad I found this place! AMAZING, HUGE fresh seafood department. All kinds of stuff I've never seen anywhere else in the area. Fresh sardines, tile fish, large unfrozen octopus, john dory, whole prawns (with heads), three of four different types of mackerel. And to top it off, very reasonable to low prices. Food Bazaar makes eating fresh fish so much more affordable! Very nice fruit and vegetable selection with lots of "ethnic" choices. The weekly special prices can't be beat. I'll be looking forward to coming back to explore some of the "ethnic" food isles - there are lots of 'em. If you're passing through Bridgeport on I-95 or live within reasonable driving distance, definitely try to find an opportunity to check this place out. read more

There is a good variety of products that you may not find at a typical supermarket. The workers are very nice and friendly however the managers are horrible. It somewhat reminds me of slave masters the way they are constantly watching their employees. They usually stand in the aisle in back of the cash registers on your way to the exit. It is a little creepy to see security officers at a supermarket. I once ask a manager about the availability of a product and he totally ignored me even though I was standing right next to him. Maybe I should have asked him in chinese . Prices are ok but I find Shop Rite to be cheaper but the variety is larger at the Food Bazaar read more

Food Bazaar has a great selection of specialty items would not find from most other grocery stores in the area. They have a very wide selection of food including health foods and unique ingredients based on region of the world. There is also a very big produce section which has a lot of exotic items. Their meat department is well stocked with quality meats and their seafood department is also well stocked with a variety of fresh fish. They also have a really nice bakery loaded with fresh breads, cookies, cake ,plus more. The crew here is very respectable and willing to help you find what you are looking for. I went there in search of cheaper produce and while some of it was comparable to Big y or Stop and Shop, most of it was quite a bit cheaper. This place is great for specialty ingredients and cheap vegetables...but please avoid the meat, except maybe the pork ribs. The chicken is particularly poor quality and the fish area has a huge variety but smells questionable. Overall, the place has a cleanliness issue and the checkout lines are crazy long. Don't expect the express line to actually be express either. The front door always has a bouncer/security. Management is usually looming near the exit, scowling. My quest for fresh fish brought me here, a 30 mt drive from my home. It was well worth the drive. As I was focused on getting fish this review n rating is based on just that. I was in fish heaven. I came here the other day after going to multiple Indian take-out restaurants, grocery stores, and an Asian market, hoping to find Ghee. No luck! The only "Indian" section they have is West Indian. You would think that in such a diverse area they would have some sort of Indian section! I have to say that I was disappointed, but I sucked it up and made it at home. This store is the worst I am disabled need a whole hip replacement and have osteoarthritis so I go to food Bazaar instacart to have a awful experience I have had orders canceled on me I have had a person who started shopping and stop shopping and don't know where they were I had to call instacart numerous of times to find out if I wasn't even going to get my food today and then when they found someone which this person did not want to do a big order she started to refund everything so that she didn't have to continue the shop initially spent $200 and $15 and it was reduced down to ,145 I wanted to cancel the whole order and I should have stop & shop is so much better with your service they continue to have these people do personal shopping and these people have a job that they don't do at all well I'm not using the service because I'm lazy I have a very debilitating condition they do whatever they want to do and the store keep these people on not only are they losing money but you're also losing valuable customer so I will not ever use food Bazaar anymore and stop & shop has my business all day long they're customer service is great as far as instacart personal shoppers but by far food Bazaar is the worst and I will tell anyone and everyone do not order anything from these people because you're most likely not going to get it and or you going to get someone with a attitude who cancels on you or who starts to not want to do the order so they just keep refunding you and I didn't get any of what I really wanted read more

HUGE seafood department, almost like an aquarium. These are what I bought: A, seafood: 1, Crab claw. they look fine but they are not fresh enough while eating. 2, Farm raised shrimp with heads. They are just OK. It is a bit hard to take off the shell for some reason. 3, Wild caught squid. They are fresh and yummy, but we have to spend a while to clean them. They are still with bones and sands and mud and a bit their ink. 4, wild caught fish.Their scale are shining, but when you taste them, the meat are not sweet and fresh. 5, small blue crab. They are still in the refrigerator. B, some other food: 1, Seasoned seaweed. I highly recommend. I bought that kind small pieces style that eat with rice. You can put a piece on your rice and roll with some rice and it is very YUMMY. The brand is ASSI. The logo is a cute girl's face. 2, Udon. They are fresh udon and come with package. They have many kinds udon and they all look very good. 3, Handmade miso soup paste. Very yummy, even they have organic ones. 4, Hot pepper paste. It is very authentic. 5, Mochi cake. Very fresh and yummy. I even found banana leaves. I was surprised that they can have so many kinds of food there, but some are very good, some are : ( Compare Number 1 fish market, I like Number 1 better. This place is like a giant NYC bodega. There are some unique ethnic foods here, and lots of prepackaged goods from Mexico, Argentina, Guatemala, Korea and a couple of other countries. I didn't look at the meat or produce. It's pretty grimy and kind of a sad place overall, not the type of place I'd go to get fresh products. Northeast Bridgeport has a large Korean population. This supermarket is Korean owned. The store caters to Koreans and Hispanics. If you normally shop in a white neighborhood store, this store is not what you're used to. I shop here occasionally. PROS: The produce dept. has more variety, better quality, and lower prices than I'm used to. The meat department has real butchers, not boys dressed up in butcher outfits, and the product is always fresh because there's a high turnover. The size of the fish dept. will wow you. You will especially find many whole fish, some large. One look at the fish will tell you the Koreans insist on freshness. CONS: This is a big store, but the aisles are narrow. For a fish dept. this size, I expected more variety. There's only one type of salmon and one type of tuna. I prefer Stew's. Other than that, if you can't read Spanish, you may have trouble with a few of the labels. CONCLUSION: It's good for what it's good for. If you're in the area, check out the produce and the fish dept. If your making Jamaican Oxtail Stew, this is your butcher shop. read more

WOW! now where do i start............... First there's the bakery, i always get those muffins everytime i go there. All their bread is baked fresh daily on the SPOT! go early in the morning (i think they open at 7am) and you can smell all that nice buttery smell. then there's the meat department. I am a meat lover myself and i'm very picky about my meat selection. I love their incredible variety and quality of meat. Unlike PRICERITE and STOP & SHOP, all their meat is prepared in-house by their own butchers in plain sight! pricerite might be cheap, but u get what u paid for. Food bazaar meat is certified black angus USDA choice. This is typically found on upscale meat shops, i never expected to see this quality of meat out of bridgeport. oh btw, both their meat department and fish departments offer completelly free custom cuts. So you can have your meat cut in whatever way you can dream of. Free of charge of course. and then there's this whole section of ethnic foods not found anywhere else in CT. They have west indian, and all sorts of caribean and south american sections. They also carry Korean food, most notably kimchi. Awesome! Their dairy department have some crazy sales sometimes. Where can you get tropicana orange juice for $1.99? i'm talking about orangem, not undesired flavors such as lemonade or fruit punch, this is ORANGE. Lookout for their frozen section as well! huge variety and great prices! make sure you check their weekly ad first before walking in. their parking lot is huge! never had a problem finding parking. I also tried Food Bazaar after the closing of my favorite produce store Food World. Yes, they have a large fish/seafood department and yes, they carry a lot of ethnic foods, but their produce department doesn't make it. They don't have a lot of the produce that FW had and it is very disorganized and crowded. The prices of the produce are a hell of a lot better than Shop Rite and Stop and Shop, but they need a produce expert to go in there and explain how to do it right. Considering I just checked out Fairway in Stamford last night - you will find suitable items of good quality for less at Food Bazaar. Fairway has a vast variety of items that are reasonably well priced... BUT Food Bazaar was an unexpected GEM! First walking into the store, I was drawn in by the produce section (and very pleased with the variety, freshness, price, and sheer quantity!) What struck me also was the stream of employees constantly putting out fresh produce, cutting off bad leaves, etc. GREAT. I then came upon the fish department. WOW. A store in itself - and again, tons of ppl there, cutting, packaging, keeping things clean, etc. The variety is amazing. Even if I came here for nothing more than produce and fish, I'd be thrilled. Further exploring revealed goodies around every corner. i was pleased to pick up a bag of frozen Asian vegetable dumplings, and lots of other goodies. The only drawback in my opinion is the layout of the aisles. Many of them are a bit narrow, and there are some standalone displays that make it hard for carts to pass from opposite directions.
